I was renting my house out on AirBnB and had 6 guests staying in my place. I was out of town when the guests told me the toilet was clogged up and the shower was now flooding with water too. I spent 2 hours trying to locate a plumber willing to come over on a Saturday afternoon, and finally Min from Smart Plumbers called me and told me he was on the way and would be at my home in 45 minutes.

Min got stuck in the crazy ""pumpkin festival"" traffic on the way to my home, but that didn't stop him. He persevered through and proceeded to spend several hours hunting down where the clog was in my 3300 sq foot home. The guests had thrown a bunch of tampons down the drain which had clogged the connection to the main line. Min cleared it and fixed it.

The guests came home that night and threw MORE TAMPONS down the drain, and clogged it again! I called Min and as part of their Guarantee he came back and cleared the drain again at no charge.

I have to strongly recommend Min and his company. He felt more like a dependable friend then just a plumber. He even helped send me a detailed invoice and statement of fault so that I could be reimbursed by AirBnB. Outstanding &!Amazing Service!

My sink was clogged and the kitchen sink including dishwasher could not be used. The plumber originally called in the afternoon to reschedule but then arrived late anyway. I was charged too much to clear the sink and replace a pipe under the sink. The estimate was for two trips, first to clear the sink and next to replace the pipe, which was acceptable because the sink needed to be cleared immediately for family use. The sink could not be cleared on the first trip, but I was still charged the whole estimate. The plumbers should have the flexibility to lower the estimate when the work is not done as expected. The plumber tried to keep the floor clean but kept forgetting to put the little booties he had brought back on whenever he came back into the house. Overall, the work quality was OK, but the price and customer service left something to be desired.

We tried this shop because of a clever marketing stunt. They sent around flyers apologizing for problems their customers have had in the past, and asking for a chance.

We had never tried them before, but thought it was a interesting and humble approach, and why not give them a try?

We called them for a very simple job, replacing 2 hose bibs that we're screwed (NOT soldered) into PVC pipes. They quoted us $239 each, or $478 total. It was a such a huge ripoff. I ended up doing me the job myself with my 13 year old son.

At first glance, I thought the job was simple, involving only cutting a PVC pipe, replacing a glued on threaded end, and screwing on a brew hose bib. My total estimated time: 10 minutes. My total estimated parts cost: $20.

When I actually did the work, I realized it wasn't even necessary to replace the PVC fitting. Instead, the only effort needed was to screw off the old hose bids and screw on the new ones. The total time required? 5 minutes. Total parts cost? $14.

They are counting on ""professional"" looking customers to know nothing about mechanical things. I had initially thought it was the plumber they sent out who was dishonest. So I contacted the owner, and now I'm convinced it's company policy. His explanation, after I explained in detail how simple this was? ""Silicon Valley has a high cost of living!"" What plumber (or anyone else) is worth $458 for 5 minutes of work? Not even the best doctors or lawyers charge that much!

Bottom line: This is a rip off joint. Don't be a sucker like we were. We have have much better experiences with other plumbing companies. Some were a bit expensive, but never to the level of a con job like Smart Plumbers.

BOTTOM LINE. DO NOT USE THEM!

I called these guys to fix a main line block. They do not keep up their appointment window ""which is over 2 hours"". An unmotivated, lackadaisical employee showed up an hour after the appointment window who first suggested that this was a problem with the city sewer line with just superficial analysis.

We called the city and the cleared the line and then there was still sewer backing up. So we called these guys again. They didn't keep up their appointment on the day we requested and they had an appointment 2 days later. The same character who did the initial analysis showed up again and sure enough did his useless job and went out.
We are still stuck with a backed up sewer. I am going with a different plumber this time!

The company's name is ironic because there is nothing SMART about their service.

I looked at the other review about the people who have posted positive reviews here. I'm shocked and surprised!!

Wonderful experience with Smart Plumbers and Rooters.

We had a pipe that burst and flooded the kitchen. Our water shut-off valve was old and broken and we couldn't turn off the water. Bobby came out right away, shut off the water at the meter, and fixed our leak.

It was after hours, so he recommended we leave the water off overnight and he would come back in the morning when we wouldn't pay overtime to save us money. He came on time the next day and fixed our water shut off valve for a reasonable price. It works perfectly now and is easy to use.

He checked the house in general and found out that the vent for our sink did not go through the new raised roof. We saw it too. He fixed that as well, and it didn't cost much.

Smart Plumbers and Rooters and definitely are go-to plumbers from now on.

This is a good outfit. They communicate well and the repairs are solid and stay fixed for a long time. Prices are always high with plumbing but at the least you know your dealing with a full deck here. I have used them to replace a toilet and more and their work is 100% good.
I am now using them for all my plumbing needs here at my duplex.

Min, the manager, came out today to respond to my service call. He provided me with guidance as to how to deal with the main issue I was having and also went through the house to verify that everything else was in good working order. He was very professional, polite and a wealth of knowledge. You won't go wrong if you call them.

Unfortunately had to use their services again, but I'm happy that whenever my house's pipes decide to show their age I have reliable plumbers to rescue me.
