Sonny Stokes started Stokes Mechanical in 1963 in response to a shortage of reliable plumbing services in our community. Located in the heart of Lake Worth, our office and fabrication shop is still active with the guidance of his daughter Susan.

Our company developed our footprint in South Florida, establishing itself as a leader in developing multi-family housing, healthcare and research facilities, government facilities, and commercial developments. As we increased our operations in the construction industry, we recognized the demand for a service branch became apparent. Starting with repairs for the properties we built, our plumbing and air conditioning service department has grown exponentially. Following the launch of the General Plumbing branch as a division of Stokes, it has become a stronger presence across the region.

During 1995, Mr. Stokes passed the leadership to his daughter Susan, who had been with the company since the early 80s. Initially working as a receptionist, Susan progressed through the ranks becoming the bookkeeper, chief estimator, VP, and now President/CEO. She obtained a state license for air conditioning in 1989 and her plumbing license in 1992, becoming the only female mechanical contractor in Palm Beach County. She has received several honors for her accomplishments as a female-owned business leader and serving on the State of Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board for five years from 1997 to 2002.
