I had an high output baseboard heater and a new radiator installed in my home. The plumbers were respectful , pleasant and worked quickly. I have used Stanley Lewis several times before and have always been very pleased with the services performed. Alex and Steven are always a pleasure to work with.

I recently was badly misadvised by a plumber from Stanley Lewis - he said I would need to replace my boiler, when in fact it only needed a new part. It shouldn't have happened at all but I was impressed by how they dealt with it. I complained, they investigated, and duly apologised and refunded me for all charges.

On a previous occasion, I used them to fix a leak, and the plumbers they sent on that occasion were honest, affable, and the rate was reasonable.

So: three stars!

This used to be a great company, reliable and professional. Now in 2015 not so anymore.
Starting with their receptionist, rude, getho all around not professional.
I called for a boiler gas leak , they give you a four hour window, expect to wait until the last minute.
Their technician came absolutely not ready for the job, did not bring any tools to check and find the gas leak, his commitment was to not do the job and just charge me for the visit.
After a fair amount of negotiation I convinced him to change the gas valve.
After paying $800 for this job am not confident that my gas leak is completely fix.

If you are a female homeowner then don't go with these guys. I have called them twice for estimates. The first time Stanley senior was still there and I decided to go with another plumber since I got the impression I would get fleeced after the quote he gave me.

The second time Alex came and he pretended to gauge the problem by walking from one end of the basement to the other. It was bizarre. After which he declared that my entire sewer line would have to be replaced. I asked him if they did the camera inspection and he said no need, the whole line has to be replaced (most of it is underground).

LOL
The estimate for $12,000 , I received after several phone calls over a couple of weeks.

I called ALADDIN who did an camera inspection for $500, declared that the two thirds of it under ground was fine and if I wanted to replace it anyway, it was $1,200.00.

Yeah.

These guys will keep you waiting at home all day!!!

I have the displeasure of my management company assigning plumbing projects to them multiple times. Each time they provide an estimated arrival time only to claim they are held up at a job or stuck in traffic and not show for hours.

THIS IS NOT A LONE INCIDENT, IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME MULTIPLE TIMES.

Unless you want shoddy work and are willing to stay at home all day long waiting for them I suggest you go elsewhere for your plumbing needs.

If you want a SLOPPY job done then call Stanley Lewis Plumbing & Heating Corp

They spent 5 days retiling a shower and replacing a shower door. They left my whole apartment covered in filth!

So if you want white dust and grit to cover
-your baby's crib
-your children's toys
-your pets bed
-your bedroom floors
-living room floors
-bed, pillows, sheets
-shelves
-kitchen counters
-stove
-refrigerator
-rugs
-windows
-every single nook and cranny

...Then call these thoughtless fools.

On their last day the appointment was for 8:30 am but they arrived after 1pm. When they arrived I asked, ""How was the job this morning?""

The main guy answers, ""Huh? What? Oh... yeah...the job. It was good.""
And he couldn't even look at me when he answered.

I had a tankless water heater go out and at first this company seemed the right one. The lady on the phone took the information including the serial number, and sent out somebody the next morning. They charged $120 to tell mew what I already knew--that the gas valve needed replacement--but they'd have to come back because they needed to order the part. And it would take at least 5 days. FIVE DAYS WITHOUT HOT WATER? What kind of business is this? But for over $2600 more, they could install a new unit.. But when? The lady said she would have to contact her supervisor to find out. An hour later I called back and they said the next morning, but they wouldn't send anyone out without a signed contract Faxed and credit card 10% down. Why couldn't they have done it the same day? Plus, she was impatient and rude. For that kind of money I expect promptness and cordiality.

I called someone else and he came out the same afternoon and fixed the unit immediately for 1/7th the cost. He had the proper valve in his truck, for crying out loud.

That's what happens when a plumbing company has a ""supervisor.""

Review from 2015: the hot water heater broke and the refused the warranty. These guys suck.

Review from 2013: I am more of a lurker than a reviewer on Yelp but these guys were so phenomenal that they merit an awesome review!

When our boiler broke, I had such a hard time finding a plumber that we went two months showering at the gym (without hot water at home). I spoke to one plumber that told us we needed to call an electrician and run a completely different line, it would of doubled the expected cost. A friend recommend we get a second opinion and I went through the lists and got a prompt call back from the folks at Stanley Lewis.

Alex, the VP of Operations at Stanley Lewis, was great, during the estimate he was really patient and answered all my questions. It turns out we didn't need to run a new electrical line at all.

The two gentleman who came out to install the new hot water heater, Orin & Billy, were brilliant. I highly recommend that you request them! They were really efficient, so nice and just genuinely good guys. I found them so trustworthy that I didn't think twice about having them in my apartment while I ran to work.

Without a doubt, I would recommend SL to my friends. Fingers crossed, I will have no need for a plumber anytime soon in my own apartment but if I do, I'll definitely call these guys...

Beware Stanley Lewis Plumbing!! This is a totally awful, rude and disrespectful, incompetent, unprofessional, time-wasting company! Wasn't always this way. Used to be that you could call on the old man to take care of business -- on time and well. However, in recent years, the company is now being managed by the old man's son (Alex) and all I can say is that this veteran plumbing company has gone completely down the tubes in modern times! Had the same experience with the poster who got screwed by their lying about service arrival times. Stanley Lewis Plumbing is not borderline dishonest; they are completely dishonest! Say they are coming and never show! When they do finally show -- days later -- they can't figure out what's wrong but will quote you a price up the yazoo to ""fix"" things. Then, when you ask to speak to Alex about a mystery part that has been suggested by the field tech for replacement, repeated requests to return the call are ignored. Disgusting customer disservice should be their motto. But, if you want peace of mind in plumbing service and repair, be sure to stay away from this clown outfit!

I turned to Stanley Lewis on recommendations from two sets of neighbors after having a bad experience with Aladdin and a non-response from Gateway. The job was to fix a drainage pipe in a nasty crawlspace, which I'm going to guess has something to do with why other plumbing companies didn't want to touch it. Alex came later than schedule to assess the job but I didn't mind because we were so grateful that he came so quickly (the night I called). Orin and Billy came to do the job and were great; professional and thorough, and didn't complain about the lousy assignment. We also had them service our boiler. The price was reasonable.

This was the fourth time we've had a plumber out to see this job and I'm optimistic that it will be the last (the first was a plumber who duct-taped over the pipe because he didn't want to deal with fixing it).
