All I can say is wow! Called at 6:30 pm with a broken air conditioner and they were here within one hour. They did a great job. Discussed possible issues, explained everything along the way and checked things out and fixed two clogged drains. Price was extremely reasonable for work done and coming on short notice. Did not try to sell me a new air conditioner unlike the crooks that came when I had a problem previously. Mark was knowledgable and fair and both technicians were kind and polite. I would not hesitate to use them again and recommend them! Thanks for A great experience!
Wendy T.What a bunch of crooks. They gave me a $1428 estimate for Traulsen freezer repair last week, including a flush of the freon system, followed by leak detection, followed by recharging the whole system with freon, cleaning the condenser, replacing the thermostat. When they came out here, the work turned out to be much less involved than what the estimate stated, and most of the work on the estimate wasn't performed and wasn't necessary. All the guy did was recharge the freon, tighten a valve, and clean the condenser. They not only tried to charge $1428, but added additional ""tax"" onto that.
The customer service guy I called told me I had to pay the amount on the estimate, on the grounds that ""I agreed to the estimate."" Uh, no. That isn't what the estimate says; it says ""I hereby authorize repairs and agree to pay for them upon completion of job."" It doesn't say I agree to pay the amount on the estimate no matter what. And to top it off, their repair was bogus. My freezer was getting down to 5.1F before the repair and right now it's sitting at 5.7F.
I couldn't hold the repairman hostage so I paid $1150 but it was still too much based on the actual work performed.
I'll repost this everywhere else that I can on the internet. If they want to make it right, they'll write up the true bill and refund me the difference in addition to sending out another guy to fix the job they didn't do properly the first time. If that work cost $750 to perform, I'll be very surprised.
I had an appointment to get a quote to replace a HVAC system for a Client's property. The time they gave me at first for the appointment in a few days was 8 am to 1 pm. As I always, I requested they call at least 30 minutes before. I do this when I am coming from far away or if I need to go to the store around the corner.
The day of the appointment, I called around 9 am because my cell phone wasn't getting service and I was worried they may have called. First they couldn't find the appointment. That was annoying. They were finally able to tell me no one had called and the time was 8 am to 11 am. I headed to condo at around 10:30 am hopeful they would be there shortly.
I lost track of time and called at 11 am. Only to be told the Tech wouldn't be there until 12 noon. An hour later. I asked the guy why I wasn't called at 10:30 am to be informed of the delay. I said I don't have time to wait, I too have things to do and my time is important. He then asked if I wanted to reschedule the appointment. I asked him if he was crazy. I said I have just waited 3 hours. So no, I don't want to reschedule. I chuckled to myself that he even had the NERVE to ask me that. I asked for the Tech to call me so I could know exactly how long it would take for him to arrive.
No one called so I called back a few minutes later and still wasn't able to speak with the Tech. I requested that the $70 service call be refunded because of the delay. They agreed. At approximately 11:45 am the Tech showed up with another young man. It just so happened to be the Owner of the company. I said to him as one business owner to another, it would have been helpful if I was called at least 30 minutes before the window ended so I could have arranged my schedule accordingly. His response, was that he understood why I was frustrated and he was going to give me the ""best price"" and do what ever it took to make me happy.
He then proceeds to look at the HVAC and calls the supplier. When he was finished he said okay, they have to call me back and I asked how long. He responded about an hour. I asked if he was able to provide a written quote and then email me a typed quote so I could forward to my Client. He said not at that time. AHHHHH, all I could do was laugh to myself, because I past being annoyed right now. I explained that the HVAC needed to be replaced as soon as possible. I said I couldn't show the condo until the HVAC was installed. Just my luck someone shows the condo on a very hot day and the condo is like a sauna. I said that wouldn't go over well, he agreed.
He apologized and said he would call me in a hour. I told him I had the expectation to receive a quote while he was there. I told him I could have provided the HVAC model and information prior to the appointment so we could have avoided this delay, had I known. I am fuming at this point. He again said he would call me in an hour and left. The hour came and went and then 2, 3, almost 4 hours, when I called the office. No information for a quote, today.
The next day I called several times throughout the day. NOTHING. I finally spoke with a young lady later in the afternoon. She said hold on and then came back on the line and she said no there wasn't anything. I then asked if the Owner could call me. Then it happened she started talking and midway through her sentence lets out this loud yawn and then kept talking. HUH, no excuse me, sorry, NOTHING. Then finished what she was saying and then said okay good bye.
The next day I finally got the quote via email. It was 2 times the cost of the first quote I received. To help understand this quote was for a HVAC that was for a 818 sq foot unit. It was $5,000. OUCH. I would have thought that price was more in line with a single family home.
I am sure you know what happened next. After emailing my Client and he gave permission to go with the lower quote. Not not only was the price lower, but it just happened that the service was better as well.
This was an excellent reminder to me the need for great communication and customer service.
Special thanks to Frank, one of the owners of Plumbing to Perfection (800) 998-9509 or (301) 474-5363.
Who says smaller isn't better.
A special thanks to Service Doctors - Service Doctors for their horrible customer service
This is a rip off. They came to my house to investigate why me air conditioner was not working. After missing the appointment on two occasions they finally showed up. The technician spent over thirty minutes diagnosing the problem and then provided a stated that the cooling unit relay was bad. The cost of repair was $749 for parts and labor. I was concerned that he did not know what he was talking about (this was a new Unit) so I got a second option. The technician came to my house and within 15 minutes properly diagnosed the problem and fixed it. I called Service Doctors to request a refund of the $79 because they did not provide the service as promised. They did not want to provide the refund. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone MAJOR RIPOFF!!! Businesses that do not stand behind their service should be closed!!! Beware of this business....my warning. I never provide comments but this was a case that should be told.
In March 2009, our refrigerator was not working. We called Service Doctor to repair it. They sent their best repairman Mr. Amit John Jain. He said we needed a new compressor and estimated the cost at $3,500. to fix our built in custom fridge. 2 high school kids showed up to repair it and spent all day messing with it and made things worse. They turned the breaker off on our extra fridge and we lost all of our food. Mr. Jain came back and finished the repairs. He gave us a 5 year unconditional guarantee. Recently the compressor started making a noise again, Mr. Jain failed to show up for three appointments. We had another company come out and found out it was a $1,200 job that Mr. Jain charged us $3,500 for. They are Liars and theives. They overcharged us, caused more damages and did not honor their warranty. Stay clear of this company.
In short, these guys charged us $200 (negotiated down from $289) to replace the ""switch"" in our washer and probably just replaced a fuse. They're crooks.
More detail:
The repair man showed up on time, was nice, and worked quickly. After about 15 minutes he left to go outside and ""check on his truck"" for a minute. When he came back he had a box and asked if I worked downtown. He explained that it would cost $289 to fix our washer and pointed to a red round panel with about a dozen wires connected to it inside our broken washer. I asked how much the part was and how long it would take to replace. His answer was $75 and 20 minutes. I got a little suspicious, but began negotiating - we settled on $200. Crazy, but it was a Saturday and we wanted to do our laundry.
Once I heard the washer running only a few minutes later I asked the repair man to see the part he replaced I was handed something that appeared brand new. Also, it was very different from what he had shown me was causing the problem in the washer - it only had a single wire connection. I got even more suspicious when he refused to leave the ""old"" part behind. His rationale was that an auto repair place would not allow a customer to have a part it had replaced - seems strange to me. After a bit of arguing he left the part from our washer behind. Here is where it gets interesting - turns out it's an 8 hour defrost timer for a fridge/freezer. Lookup GE replacement part # 483212. He probably argued because the new defrost timer has some value to his company and he didn't want to lose his prop.
So I'm pretty sure he replaced a blown fuse in the washer and jacked up the price. I had already given him my credit card # and they have charged me $200. Multiple calls to Service Doctors have resulted in lots of promises to call me back and zero calls or messages. I offered to let them charge just for the service call as they did fix the washer, but I've heard nothing in response. I'll be calling the card company to dispute the charge.
In the end - their service guy showed up on a Sunday at no additional charge, were timely, acted nicely, and fixed our washer. If they had skipped the fraudulent activity and overcharging this would be a 5 star review.
I have never done a review of a business before but felt like I needed to do one on Service Doctors out of Virginia. My wife called me at work to advise me our A/C stopped working and the house was around 80 degrees. I told her to star calling some businesses to see if someone could cone out. After several calls Service Doctors was able to come out that evening around 5.
A gentleman in his early 30's or so showed up and a cadillac sedan and came to the door. He had some tools with him and looked and dressed the part. I walked him to the backyard to where the A/C unit was. He walked over to it, looked at it for literally 10 seconds, put his hand on it and began to explain how it was a bad situation. He stated that it was very hot and a slight vibration could be felt which explained that the unit had pretty much died and the compressor was shot. He tried to manually start the fan by hitting it with a screwdriver which did not work and went on to explain why the system was dead and why we needed to replace it. He called his work to see if thatching replace it that night or early the next morning. He said they could replace it around 7am the next morning for $4,400.
I discussed it with my wife and we decided we had no other choice since it was the middle of summer, our house was already at 81 degrees and we both work full time. The guy filled out the paperwork and said he needed the full payment then, so we cut him a check. After he left I continued to think about the situation and something just felt wrong. I made some phone calls to relatives who personally knew HVAC repair men and talked to them for me. Long story short it was explained to me that while it is possible for compressors to go out of systems it doesn't happen very frequently. A friend of the family said he'd come the next morning to check it out. In the meantime to be safe I called Service Doctors to cancel the next day service and the man who answered the phone acted very shady, and after several minutes of explaining who I was and why I wanted to cancel (he didnt have us in ""the system"", didn't know someone had come out, and didn't know we had service scheduled the next day). So I ended up saying the guy left our house an hour ago, we're canceling and we want our check cancelled. After I got off the phone I called our bank to stop the check from being processed since the whole situation was shady and made me uneasy.
The next day the other HVAC company came out. He actually took off the side panel, looked at it and saw that the condenser went bad and needed to be replaced. He said it was a cheap part. So he put a new one on, filled the unit with refrigerant Bc he said it was very low. The total bill: $200. As soon as he replaced the part the A/C turned right on and worked great. $200 easy fix and the Service Doctors hardly looked at my unit and made me believe the whole thing needed to be replaced for $4400. I am glad better judgment came to me, even though it was a little delayed :) Be wary of service doctors!
Stay FAR AWAY from this company. My wife and I called them because our heat was not working. A Service Doctor technician came out and said our unit was not repairable and that we would need to get a whole new unit, costing thousands! SO we had another company come out for a second opinion and guess what? The wire to the control board had been DISCONNECTED and there was no way this wire could have just come off without someone pulling it off!!! SO, the next day became very warm (spring time) and suddenly the AC wouldn't work (although it worked fine a few days before). We called the same company that found the disconnected wire and guess what? The AC wires had been CUT!!!!! We ended up taking photos and are considering filing a police report!!!!!!
Donna B.I was so happy that I got onto the internet and found Service Doctors. My 90 year old aunt's ac went out on Friday evening and she did not call me until late that night. By then she was feeling very ill ( it was in the middle of this summer's heat wave) and I was very concerned about her. The lady that I spoke to upon learning of my aunt's age asked me if I would like them to bring out some portable ac units to keep her cool until they could get the new unit installed. They came to the house at midnight and hooked up two units to keep my aunt comfortable and had the new unit installed by 7am the next morning. I was floored. They were most concerned about my aunt's health and I really appreciated that. From the person on the phone to the technicians that installed the unit I cannot say enough nice things about this company. My aunt felt like she was royalty with all of them checking on her and bringing her cool drinks. ! We are most pleased and thankful for such caring and considerate company. Just love them www.servicedoctors.net. Will make sure that we use them for all our heating and ac needs in the future.
Assar T.I waited for hours for the two loser techs to install my oven. missed my mother's birthday party in the process. they showed up at 8:30 pm unprepared. they had no idea what the model of the oven was and they were truley cluless.
Before leaving they mentioned that they would come back the next day at 8:30 am to install the oven.
A young lady called 20 minutes later to say that they can do it in 2 weeks
20 minutes later same young lady called and said that they will not be installing the oven.
I will never do business with this company again.
