I've used Sartain a couple of times in the past with satisfactory results. Not this time. My dad had a pressurized landscape line that was leaking. I texted Mel, and he said he would be there at 2 pm the next day. 2 pm came and went. I texted and called, no answer. Next morning texted, no answer. So I ended up making 2 trips to Home Depot and fixing myself. I understand why a plumber might be late, or even decide he doesn't want to do a job. But take the 30 seconds to let the customer know. And his website talks about how he values customers more than other plumbers. What a joke. Use only if you want to roll the dice on him showing up or answering his phone.

Mel is amaze-balls! He came to clear the tub and realized it was going to be a far bigger job bc of my 40 year old plumbing. Not to mention getting to the problem meant getting under the house to replace corroded pipes and fix leaks. Sounds easy enough, right. WRONG! Our crawl space is so tiny I can barely squeeze under and I'm a small woman. Mel somehow got himself under there and in that cramped space proceeded to saw out all the old and replace with the new, with the help of Brandon and Mike being the gofers. He worked quickly and efficiently always with a sense of humor, He gave me an incredibly reasonable price for the time and hardship spent. And just as a case in point, my neighbor had another plumbing service (who shall remain nameless) clearing her basin at the same time and at twice as much. Next day, hers is backed up again and my tub is purring like a kitten!!
I told him and I'll say it again:

Late Friday afternoon, early in the ""Stay-Home"" mandated period to avoid COVID19--most business closed--a toilet begins slowly backing up onto our bathroom floor. Our go-to plumber retired, we text friends for referrals and from their options, choose Sartain Emergency Plumbing. Very glad we did. Problem solved in no time, with advice as to how to avoid the problem in the future and an (optional) additional line to the street cleaned, all at a price, lower than expected. The speedy return call, prompt arrival, and very professional service at a reasonable price. have made friendly, knowledgable Mel, THE MAN and our new Go-To plumber. Call him!

Mel was awesome! He knew what he was doing, and was professional and courteous. It took him only 17 minutes to make it out on a rainy Saturday night. Emergency plumbing is a very apropos name for his business. He's got a loyal customer in me.

We discovered a sewer drain line leak under the house, we didn't know how bad. Turned out the shower and kitchen sink had been dumping on the ground for the last couple of months. I called Friday night, Mel came out 10:00 the next morning. By 11:00 all was fixed. A fair price for an emergency plumbing fix. Excellent!!

Since I purchased this home in 2008, I have had one major plumbing repair plus clean outs twice a year. In June 2018 I found Sartain after I couldn't find anyone to come since it was the weekend. His office said 30 minutes and Mel Sartain was here in 30 minutes or less. A 1962 home is so old that when the toilet and shower backs up the garbage disposal pipes start grumbling when they all meet. On October 10th I was calling Mel again. He cleaned it out and suggested a video. We saw a huge root ball under the shower and Mel suggested some changes to get the plumbing repaired. Now we have a two way clean out, a new ABS pipe to replace the kitchen cast iron pipe that had rotted. The lines were hydro jetted and all is draining well. Mel and his team were completely professional and knew exactly what they were doing. When can you say you enjoyed your time with your plumber? I would recommend Sartain to anyone and know that they will enjoy their time as well. Plus, Angel the golden retriever, was extremely satisfied with the attention she received.

I rarely write a recommendation to Yelp but Mel from Sartain plumbing was outstanding ! My water went out on the 4th of July in Santa Barbara. Mel came right over to assess the situation then went straight to work on a temporary fix and immediately after that went to work on a permanent fix. Incredibly responsive and knows what he's doing! Highly recommended.
