Should have checked YELP first! Be cautious to not be misled. I was told on the phone that you pay by project and not by hourly or materials along with separate trip charge. I was good with it. Gentlemen showed up, I explained the problem that the oven hood light kept shorting and one wasn't working. They quoted me a price to fix...half way through they showed me problem was that the light units had some issues but then told me the quote didn't include the parts to actually fix the problem. I said the reason I signed off on the project was everything should be working when completed. I even tried to give them a win-win solution by asking for trip charge refund and would pay the separate quote which was higher than trip charge. Their sales manager refused...so to yelp it is and any other social media forum to educate people to not to trust what their appointment person says.

I would give negative star if i could. Said they would come between noon and 4 p.m. a window that kept me home all afternoon. Then they did not get there until 4:30. Order was for hanging a 40 to 50 lb chandelier in a condo dining area. They said I needed to replace the plastic box with a metal one. They said to do that and hang it would take about an hour. Their estimate was for over $700. But if I joined some membership it would be about $100 less. I ended up having to pay them $80 to come and tell me that. The other electrician I had called charges by the hour at $125 per hour plus $80 service fee. How stupid do I feel? Plus during a pandemic they walked all around saying they needed to take photos, which was creepy, in case I said they did something wrong. They required my CVC security code on my Visa, which I have never had a service person do. Maybe this was a one-off bad experience but not likely.

Expensive! 2 out of 5 can lights in kitchen were not working. Over $400 (including $79 service fee) and an hour later the fix was a loose wire!

When I set up my appointment I was informed there was a $79 fee to come out but they said they couldn't possibly provide even a rough quote to install a chandelier and outdoor fan. I was skeptical but figured their pricing would be reasonable. The technician arrived today and using and showing me their "standard pricing book" quoted me an outrageous $700! The rep on the phone could have easily used their standard pricing book to give me a minimum quote to expect but instead stole my money.

I've already scheduled another appointment with a different company who waves their fee to come out (only $49 not $79) for first time customers and was able to assure me they could do it for $300 - $350 HALF OR LESS THAN WHAT SALT LIGHT TRIED PRICE GOUGING ME FOR!!

I've filed a BBB complaint. Definitely stay away from this company if you don't want to get ripped off.

If I could rate this place at zero stars and leave a review, then I would do it. I had a string of outdoor deck lights that had one section go out and they came over to my house and quote me $350 to fix it without even knowing what the issue was (it might have just been a bulb). Then when I said no that's ridiculous, then charged me a $79 fees to come to my home (they were here for 5 minutes). Total robbery. Don't call this place.

Should have paid attention to the negative reviews. $79 show up fee - fair. Then $760 to change some pool wiring. I had other quotes in the $300 range, which seems ok for a 2 hour job. When I told them it was too much they magically found something they didn't need to do to lower the price to $660. Hmmm... Still more than $330 an hour to run some wire! Must be nice to make that kind of money. Can't comment on work quality because I opted to find someone else to hire.

SALT sent a technician who installed a single plug and on/off switch (connected to another plug about 12 inches away). He was very nice and professional and did a good job. However, we were shocked when he finished (in about an hour) and said that the cost would be $689! We knew there was a $79 'show up' fee (fair) and that it would likely cost $200 or so......but how they justify over $500 for a fairly simple task is beyond me. We did go ahead because I had two other technicians already booked that afternoon who needed the electrical outlets to be in place. But...I will NEVER use this service again. I have talked with several electricians in our area who were similarly surprised by the fee.

I've used Salt twice and each time, I've been happy with their service. The last job was to rewire my AC condenser, because one of the legs was losing power. Daniel came out and quickly knew what was up. I let him know that I wanted to get another AC guy out before doing any work for a second opinion, so I did. AC guy tells me it's for sure an electrical issue, so the work will need to be done by an electrician. We got everything setup and Daniel and Cody were able to come out again and get the issue resolved. The work they did on the house looks great and I'm extremely thrilled with what they did.

I see there are a lot of reviews discussing the price of this service. While I understand concerns of pricing, my thoughts are - this type of work is not my expertise. When you're dealing with something that could burn your house down, you pay professionals. Professionals sometimes aren't cheap. This is part of the cost of home ownership. I know I can sleep at night and not worry about the electrical work in my house. They were thorough and very professional.

Side note: They came to my home while COVID-19 was happening. The extra precautions and care they took showed me how serious they were and how they respected my home. I thought this was great.

I would definitely recommend Salt to others.

Awful and scammy, took advantage of my lack of knowledge with electrical issues. The problem was entirely due to Austin Energy's install of a smart meter, but before the "diagnostic" was even complete, I was told I would need a full replacement of everything for almost 8k. BEWARE. High pressure sales tactics. Had a feeling a manager at the office was directing the electricians to pump me for more money. Don't fall for their Men of God routine, they're not honest in the slightest.

A caution regarding an unscrupulous electrical company. I contracted with Salt Light & Electric to fix an issue with a circuit breaker that kept tripping. When the technician arrived, he offered to do a $589 diagnostic or he could do a $280 breaker replacement. He went hard for the expensive diagnostic stating that it would come with a free breaker if it was the problem. I opted to have the breaker changed, thinking that it was the problem. After an inspection revealed that the breaker wasn't faulty, I went ahead with the diagnostic. To my surprise at billing time, I was charged for both, even though the technician said the breaker wasn't faulty. Since I had to sign before ANY work was done, it NEVER occurred to me that I was being double charged. When I contacted the company, I was told that I had paid for the breaker because that is what I signed authorizing them to do. I discovered AFTER the fact that despite telling me there was nothing wrong with the breaker, it was replaced, consequently incurring the charge. Salt Light & Electric not only stood by that decision, but made it a point to say that I had signed to have the breaker replaced, even though their technician determined that it wasn't faulty. The end result is that the "experts" claim that I determined that a breaker was needed when, in fact, had I opted for the diagnostics, the very first thing they would have done is checked and/or changed the breaker.

Beware of these shady business practices. Even their customer service rep who called me for a follow up was dismissive, rude, and ONLY concerned that everything was "by the book", so if I wanted to be upset then so be it!

Steer clear of these folks! They are terrible! My next steps are BBB and social media.
