E.C. ""Sonny"" Stokes founded Stokes Mechanical Contractor, Inc. back in 1963 in response to the need for professional, quality plumbing companies in our community. Based in Lake Worth, FL, our office and fabrication shop is still active under the leadership of Susan, his daughter.

We developed its presence across South Florida, becoming a prominent name in the construction of condominiums, healthcare and research facilities, government and educational buildings, and commercial developments. While Stokes expanded in building, we recognized the demand for a dedicated service division emerged. Initially beginning with the maintenance of the buildings it had constructed, Stokes Mechanical's service department developed rapidly. Following the launch of our General Plumbing division as a division of Stokes, we have established ourselves as a stronger presence in South Florida.

In the year 1995, Sonny passed the leadership to Susan, his daughter, who had been with the company since the early 80s. Starting out as the front desk staff, she advanced her career to the bookkeeper, chief estimator, Vice President, and today is the President and CEO. She received a state license for air conditioning in 1989 and the plumbing license in 1992, becoming the first female mechanical contractor in Palm Beach. Susan garnered numerous awards for her achievements as a female-owned business leader while also serving on the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board for five years from 1997 to 2002.
