I've attached a quote I received from Service Champions for our a/c that hadn't been working properly.

I was told that freon couldn't even be tested because the coils were dirty and the capacitor (listed as voltage stabilizer) needed to be taken care of first, and the third item on the quote was a good idea. I was looking at over $900 with no promise that would completely fix everything.

I purchased condenser coil cleaner from Lowe's for about $7. After reading and following the instructions on the can, the coils were cleaned in about an hour.

I then purchased the capacitor and other item from Appliance Parts Warehouse on Auburn Blvd in Citrus Heights for around $40 total. Both items took about ten minutes to install.

Fortunately that got our system fixed. Even if it hadn't the price quoted to do what I did in just over an hour can be seen on the quote from Service Champions. Not to mention we had to pay around $80 for the diagnostic service.

I have no problem paying for service professionals. But to charge people hundreds of dollars for a part that costs $20 and takes minutes to install is beyond dishonest. I chose Service Champions because they are highly rated online. I can only assume it's because the general public doesn't know enough about air conditioning units, and that allows them to be taken advantage of. When this started I didn't know that much either, but with a little reading and a little time I was able to take care of everything. I feel sorry for everyone else they've charged over the years. I only wish I hadn't called them and had our $80 back.

Service Champions is an outstanding company. They work under the concept of old time customer service that is superior. Calls are answered in two rings and it's a human! Appointments are scheduled within days and the techs are beyond kind and considerate not to mention knowledgeable. The fix I needed was done within hours even though the tech had to leave my house and retrieve a part elsewhere and return to take care of the problem. Under warranty!
I have used them for years and replaced heater and AC in both homes I have owned.
You will not be disappointed.

Service Champions is a great company. Their service was fast, professional, respectful of us and our house, and always done with a smile. Brandon was here within a day to diagnose the cause of a failed air conditioner. The repair would have been expensive. Stephen was available within two hours to come to our house, take measurements and give us a full range of options for repairs and several replacement choices. He was here until 6 pm answering every one of our questions. We chose a mid-range replacement of two HVAC units and all ducts. Thankfully, Adam, Mike, Eric and a full team of others were able to begin the work the next morning. They kept one unit operating to keep us cool in part of the house while they did the other unit. They introduced themselves, were happy, friendly and polite the whole time...despite horrible heat and a small, hot attic. They protected the floors and walls, moved the ladders and equipment without ever hitting a wall, kept everything clean and vacuumed at the end of the day. They came early the next morning to do the second unit and complete the ducts. By the end of day two the whole house was cool again!! Stephen calmly and happily answered several questions even when I woke him up early one morning. They have gone out of their way to make sure we are happy with their service. Cancelled Service when I was told I would need a new system,
Michael gave me a quote of $15,000.00. with a $419.00 credit
on my account, i almost choked. i called another company & they
said my system had another 2 years, easy. they did nothing to my
system, The only ones fpr the last several years that touched myunit was service champions, two weeks ago I had to work in riverside, Set the thermostat to 80 & left. Got home & the system was not working,
called the other company & they checked it out & saw ""someone had
put the fuses in upside down. called Service Champions & they say
no record of changing fuses on paperwork, they were the only ones
to work on it & I don/t know where the fuses are, Service Champions
refuses to reimburse for the repair.

Jeff Cooney came out to service my home and he was super friendly, nice, and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain things to me and answer all my questions.
