Had SALT electric come out to fix a lighting problem in our attic. Technician that came to the house was great and was able to identify the problem and fix it. The company apparently routinely does a 30 point home inspection when they come out for service where they go and identify potential problem areas (no charge for this on the invoice). While this can be seen as helpful, it's also a way to sell additional services. We had our entire house rewired 10 years ago by licensed electricians, so the number of items that were determined on our inspection as "not in code" seemed unusual. Our problem turned out to be a simple replacement of a light switch that had been invaded by ants. They had a $79 service fee which seems standard for the industry. My bill for replacement of a light switch including service fee was $371.00 (time spent on fixing the problem was minimal) which seems extremely excessive for the actual problem. Not sure if I had refused the "30 point home inspection if price would have been any different but again there was no charge associated on the invoice. Rating related tp pricing.

BEWARE!! Reviews draw you in but wanted to let you know how this works. I called to get a bid. Can't give bids over the phone, guys must bid in the field with eye's on your job first. $79 trip fee just to get a price. I agreed. They show up and bid $1,100 to install four coach lights & 2 simple ceiling light fixtures. That's just labor. Of course we declined. This is at most a 1.5 to 2 hour job. I'm beyond shocked at this bid and grateful my wife declined the job.

To be be clear, they are very professional and nice people. I'm sure they'd install the fixtures properly. But that is price gouging in my opinion and I wanted to inform you so you know ahead of time that your paying $79 no matter what and be prepared for premium pricing.

Stay away from Salt Light & Electric! They wanted to charge me more than $6,000 for a new electric panel, which would not have solved my problem. Fortunately I found another honest electrician who discovered the problem was a lack of connection on the city's power side. Final cost to me $0 after Austin Electric replaced the connections on their end. Unfortunately, I had already paid Salt Electric more than $300 to check my power outlets on their first trip, which did nothing to resolve the problem. Salt's annual membership fee to obtain a lower price for services also is a huge red flag.

Way overpriced. WAY over priced. I'll say it again WAY OVER PRICED! I had a two technicians for 45 minutes look at the breaker for my utility room and outdoor electric. They changed nothing, they fixed nothing, the LOOKED at it. It cost $470!! Nothing was done. They do "flat fees," so you get charged no matter what they do. Ridiculous. My house is in the same condition it was before they came, yet I was charged almost $500. I called and talked to someone who dropped the price (supposedly, I haven't seen a refund) to $350. But still. $350 for 45 minutes of looking at my electric to deduce it wasn't worth working on. Come on. Ridiculous. I will never use them again and will vehemently not recommend them to anyone. Find someone who will come tell you the problem for a small service fee and THEN charge you for actual WORK.

We used Salt Light and electric because it was recommended by Home Adviser and they had been in business for many years. We had been having electrical sockets go dead (4 in 2 days) and we had an indoor breaker trip because of overload. Yes, they did a complete home inspection, and pointed out that both the outdoor breaker panel and indoor breaker panels were not to be considered safe. The home is 40 years old but we have been the only occupants since the home was built. It was definitely time to get things fixed! We had both outside and inside panels completely replaced and every outlet and switch in the home was also checked and replaced. This turned out to be a two day job for 4 electricians. They were very professional, courteous and explained what they were doing every step of the way. Their mantra was the customer must be happy with the work and we are. I verified they had been background checked, trained, and guarantee their work. We are 100% satisfied with what they did. They may not be the cheapest, but we feel we definitely got the best!

I contacted this company through Home Adviser. I was having a problem with one of 2 previously installed flood lights. The light was working but instead of turning off automatically after the movement sensor was activated the light stayed on but faded. I assumed it was an electrical
problem.
The tech from Salt Light and Electric advised me after I told him the problem was that it was a Level Two job which was $230 plus $79 service charge. This rate was good no matter how long it took to do the job. He did say that if I signed up for their "Safety and Security Plan" at $9.95 a month that the service charge of $79 would be waived for the work done. He lied. It wasn't waived. Management also refused to waive it.
The tech was on the job maybe 15 min. To say the $309 charged to change to flood lights from Test Mode to Dusk to Dawn Mode is OUTRAGEOUS is an understatement!!!! Their mode of operation is sly to say the least!!!! Stay away from Salt Light and Electric.

They are extremely over priced. I had to pay them $79 for a simple estimate that didn't involve even looking into my ceiling/walls. When I did receive an estimate the price was over $500 for less than an hour of work on a project that would involve minimal materials. I used to practice law in New York City and I would never charge these fees.

Essentially, I paid them $79 for a minute of their time.

Had Salt and Light come out and was initially turned off by their scheduler Bo's approach, but still agreed to let them come out to "quote". Needed 2 ballasts replaced (hardware cost is $20ea), qualified electrician showed up, very professional. $79 show up fee and $194 installation fee per ballast. After discount, $407 for litterally 30 minutes of work (after "discount".) Shop elsewhere. Quality service but ridiculous prices. They wouldnt estimate ballast replacement cost on phone so they could get trip fee and ultimately the total business (under premise of 100% satisfaction).

From Bo, who scheduled the work, to Ken and Jose, who came to the house, I was very impressed with the professionalism, knowledge and helpfulness of these guys. I had four ceiling fans and a whole house surge protector installed. They were very particular in getting everything correct, making sure the work area was clean and that I understood how to operate all the fans remotes. I thought the price, including the service charge, was fair. I will definitely use them again and would highly recommend to anyone needing a professional electrician.

I called them to replace a chandelier and an electric switch.
When on the phone, I asked them to give me a quote on the phone. The guy on the phone said each job is different and he can only give me a quote once he sees the job. I kept pushing him to at least give me an approximate quote or a price range but he said he needs to see the job.
When the guy shows up at my home, he goes through a price sheet and gives me a quote of $700 !!!. He could have given me this quote on the phone if all he was going to do was to go thorough a price sheet. I politely told him this was out of my range and paid the $79.
I feel that when I called them, they should have give me an approximate quote on the phone knowing that the job was replacing a chandelier.
I paid them $79 for doing nothing....
