Leland Smith established Service Champions Plumbing, Heating, and AC in March 2000. Since 1979, Leland Smith has worked in the heating and air conditioning industry. Following the sale of his plumbing, heating, and air conditioning business in 1997, Leland founded Service Champions in March 2000. Service Champions is a comprehensive residential heating and air conditioning provider based in Yorba Linda, California, serving homeowners throughout Orange County and parts of LA, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties. Our technicien was Arturo was great - fixed the plumbing issue for the very reasonable price that was promised - he was friendly, efficient - a very postive experience
He refused to be tipped saying instead he would prefer a honnest feedback to his boss via Yelp - I'm happy to oblige and hopefully his boss will see this and reward im somehow

Great company. I had a clogged kitchen sink and they scheduled the appointment, they first technician tried everything but that did not work, he told me that the supervisor will come next day and try other options and we own nothing since he was not able to clear the clog. Next day Carlos Soloman came and with his expertise, he unclogged the sink in new minutes. He also gave some tips to prevent this happening in future.
Since they were not able to clean the clog on first day, they did not charge anything. Impressive.
Both technicians left the place very clean after their work.

I started out by KNOWINGLY purchasing the special $88 ""Tune-Up Special"" bait and switch deal. My current system is old and, to my mind, was coming due for replacement. My thought was that maybe an honest ""tune-up"" might give me another year on the system or, at least, let me know how soon I really needed to replace it. I was pretty sure that the ""tune-up"" was mostly an entrée to recommend replacement.
It was just such a vehicle but, with subsequent gathering of competing quotes for replacement, it became apparent just how bad the attempted gouge was.
The ""tune-up"" seems to have involved a lot of investigative theater. Lots of pictures and measurements however I did not actually see the technician put a set of gauges on the system. It was, actually, the sound of the compressor last summer that caused me to think it might be a couple pounds low on Freon. In the decade + I have been in this house, I heard that sound ~6 yrs ago when adding a couple pounds solved it. My thought was maybe was time for that again. Nope... I got the egregious statement that would not add Freon until a leak was found. All systems leak down a bit over time. That statement is crafted for the credulous to spend unnecessary and likely large dollars.
Now we get to the crux of this review and why it is one star.
When time to present the ""findings"", I was expecting a significant amount of falling sky statements but this was epic in scale. There were findings that were real but presented as dire warnings while actually being quite small, bordering on minor annoyances. There was a neat one that equivocates perfectly with a drive through oil change ""your transmission fluid is dirty, you should get your transmission flushed"" warning.
There was a recommended FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS of REPAIRS. I know this number is usually inflated to drive one to replace a system but holy cow. I was pretty sure that a whole new system was little more than that but a) it was hinted by the technician that a replacement system would be EIGHTEEN THOUSAND and b) I'd not done even the ""ball park estimate"" calculator for some years that suggested a new system might be little more so... maybe.
Again... Nope.
When getting competing quotes for replacement, given that the numbers presented by Service Champions seemed... inflated... and they are.
Overall, I got 5 other competing quotes not least of which to get competing like for like quotes for a given manufacturer system. The company we will be going with will be supplying us with a Trane heat pump with variable speed fan for just a shade under $7k; little more than their REPAIRS. Moreover, their full blown, all the bells and whistles, high SEER, variable speed, variable output, whole house hospital grade filter system was $14k. It is pretty hard to rationalize the outrageous prices presented to us against that.
Now the biggest one star item (and could fit the often stated ""wish I could give zero stars"") is that the system in place WAS RECALLED IN 1996 AS A FIRE HAZARD. This little fact is not called out in their dire warnings which includes condensation water damage consisting of a 4"" diameter surface mold accumulated over decades but you need to replace all these things and get the damage repaired statement. As an aside, this system was in place when we bought the house a little over 10 yrs ago and the home inspector also didn't note that; I WILL be having a pointed conversation with him.
I did get a new filter installed as part of this, however. Most expensive filter I ever bought.

I have to say I have never dealt with a company that works so hard to make you, the customer, happy. I had an issue and they were out within a couple of days and went way above and beyond to correct the problem. Thank you so much Service Champions!

I have used them for system maintenance last week. Tech Michael showed up with very professional and did awesome job. Yes my AC units are old but still working conditions. I requested them estimate cost for replacement of all units so I can replace them before the system break down. So Michael helped me and brought his lead which is a sales manager. I don't want to mention his name for respect but I need to explain why I decided not to dealing with them in the future even though the technician was extremely good and polite. He gave me proposals after he went through and checked out my current systems. His prices came up for basic systems was around $80k ( 2 AC system, Heating systems and included in removal and installation of attic. So I was afraid of that pricing so told him that I have to discuss with my wife and let you know by next week . Then he offered me with $58k right away in a few seconds. I was so surprised and I felt like I was a shopping at the street market. He just discounted me a little over $20k in a few seconds so that made me scared of the his margins on top of the sales. On these days, you can find out everything online. You can not ripping off easily. Well, I've decided not to work with them anymore in my future so I called to the company and cancel my appointment. But I felt bad about these technicians who are working professionally and services to the customers.

I've received their letter every year for the AC tune up special and have always ment to call. Just received their letter 2 weeks ago and called last week for an appointment. Super easy to set up the appointment. Serice tech came within my moring appointment. Antonio Rojas as very friendly and in fact we spent the first 30 mins talking about our pets and family! He walked me thru everthing he was going to do, called me out to show me the inside of the AC before he started working on it, then called me out to look at it before putting it back together. He inspected my furance and discussed any troubled spots he found which was basically just needing a good cleaning. He replaced my air filter. We talked about their Rewards program with NO pressure to sign up (which I did and will be calling them to schedule my free funance tuneup). Can't give enough praise to Antonio and the company! What they advertise as (their code of ethics) they do follow thru with! I would highly recommend Antonio and Serice Champions!

They were great Miguel Mendez went over and beyond. He noticed that my knob on the faucet was broken so he went and got a new one at the hard ware store. Clean n courteous and a gentleman. He explained everything he was doing and was very patient. I would recommend Service Champions to my friends.

Our AC recently stopped blowing cold air. One company came out and gave us a quote of $2700 for repairs. Definitely felt like they were trying to up sell us, so we contacted this company to get another quote. So glad we did! They were able to fix the problem and get us back up and running for under $200. Such a big difference in service and price. Highly recommend them!

My house is not a billboard for your company!
Before they left, they slapped huge, ugly, yellow stickers all over my AC unit with their phone number and website. And now there's permanent sticker residue everywhere.
They try HARD to upsell you services you don't need at many times the price you should pay. Is your compressor old? They offered me one that should cost $1250 all-in for $5000.
There are much better companies that won't treat your property like their free advertisement.

I can't remember the last time I interacted with a company that cares so much in quality and professionalism. This applies for both quality of work and customer service.
I'm a pretty particular person when it comes down to any job, and service champions really stepped up to ensure my parents and I were fully satisfied. The extra money that you pay is totally worth it, as you will have peace of mind on any job.
