Three days before Thanksgiving (and it's cold) where we were going to have guests, the heating system went out. We called Levy & Son, found by a Google search. They scheduled a appointment the next day.
The service technician, Mark, arrived on time with a call in advance letting us know that he was on his way. Within 30 minutes he had identified the problem and gave us his cost options. One was to have the work done the same day for a higher price because he would have to drive to a manufacturers parts warehouse to get the replacement motor. He said, however, we could wait until the next day and save $160 by having the parts place deliver the motor to Levy & Son's office, thus not needing the extra long drive to the manufacturer's warehouse. We chose to have the fix done the next day. We scheduled an appointment.
He actually arrived early, texting us letting us know he was on his way, which was great. Within less than an hour, he had replaced the motor and verified all the systems were operating properly. He wore special slippers so that our wood floors would not get scratched. He then spent maybe 15 minutes telling us of the special features of our thermostat and how to get the most of our A/C systems. I was impressed. He then told us how to get the most our of our of our two (upstairs and downstairs) systems.
I'm a technical person who fixes a lot of things around the house, including electrical. So as he talked I could verify that what he said made sense and seemed probably true. I found that everything he said was indeed true, and the extra time he spend with us showed he had a true appreciation for customers and their satisfaction.
I highly recommend this company, and especially Mark.

I am a long-time customer of Levy and Son. They have done both plumbing and HVAC work for me at my home over the past 12 years. A friend referred me to them because she said they were honest about what did and did not need to be done and because their work is always top notch. Because of all my great experiences with Levy and Son, I agree with her completely. Levy and Son is a must have if you need any plumbing or HVAC work done. Call them. You'll be glad you did, and if you need plumbing work, ask for Patrick Barnes. He is friendly and professional and provides a great customer experience. Thanks, Patrick!

Have used Levy for most of my 33 years in the N Dallas area. They are wonderful! All the techs for both HVAC and Plumbing are efficient, cost conscious, and very responsive. A particular shout out to Juan Pineda for exemplary HVAC work all the time.

I was surprised when i googled Levy & Son yesterday and read these reviews. I have used Levy for years for plumbing repairs and related and have always found them responsive and reasonable. I called them yesterday and they had a plumber here within a few hours and took care of a clog within a few minutes. They charged me $90 for the entire call. I found them responsive and reasonable and consistent with my prior experience.

I decided to try this company because it has been around a long time. They appear to have a billing system that allows them to set a price when they show up ($144 to blow out a plugged up condensation drain line). I just wished you could find a company that could show up and give you a fair hourly charge. The service tech was at my house three hours and the charge was $537. Only $29 was for a part. He said I had a unit that was low on freon. That was not the issue but he still charged me $59 for the first pound of freon and then $98 for the next two. Luckily I declined his $225 leak check. I assume, even though there was no leak, I would have still had to pay that. The service tech was nice. He was clan cut and his vehicle was well maintained. That is the reason I give them an extra star. The over billing, in my opinion, would be a reason for me not to use them. He did try to sell me an annual plan that would give me a 20% discount but I did not think I could afford the unnecessary procedures even with his discount!!!

I've had Levy & Son out the past 2 springs to do a cleaning of my a.c. unit, which is very old. Our a.c. ran fine for about a month and then it stopped. My husband realized the coils on the inside were frozen because of the extreme dirt and hair buildup (2 dogs and a cat). Of course it froze, because it never was cleaned at all. About 2 weeks after he cleaned it, the a.c. started making a squeaking noise, so he took it apart and found that the motor also had dirt and hair build-up, causing it to rotate on an angle. So, twice I have paid them to clean it, and twice they have conned me out of my money. I think I'll file a complaint with the BBB and see if I can get my money back! As the other posters said "NEVER AGAIN".

Never again...
My AC wasn't cooling efficiently and needed coolant. The tech turned a simple repair call into a 3 hour sales call. After the initial inspection, he began to tell me about all the modifications I could make to my system. As I repeatedly told him that I wasn't interested, he continued to talk faster and be more insistent. Finally when I began to show my irritation, he got the message and sulked out to perform the needed repair. Eventually I saw him on his cell phone by his vehicle he was there for around an hour. I needed to leave and went outside with my checkbook to find out what he was doing. He was in the process of getting a quote from his office for something else I could do to my compressor. Now I was angry, to told him to finish the job and leave.
I'd like to find an HONEST a/c company that doesn't try to scam customers. If anyone knows of a good a/c repair that has positive reviews, let me know. -Thanks!

Although Levy came quickly after we called them to solve a water tank issue that flooded the house, they never responded to two calls for sale and install of new water tanks and repair of a foundation leak.
I went online after 36 hours and found Harvey West Pluming who did a splendid job.

***Beware*** We are a commercial customer and were referred by the property management company where we lease our space. You might THINK I would received fair treatment not only because its the right thing to do, but also because all of the business my property management company does with Levy and Son but you would be wrong!
We called Levy and Son on a Wednesday around lunch time (95 degree day in June) and they didn't come out until Friday! We ended up having to close early the rest of the week.
The service guy was nice, he went up on the roof and said the system had frozen up because the fan belt was broken. Thats it. They qouted me $500.00 to replace the belt! The belt was a $12.00 part at Home Depot.
When I told him, "Thanks but NO THANKS" he said he completely understood but he would have to call back to the office to get my cost for the service call/ estimate. He came back and told me it was $251.67 for the estimate.
When I told them that was ridiculous and I wouldn't pay him that much, he said OK and left. A month later I got a call from Bernard, the owner, wanting to know where his money was. I told him that was the most unreasonable AC deal I'm ever encountered in my 50 yrs of age and ask him to send me a REASONABLE invoice and I would be glad to settle up. He told me he didn't see anything wrong with the invoice and that "I WOULD PAY IT ONE WAY OR THE OTHER" !
A month later I received a letter by County Constable informing me that Levy and Son was sueing me personally for $251.00,
The law suit is hilarious but PLEASE BEWARE! This company is going to try to get as much money as they can from you, even if you don't have them do any work. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH, YOU WILL REGRET IT.
Buyer Beware!

i recently had an AC freeze up so I called Levy and Son because their sticker was on my equipment. The service call was fine, the tech was knowledgeable and professional.
My only issue is the extreme price GOUGING that the attempted. It turns out the problem was a bad contactor. I was charged $169 plus a $79 diagnostic fee + labor for this $25 part.
Additionally it was recommended that I replace a capacitor for $169 and the disconnect box for another $299. After I came too from sticker shock, I looked up the capacitor online while the tech was working and found one for $5.69! So, it was too late for the $100 plus mark up on the contactor, but i declined any more parts. Later on the tech admitted I would be much better off doing the work myself and I could get the disconnect box parts at Home Depot.
Let's just say I can't afford to call Levy & Son in the future.
