Sonny Stokes started Stokes Mechanical in 1963 because of the need for reliable plumbing services in our community. Based in Lake Worth, FL, our headquarters and workshop continues to operate under the guidance of Sonny's daughter, Susan.

Our company expanded influence throughout South Florida, gaining recognition as a prominent name for building multi-family housing, healthcare and research facilities, government facilities, as well as private commercial properties. As we grew in construction, the necessity of a dedicated service division emerged. Initially beginning with the maintenance of the properties we built, our plumbing and air conditioning service department expanded rapidly. With the addition of the General Plumbing branch as a division of Stokes, we are now a stronger presence in the South Florida area.

In 1995, Mr. Stokes transferred control to his daughter Susan, who had been with the company since 1983. Initially working as the front desk staff, she worked her way up becoming the bookkeeper, chief estimator, Vice President, and now serves as President and CEO. Susan earned her air conditioning license back in 1989 as well as her plumbing license in 1992, making her the first the first female mechanical contractor in the county. She has received numerous awards for her achievements as a leader of a woman-owned business and having served on the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board from 1997 to 2002.
