Johnny entered the plumbing field in Illinois back in 1986. After completing his apprenticeship, he earned his state license and worked for the same company for 12 years. He then relocated his family to Higginsville and worked in Kansas City for a time. Eventually, he found a small plumbing firm in Grain Valley focusing on new home plumbing. Residents in Higginsville began reaching out for plumbing assistance, one by one. After roughly a year, the influx of calls prompted him to establish his own business, calling it Sword & Shield Plumbing. Years later, he moved his family to Heartland Dairy to take on the role of head plumber. Two years later, he was asked to transfer to Kentucky to oversee operations at a large plumbing service firm. Finally, he returned to Higginsville in 2005 to restart Sword & Shield Plumbing.
