Beware! Steve's plumbing is flat out the biggest RIP off going in plumbing here in Hawaii. They claim to be honest and have reasonable pricing. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I received a 2300$ bill for 300$ in parts and 1 hour of labor. They would not give me an itemized bill and refused to return my calls to speak to me ever. I guess the reason they charge by the job is because they can't justify their exorbitant pricing on the jobs. Outrageous ! 2 pressure release valves, 3 shutoff valves, 3feet of copper pipe, and an hour labor. 2300 dollars! Please do yourself a favor and find a plumber that itemizes and gets paid by the hour. BEWARE

They are not a local company. They say their tech will call you 45 minutes out. I asked for morning. It is 3:02 and the tech just called and he is 1.45 hours away. They are untrustworthy, independent, and will do anything to get a job, include fabricate stories to suit your needs. DO NOT CALL THEM. THEY ARE UNRELIABLE.

The bottom line: They make you pay HUGE price overcharges beyond what a normal plumber charges, though their work is fairly competent. It appears that their business plan is as follows: Calls for plumbing repairs, as we all know, are often very urgent, needing same-day or, at worst, next day, response. Big Island plumbers are stretched sooooo thin, they are currently telling people they won't schedule you for days or even WEEKS!!!!!!!!! Steve's Plumbing exploits our misfortune: They are fully staffed and can come usually right away, but it'll cost you!!!! Yesterday, they wanted $545 for repair of a leaky 2nd floor toilet wax seal (15-minute job). Lucky for us (but unlucky for Steve's Plumbing, who didn't get to take advantage of our misfortune this time), we were able to find someone to come today, who did it for $315 (!), with a six month warranty. This is what capitalism is all about. We've used Steve's before (but see update at the bottom of this review), when we were desperate and absolutely had no choice (everyone else wanted us to wait 45 days before they came for the service call!). And Steve's gouged us badly. VERY badly. Thousands of dollars... And, being in a market like the Big Island, where plumbers may not be easily available, vulture plumbing is a perfectly valid business niche --- unless YOU'RE their victim and you have zero choice. And I'm sad to say the situation is unlikely to change in this market: I may be placed in the position again of being desperate and having to be gouged by them again. Who knows ... after writing this review, I may be gouged even worse. UPDATE: I mentioned towards the end of my review above, that I had used them before . . . In April, they charged me $4,477.60 to underground outdoor above-ground water lines that were damaged by vehicles, and add a water spigot. In December, the handle of the water spigot their plumber installed, blew off, causing a geyser and lot of water loss. I phoned them and their operator said they only offered a 30-day warranty for their $4,477.60 work, done only 8 months before. So essentially, be forewarned. You will be hiring this company . . . pay a HUGE price premium for their services, AND get a MUCH shorter warranty when their work fails. Ask yourself what the value for money is, in such a situation (pay much more, get shorter warranty)? Maybe, there is some value, from the standpoint of desperation of getting a repair when no one else is available, I suppose.

We called Steve's Plumbing because we have a crack on our toilet bowl. They said they will send someone to give us an estimate and assess the problem. To my husband and I this was an urgent matter because we only have one toilet , but we understand that Even though we felt it was urgent They could be very busy . Nathan from Steve's Plumbing came And asked if we would want it done today , yes we were really grateful He knew we were worried and not comfortable using it . He went to get the new toilet and not even one hour We had our new toilet Nathan was very knowledgeable Very experienced and did a great job He listened to the customer and was very respectful and kind I would recommend Steve's Plumbing to everyone doesn't matter what size job you need , he treats it with great importance. Thank you Nathan

Was quoted $1905 for a new garbage disposal & instal seriously outrages, you can buy one for under $200. Was charged a $50 fee for quote I am wondering if they have a nice little gig going coming out spending 5 mins giving an outrages quote then collecting $50, and never having to do a job Wow sounds like a profitable business model. Don't waist your time. Big Island

Permanently deleted 3 pages of disclosure that was put into the closing of our house. Understand. They take FOREVER to get to you, but the BEST is when you find out that the documentation in your housing buying disclosure was PERMANENTLY DELETED by Steve's Plumbing. Oh, that dehumidifier drain line IS NOT UP TO CODE because it drains into the SEPTIC system risking EVERYONE in the house of E.COLI????? ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? That was just a small paragraph of the 3 pages that were permanently deleted. Aside from them being a day and a half late for our estimate, it took the technicians hours to redo what they said, ""we thoroughly did last February."" Very confusing why a company would waste soooooooo much of their own money.....we received a free estimate (thank God), and we decided not to dance down that path. Mahalo Steve's Plumbing I feel that I'm just going to report it to the health board and be done with it.

I called Steve's to clean my split units AC units. They gave me an estimate and scheduled my appointment over the phone. They confirmed my appointment by text and communicated regularly. Jake and Adam arrived on time, explained the work to be done, the cost before they began working. They worked efficiently and left my house very clean. They guys were very friendly. Based on today's level of service I signed up for the Ohana program and will call to schedule maintenance and cleaning for my hot water heater.

I hired steves to diagnose a problem I was having with my tankless hot water heater. When they arrived they informed me that the tank I had been using wasn't worth repairing. I had a spare tank that I was going to use for another project, I asked the technician if it was worth putting it in. He informed me that it looked good but he couldn't guarantee it since it was their tank which was understandable. After about 3 hours they had the tank installed and informed me that it didn't work. I assumed since they had checked it out it would at least function. (It had only been used for 2 years prior). They gave me an estimate for $3,500 for a new tank from them to install. I was charged $860 altogether and still had no hot water, the only parts they supplied were small fittings and tape. I thought this was a ridiculous price considering the circumstances and called to complain. I immediately started to get the run around, I had to call 4 times just to get someone to call me back. When I finally, after several days got a call back it was from a very rude manager who made it clear from the beginning that he didn't want to hear anything I had to say. He told me that the tank they had put on had been discontinued, I mentioned that if the technician had given me this info (as he should have as a professional) I would not have had them install it. I tried to reason with him and hope for the best and after a couple of minutes the manager hung up on me. Very bad company, very unprofessional, total rip-off. I thought since they were a new company to the island I would give them a chance, my mistake. I would not recommend them to anyone.

We called a week ago and scheduled to have our main line to the cesspool redone with the new product they advertise on tv. They were initially responsive on our first call and we confirmed an appointment. The man on the phone said that the technician that would be coming out will asses the work and can complete the same day. They also said they would call prior to our appt to collect the service fee in advance which never happened. Glad it did not as we'd be fighting to get that money back. The day prior to our appt we called to confirm and we're assured of our appointment and the tech would be at our home between 12-3pm. At 1pm day of appt I called to confirm that they were still coming. The gal on the phone said yes that the tech was at another job and we were next up. And said he's be here by 3pm and will call when he's on his way. 50 minutes before 3pm we received a call that our appt had to be rescheduled as the tech was running late at the previous job and they wanted to reschedule for the following week. I said only if we can be the first appt of the day as we cannot wait all day only to get rescheduled again should the same thing happen. She said they can only give us a 1-5pm time Frame, so we passed. We are upset we had to wait a whole week, after confirming twice only to be rescheduled. Steve's plumbing needs to get their scheduling S@&! Together. We read the same negative reviews from others but thought we'd give them a chance, but never again. Time is too precious and if you are going to be in the business of plumbing which is always most time of urgent natures you have to follow through. Don't waste your time with Steve's plumbing call the other guys.

We used Yelp to look for a plumber on Sunday and Steve's called immediately and said a plumber would be out on Monday. Mid-day on Monday they called and said it will be Wednesday before we can send someone so I researched the repair needed, bought the parts and did the job myself and cancelled Steve's on Wednesday before they arrived. Promising service on a schedule and delaying two days with no reason given is unacceptable. I'll call one of many handymen available before this company on the Big Island of Hawaii.
