Recently returned from a trip to find our A/C not working so I called Stan's Heating & A/C who had been servicing the unit as part of their "Gold Service Club" plan for several years (more on that in a moment). On a recommendation I also called Daniel Silva, Silva A/C & Heating, and his quote for exactly the same coil replacement was considerably better. Perhaps the difference was that Stan's representative indicated that it would take 2 men 4 hours but Daniel completed the work alone in about 2 hours. Makes me wonder if either Stan is padding the hours or his folks need more training. Daniel was prompt, efficient and I would highly recommend him. Back to Stan's "Gold Service Club". One of the advantages they advertise is: "Additional benefits include a 15% discount on heating and cooling repairs". After speaking with Stan's representative I came to understand how little I know about maintaining your A/C unit. Apparently if your A/C stops working because the coil has a leak, what they do to fix it is not considered a "repair". No repair equals no discount. Sure glad I joined that club.

We called Stan's at 10:20pm, and our ac was fixed by 11:20 pm. Prices were reasonable, and the technician was knowledgeable and friendly. Extremely thankful for the speedy fix.

I phoned Stan's in desperation searching for a QUICK install to handle a specialized type of unit that I was replacing under unusual circumstances. While they weren't able to accommodate that type of unit, they were kind enough to find someone who was able and available to assist me. I can't tell you how much this meant to me. Thank you!

We had Stan's put in a whole new system for our 1936 house about 3 years ago. Air handler under the house, etc... It works great. We have had a few service calls from them and the response time has been amazing. A real person answers the phone and gives you a real time frame. They are either there on time, or someone is calling you to let you know if they are running late. Stan's has nice, knowledgeable guys working for them. You can't go wrong with Stan's!

Our AC stopped working yesterday at about 3pm, we contacted Stan's at about 330pm. We were told that a tech would be out between 6pm and 8pm. We waited until about 810pm, and called back since no one had arrived yet and the house temperature was about 90 degrees at this time. We left a message and never received a call back at any time. We literally waited for hours to have no one even bother to call to let us know that they could not help or be there as stated by the person we spoke with on the phone at 330pm. If you are not able to help, it would be much better to say that you don't have a team available to help, rather than have us sitting in our HOT house, waiting for someone who never even bothered to call to say they were not coming. You wasted our time for over 5 hours, thinking you were going to show up to assist us. We could have called another company and perhaps had the situation handled yesterday.

In 2010, I had Stan's install a geo unit for me. Overall, I was pleased with the install and the resulting customer service. Somewhere along 2011 or 12 this company turned into Chris Strand's Stans with folksy commercials about treating people right and people reciprocating that sentiment by supporting the hometown boys instead of the national chain that became the national chain coincidentally with a large infusion of cash into Chris's (and hopefully, his mom's) bank account. Well, he has this fellow named James that works for him and has made it clear that they no longer want to service me and they have met their "minimum warranty obligation."
Thanks for that, James.
I know I live pretty far out, about thirty or forty minutes, (that happens to be about thirty minutes closer to y'all than Marble Falls, which you advertise as serving and a LOT closer than south Austin during most of the day's traffic) but I also paid a premium price for a premium unit. So, being a pretty non confrontational fellow, I'll cut my losses at a few hundred dollars in service calls and the time it takes to pen a 1 star review and send my business on this unit, and the house I'm building this year to southwest mechanical out of San Antonio. I'm sure that the entire Stan's family, but especially James, will be glad to never have to accept another phone call or another $25,000 check from me again (hey, geothermal is Cadillac, baby).
If you need a freon charge, and you live no more than about 30 min from North central Austin (or in Marble Falls) these guys, I imagine, will fit the bill. Don't forget though, those commercials get paid for somehow and there are a lot of good, local guys out there without the advertising overhead.
If you are serious about geo thermal or vrf, please, do yourself a favor and go with an outfit that wants your business, not just your money. There is a big difference, after all.
Chris, I see you respond to a lot of negative reviews and I think that is a good one on you. If you care to respond, then please include an explanation as to why you'd refuse service to one of your own installs. To be clear, I'm not requesting warranty work, necessarily, but paid service work. If James there is towing the company line in what he's expressed to me, then he deserves a pat on the back and lunch on Friday, he's got a tough gig. If not, he deserves a talking to. Either way, all other water furnace providers had a hard time believing that you'd refuse service to your own job... well, except the fellow from southwest, he kind of chuckled and said something to the effect that they'd picked up a few clients from outa town that had installs done by companies that got wet feet about servicing geo and that they were happy to pick up my business as well.

Having a non-functioning AC unit during mid June in Texas is as close to a literal hell as it gets. However, having prompt service and great communication is a plus. Big shout out to Landon Allgood who was able to diagnose the issue over the phone with me and provide potential temporary solutions while I had to wait for a technician after hours to help. Also a thank you to Ivan for arriving at night so I didn't have to miss work and taking care of the repair within 20 feet of my sleeping toddler without waking him. Great service, huge relief- thanks to everyone involved!

Don't waste your time or money with these guys. They're so clueless they can't even make and keep an appointment. They will flat-out waste your time. I called last week and talked with the service manager, James, to discuss the problems with my HVAC system and what might be needed to repair it. At the conclusion of that phone call, he directed me to call back in to the office to set an appointment. And so I did ... called their office back and talked with Jessica, gave her all my contact info, mentioned my phone call with James, and requested service. She set an appt. for Monday and said a service tech would be at my home between 12 noon and 2pm, and they would call before arriving. So I sweated through the weekend, awaiting the serviced call. I then re-arranged my schedule for Monday to accommodate the service call, and waited at the house for the service tech. and then .... 12 noon comes and goes, no call. 1pm comes and goes no call. About 1:30, I decided to check in on the status and ... lo and behold no one in their office had ever heard of me, and I was informed I was not "in their system", so I asked to speak with James, the service manager. He did not take my call, so I left a voice mail message asking him to help me get things straightened out regarding the service call. He never bothered to return the call. What does it say if your service manager doesn't even care about providing good service? I will never, ever call on Stan's again. They will disrespect you by wasting your time. You've been forewarned.

I have used Stan's in two different homes (back when they were called Strands) and find that they are fast, courteous and reasonably priced. I have them come twice a year to inspect my systems.

It is 7:45 pm on the Sunday before Memorial Day. And I am happily sitting in my home, comfortable with the fact that when I go upstairs to sleep tonight, I will be sleeping comfortably and cool, thanks to Stan's!! At around 5 pm today, I noticed that the a/c upstairs was not working. I called Stan's just so I could get an early service call on Tuesday morning. Less than 30 minutes later, I got a call from their technician saying he could be by in 30 minutes. He quickly found a loose connection in the compressor and all is well! Thanks, Strand's, er, Stan's, for your promptness, for the quality of your team, and for being there when I needed you.
