Levy and Son in Dallas, Texas owned by SE Holdco, LLC parent company of Service Experts, which Enercare, Inc. acquired in 2016.
Do Not Use Them!! Why? Keep Reading... Keep in mind we have used them several times over the years, No More! We initially had Levy and Sons Service Experts of Dallas, Texas to come out and repair a water leak under our pier and beam house. They also then fix the water line to the refrigerator off the hot line to cold and run the A/C condensation line that was dripping under the house out the house through the brick outside. Randy did a great job with all of these repairs. Since they were here, I asked about out gas line setup on the exterior of the house. Randy agreed with me the best plan would be to replace the main gas line that runs from the meter in the ally to the side of the house where the gas line enters the home. At the initial visit he tested the gas line and it held pressure, no leaks.

The Problems. Initially I was told it would take 1 to 2 days to complete. They started the gas line job on Monday Sept 16th. Monday & Tuesday (2 days) it took the excavation subcontractors to dig the trench. Wednesday the plumbers installed the new line. Then on Thursday, day 4, the plumber thought they were all complete and had the City of Garland Inspector out to verify that all the gas lines are holding with a pressure test. The City Inspector approves the inspection. I then get home that afternoon and the plumber assistant is wanting on me so he can relight the water heater. We both walk into the house and there is a strong smell of gas throughout the home. My question how did it pass the city inspection? The plumber looks around testing for leaks and finds one at the gas compression tee fitting they installed under the house. Sets up for another pressure test and there is a noticeable drop in pressure on the gauge. He works all evening with no luck of finding the leaks. He tells me they can meet me the next day, Friday, day 5, at 10:30am to work finding the leak. I get home to let them in from leaving work and no one is here as they said they would be. I call the main number and ask for the Supervisor named Alex. It is a big run around to be able to reach anyone in the company, they have purposefully set it up this way. They gave me a lot of excuses but not answers. There was a family emergency with the plumber, so he could not come I was told, BUT this was not communicated to me. Alex was no help what so ever on the phone, and he would not even give me his supervisor to talk to, saying it was only him, knowing that everyone has a boss. Just send out another plumber, as told him as they are not a mom and shop! Obviously, he is trying to coverup all the issues we are having to his supervisors. They finally send a different plumber, Alfredo and two assistants, around 3pm Friday to find the gas leaks, of which he found multiple and repaired including the gas lines that they had just installed. He did a great job working to get all the leaks corrected. Now on Saturday I check my sprinkler system to make sure nothing was damaged, only 2 of the 8 zones works! Then on Monday 9/23 the Licensed Master Plumber finally calls after I asked for multiple times for him to come out, because of all the issues with the gas leaks. He is now going to have a Sprinkler company come out to repair the damage to the sprinkler system. Finally, on Thursday, day 10, the sprinkler company comes out to repair all the damages to our sprinkler systems, which took them almost two hours to repair.

They, Levy and Son, were obviously in a rush to get the job done and move on to the next one. Keep in mind not even one time was it communicated to me when they would be out to work any of the days; I would call the main number and they would tell me oh yes, they are scheduled to come out today, but yet never informed the customer. Did not take the time to seal the new openings around the gas line where it enters the house through the brick, did not paint the new black pipe on the exterior of the house to prevent rusting. The smeared their hands all over the painted brick of the house where they were working, I had to repaint the side of the house, and they wiped their hands off on my cedar fence by the meter with gas pipe dope all over it and left a mess of parts in the hot water pan. Dripped PVC Primer and Glue on our nice solid Oak wood floors. Did not clean up our wood floors from all the dirt that was tracked into the house. A Huge Mess, No Care Given about the Customers Property, other than hurry up and get the job done.
Once again Do Not Use Levy And Sons in Dallas, Texas area or any of its other its subsidiaries of Service Experts which are located through the country. Their website states "we want your experience with Levy & Son in Dallas to be one of the Best Service Experiences you've ever had. Ever." This has been the WORST experience Ever!!

I called about hot water heater service fist thing Saturday morning. Stated upfront that There is no leak or real emergency, but need a hot water ASAP. They sent technician who did not try anything except for reigniting the heater. Stated that gas valve is faulty and suggested not to spend money on it, just replaced both water heaters. The heaters are just out of warranty and visually in good shape. One of them works just fine. He gave us price for tankless system, which I think he is not competent in. He was going to connect it to 110 V line. I did ask him if we need electrician to do anything, he said, no you are fine. The other price was for two new tank heaters, and the third option was $995 for replacing the gas valve only. Needless to say that all prices are twice as much as the price from reputable competitors. I ask him to get something done to get us hot water today and he was not able to offer anything. I ask if there is a possibility that valve needs to be clean and he said may be, but did not even try to check anything. Last, but not least, i raised concern about safety, the gas is going to the valve, that is not working. He said : oh, do not worry it's not working. I requested to shut the Gus off to 5hat valve/unit and he told me that I can do it myself. I pretty much had to force him to take care of it. He charged $79 service fee. I paid $79 for a bad sales visit. That is ridiculous.

In November I called Levy & Son for plumbing repairs needed from my new home inspection not realizing they had been bought out by Service Experts. Beau was very helpful and easy to work with. I called them yesterday because one of the water heaters they worked on wasn't heating. The tech who arrived was (a slob) very rude and badmouthed the previous tech who worked on the water heater. He then told me that the part I just had replaced in November needed to be replaced again and that it might be something else. He wanted $1500 to do the work he wasn't sure the water heater needed. He charged me $185 to light the pilot and was only in my home for 10 minutes. I called to speak with a manager, but my call was not returned. I will never use them again.
UPDATE:
I changed my review to 3 stars because the plumbing manager called me and refunded my money and apologized for his employee's behavior. I understand what it's like to have your reputation tarnished because of one person, so I will give them another chance.

charged me $375.00 to install ball value in yard AND $382.00
for diagnostic charge. When I first called was told there was a $90.00
service call charge and an est. to repair water leak would be provided
if I choose to complete the repair the $90.00 would be applied to repair.

I ok'ed the ball value repair but WOW $382.00 for diagnostic.Ron Threadgill

Leavy and son has been providing my home with great plumbing services for many years. Recently we replaced our water heater and the technician, Jason who helped us had great suggestions that were cost-effective and long-term beneficial for my family.

Came to my house three times to change out a short fixture. First time was told a master plumber would need to come back the next day because of the custom features. I was still charged of course. Second day another plumber came and said he fixed it, was charged again. Unfortunately the issue was not fixed so I had someone come a third time. This person said he did the best he could but ultimately it was not fixed, was charged again. The bonus was he came outside his time window but then charged me for after hours because he was late. Yeah, no thanks. The people I spoke to on the phone were very nice and I was able to reduce my bill somewhat, but ultimately paid 3x for a shower that is still broken. Will not use again. Would not recommend.

Valve stem for outdoor spigot rip off

Had them out to replace a washer on a valve stem. $0.50 part. The tech called and said that it would cost $170 to replace the washer but he couldn't guarantee the work. That the stems often pit and that causes washers to fail. He recommended $350 new spigot and another $150 to break out the brick to get to it.

I asked him to just change the washer. 30 minutes later he called back and guess what, replacing the washer didn't fix it. Recommended the $500 replacement and break out. No thanks.

I won't use these guys again. I got to them through Armendia plumbing who sold out to them. Armendia was expensive but at least they fixed your problem. These Levy and Sons people are crooks.

I was a loyal Levy & Sons customer for both plumbing and HVAC for nearly two decades. But things began to change recently. First, I noticed a drop in their responsiveness and general attitude toward customer service. The substantive quality their services then started to fall, requiring multiple visits to fix the same problem. Finally, they tried to nearly double their price for the same service they provided only a few months ago. A little research revealed that the name trusted in Dallas for "heating, air conditioning and plumbing since 1910" had recently been sold. The business is now run by a multi-national conglomerate which apparently could care less about loyal Levy & Sons customers. Time to find a new plumber.
