The positive reviews on yelp for Sheldon's is accurate. I had an issue with my air conditioner and called out Sheldon's to take a look at it. They came out the next day after an evening call. The technician was very personable and great to deal with. My problem turned out to be my Nest thermostat and not a/c unit. The tech did the unit checks and didn't find anything. He waited as we ran the unit until it short cycled. At that point he told me it was the thermostat. He didn't try to upsell me or sell me services that I didn't need. He was honest and the service was worth what I paid.

On the Nest thermostat. Because I don't used the air very much, the nest gets its power from the unit when it runs. If you don't run it much, it doesn't get charged up. Long story short, I researched it on the internet and found that to charge the Nest when the unit is off that an extra wire needs to be hooked up from the unit to the indoor air handler I ended up hooking up a common wire, (that was a spare in the wire bundle) from the inside air handle to the thermostat and that fixed the short cycling issue.

I'd highly recommend Sheldon's.

Abstract: Sheldon's technician Ryan told me my referigerant was low (about 25% less than normal level) and my system was leaking. He recommended a dye kit service to detect leak (about $380), a refrigerant recharge (about $280), in addition to the cost to fix the leak. I invited another company for a second opinion and they told me my system was just fine.

Long story:
I have been a happy customer with Sheldon's for 2 years. All their technicians are well dressed, polite, and knowledgeable. Recently (5/17) they came in to do a maintenance service on my AC units. Upon inspection the technician, Ryan, told me that the refrigerant of my upstair unit was low (about 25% less than normal level). Given this unit was low last year and they performed a recharge, this suggested that the refrigerant was leaking. So Ryan recommended the following service:

[1] a dye kit to detect the leak (about $380);
[2] fix the leak (cost depending on the reason of leak); and
[3] recharge the refrigerant (about $280).

Since I did not like dumping so much money on an outdated system, I did not do the service and instead considered replacement.

One day later I realized that I had a home warranty. So I called my home warranty company and they sent another company (Ample Air System) on 5/21. Upon checking I was told that my upstair unit was fine and the pressure was normal (this was documented). There was nothing wrong with my system. I do not believe there was any reason Ample Air System would give me incorrect information for two reasons: [1] if something was wrong with my system, they could have fixed it and charge my home warranty company (or me if it was not covered); and [2] they did a test on my downstair unit and fixed an issue at no additional charge to me.

I was quite shocked so I contacted Tony from Sheldon. He offered to come back to my house and try to figure out what had resulted in the discrepency. At this point I was hesitant since I was not sure if they would do something to my system. So I asked them to hire a third party company to run another independent test. If the third company agrees with Sheldon, then I would go back to my home warranty company. However Sheldon would not agree to pay for this service. I spoke to Tony and Brian and they both declined this request. So I decided not to invite them to come to my house and to terminate my relationship with Sheldon.

I think there is a chance that it was a genuine mistake made by the technician. However this mistake could have cost me $500+ in repairs and $5000+ if I had chosen to replace the system. So I decided to use other companies in the future. I would suggest other people to get a second opinion if an expensive service is recommended.

Sheldon's is the only company I trust for my Ac and Heating service. I have tried other companies in the past and they are all over priced and unreliable. Luckily I ran into Sheldon's when my heater was not working and ABE arrived the same day, he explained step by step what was going on with my system that had been giving me problems every year, he was very understanding of my situation and helped me get an affordable plan for my budget. I had a working heating system the very next day. He also explained the permit process and everything there was to know for my better understanding. Had service in June of 2017, they claimed that the unit was not under warranty. They quoted $796.00 to replace the capacitor and put in a hard start unit. The work was completed as it was going to be a heat wave. In late September of 2017 (4 months) later my unit was not blowing cold air in my house. I called a different company to come out and take a look at my unit. The new company determined the condenser needed to be replaced, the refergerent was mixing between high side and low side on the compressor. I had to have a new AC system and new blower motor placed. When I called Sheldon's in October, he informed me that I didn't give him a chance to come back and take a look at my unit. My unit was frozen and I didn't trust anything his company did or what he was telling me. I offered him all of his parts back in lieu of my refund and was told ""No"". Please don't use this company.

1/5/18: Updated following Sheldon Heating and Air Comments from 12/14/17:
First off Todd contacted me the week before Thanksgiving to see what we could do so I would remove my yelp review. Todd informed me that the company he works for prides them self in honest and integrity work. When your company came to my house in June I was offered to buy a service maintenance plan for $165.00 this was to include two services on my unit one in the spring and one in the fall, this was also going to save me 20% of the parts that were sold to me in June to repair my unit. So again when you contacted me the week before Thanksgiving you offered me my $165.00 back as I was not going to be using your maintenance service. You then informed me that the owner was out of the office and you would contact me the week after Thanksgiving to give me a final total of a refund. Again you asked me in lieu of the refund if I would remove my yelp review. I informed you that it would depend on the refund amount. You contact me the week after Thanksgiving to inform me that your company would offer me a $250.00 refund. However this was not what you were offering me because if you take $250.00 minus the $165.00 maintenance plan that I purchased (that I wasn't going to use) the refund was only $85.00. So please don't make yourself sounds like you were doing me a favor. On December 13, 2017 you contacted me to let me know you had a check for me and asked if you could drop it off. I informed you that I work Monday - Friday. Todd said no problem I will drop it off at your work. Unfortunately when you came to drop it off I was on a telephone conference and asked my friend to go get the check from you. She then returned to my office and informed me that I needed to sign a piece of paper by law that in lieu of Sheldon's Heating and Air returning the refund that I would remove my review from yelp and then I would not slander the organization on any further social media sites. Since I was on the telephone conference I was unable to come speak with you. I asked my friend to return the piece of paper along with the check because the refund you were offering was Sh**, I mean $85.00. You informed her that you would follow back up with me but you never did, instead you left a comment on my yelp review. What customer service!!!!

When my 22 year old AC unit compressor had a leak and ultimately failed, I went 2 summers without it because I didn't want to deal with the expense and trouble of finding a good contractor. When you go online to look for one, a lot of reviews come up that highlight the few bad actors out there (and a few crabby people, too). Some cut corners, all eventually destroying their company's reputation. With Sheldon's, none of this was a concern after a short talk with them and looking at their reviews online.
I got a new 4-ton system, a furnace/ blower unit in the attic and outdoor condensing unit (heating and cooling) today.
When doing an AC installation, they don't just give you the bare bones and take off. They make sure, before they leave your home, you have a complete system with all of the things they know you need, but nothing unnecessary. I opted to upsize my return duct and grille, and I also got new supply registers, the quieter bar-type to replace the old stamped steel ones, and added one more for better air distribution.
The best part is they stand behind their stuff. Included was a 10 year parts and 5 year labor warranty (depends on the system you get). I even had a concern about an existing component in my system that's not always replaced, and they said they'd just replace it, no problem, and they did. They laid out the options from basic, to mid-grade higher efficiency, and higher-end super-efficient. I went with the mid-level system. All Carrier, so it's reputable equipment. Everyone I met from Sheldon's knew what they were talking about (I'm in the building/ energy/ HVAC industry, on the commercial & design side) and wanted to do things right. The installers clearly care about the job they do, good people too.
I just want to turn on the AC or heat and not worry about it for years and years, with only basic routine maintenance, but I also want it to look good (fit and finish). Keep in mind that it's not inexpensive to replace your whole AC system, but Sheldon's does it for a good price; they are clear about what is included, and it all adds up fairly for me and them. I don't miss the money now that it's done right. I'd highly recommend them to anyone, and will continue to call them for any service in the future.

We needed to have a new thermostat with wifi installed for our heating and air conditioning system . When my husband tried to do it himself , he discovered the wires were not compatible to what was there ,so he knew he needed some help.
