ET C.Had them come out for to replace a shower head, and wanted to charge me over $200 for 15-20 mins of work.
Levy & Sons was purchased by Service Experts, and must be banking on prior good will and reviews that have been generated, because the current company is astounding.
Completely and utterly bonkers pricing. If you look below, many of the latest reviews indicate their exorbitant pricing.
They quoted $1600-1700 for labor alone to replace a customer provided drop-in sink. I mentioned I had gotten quotes from other providers that were 1/3 of that, and I was told that they were likely no longer in business and that these guys were some of the cheapest in town.
It seems like they come out, throw out an absurd number and try to figure out if you'll bite. These guys are shameless. Stay. Away.
Philip M.Toilet started backing up.Called Levy and Son and the Tech had no clue what he was doing,He had no idea how to install a toilet tank.I had to do it,while he waited!! Then he claimed we have roots in our vent stack, and the only solution is to replace a the vent stack piping and he gave a gestimate of 3 thousand to 5 thousand to replace the Vent stack.Almost 300 hundred bucks later and Toilet still not flushing.Do not call this company. We have had this problem in the past and all it took was a Snake out of the drains and vent stack, have another company coming to look and will update this as needed. :Update: Called another company out and all it took was a snake out of the main drain line. Problem fixed. Levy and Son never ran a snake into the main drain at all.All the tech did was focus on the vent stack and then told me the only fix was to replace the vent stacks.Avoid this company like the Plague
Pedro F.Plumber had visited once before to repair a hot water heater that would not light. His company, Levy & son did not carry parts for this common hot water heater. Told me if I got part to call and he would install it. I did just that. Project was to replace the gas valve on the unit and I found several you-tube videos on how to do this, and since I had installed the unit myself, I could do this, but was busy at work.
He showed up with an (unneeded) helper and they replaced the valve. I got the bill for $725.00 for a 90 minute job. A new similar hot water heater at Home Depot only cost $750!!! The price was unreasonable and excessive for the work done!!! I will never use this company again and recommend you don't either.
After Atmos turned off the gas to check/maintain the gas lines, I called levi to re-light the pilot on my water heater after my efforts failed. they arrived 10 min. late and charged me 150.00 for 2 guys to do less than an hour's work.
I am now a former customer!
I wish I had read reviews on here prior to using Levy and Sons for a gas line extension for my natural gas grill. The work, which really seemed simple, went on for hours and eventually, the charge went up and up before the job was done. In the end, the work had to be "fixed" to make the grill more usable. I also used this company because I had such a positive experience with Armendia Plumbing prior to their selling to Levy and Sons. I won't be using them again.
If I could give a 0 I would. They were totally only interested in getting money out of us. They charged/replaced parts we didn't need. We were told we needed 2 new units. Still have problems with AC, had to get a second opinion. Second opinion found the actual problem, don't need any new units. We lost over $1400 on this company with no results.
David J.I had an appointment to have a NEW Air Conditioner and Coil installed for the downstairs portion of my house. Forty Five minutes after the set appointment time I attempted to call someone to find out the status. After calling three times and being on hold 15 minutes I was told they didn't know anything. I was potentially buying or spending $ 12,500 with them. Later Fabian Ramirez the "Residential Comfort Advisor" said the installer got a COVID vaccine shot before 8:30 a.m. and was feeling bad. Really? They expect me to believe that? I've been vaccinated and I don't know anyone who does it before 9:00 a.m. Even if that was true, (which I doubt) why couldn't he have called, texted, emailed or sent a carrier pigeon to give me an update. My experience says they are inexperienced, poorly trained and don't care about customer service. DONT BUY ANYTHING FROM LEVI AND SONS. I left Fabian Ramirez a voicemail and said I didn't feel "Comfortable " spending money with them and that I had instead bought from a competitor and good luck to him. I think he is going to need it.
If ¨zero¨ was an option, that´s what I would give them. They don´t even deserve 1 star!
They came to fix a leak in a sink they had installed and was under warranty. While attempting to tighten the piece, the technician broke it. I had originally provided the sink fixture, so they said that they could not fix it, unless they charged me another $375.00. So Manuel left and left me with a sink that was taken apart.
I had mentioned that the parts under the cabinet were different from the other bathroom (I had purchased two identical fixtures and had installed the other one myself. The fixture in the other bathroom was nickel; the one he broke was black). He knew nothing because Manuel was not the technician that originally installed the fixture. He didn´t take any responsibility; instead, he said that it broke because I had purchased a cheap piece. I contacted the office. I spoke to Sue. She said that indeed, there was nothing they could do, but she would contact the supervisor and he would call me. I am still waiting for the call.
Bottom line, DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE! And if you do, stay with them all the time, and record everything they do. If you use them, you will be out A LOT of money, and will end up with a bad service and a bad taste in your mouth. Too bad no one is here to protect the consumer from thieves like these.
Stephen S.My church hired Levy & Son to help us locate a leak. 2 men arrived at the appointed time. They surveyed the buildings and identified the location of the leak. Our COVID-19 protocol requires everyone to sign in and sign out. They were on the premises less than two hours.
We were surprised to receive a bill for $700. We left several messages and wrote a letter about this without response. We sent them a check for $400 citing that they had not responded. We included a letter for contribution of services in kind for $300.
Our treasurer received a phone call from their accounts receivable department. The woman seemed angry. She claimed we were told of their standard fee when the appointment was made. We were not. She made it difficult to respond or cut in (a typical bullying technique). After the call we received an email stating that if the bill was not paid in full by the end of the week it would be put out for collection.
Their employees were on site 2 hours and we're billed $700? They ignored our attempts to contact them. Their only response is a nasty phone call and a threatening email?
We will be taking any future business elsewhere.
I hate to pile on and again wished there could be a zero. An appointment was set for Monday 8-10 am. At approximately 11:30 am I called to gather information as to the whereabouts of my wayward plumber. I was promised a call back from scheduling "in 5 minutes or so". At 2:00 pm I again called customer service to inquire about my inquiry.. A different representative took a very long time to tell me that something happened in scheduling and I did not have an appointment. As I read back my confirmation and confirmation number I was told "there is no appointment in scheduling". I could reschedule, nothing available until next month, or await a call-back from someone in 24 hours. As I pressed to again state I had a confirmation and could not await the prescribed 24 hours, I was told, "I didn't say 24 hours". Moving forward in the same conversation, I was told, "I will send this up to management and they will contact you". I asked, "24 hours"? No, it will be soon. Ah and I still await the call. Please DO NOT USE Levy and Son. Please look for a local, insured, plumber. After my fiasco I was able to hire a local service and they came out right away even with the enormous volume of repairs needed in my area. GO LOCAL, NOT LEVY.
Lastly, I have read the additional poor reviews, which I will do first next time, and there is NO NEED for a response and a request to contact Levy and Son to discuss my issues. My issues are stated above and I will NOT be speaking with Levy and Son again.
