Royal Mechanical Services, Ltd. (RMS) was founded as a division of Royal Home Protection, a company under Electronic Realty Associates, LP (ERA). The parent company, Royal Home Protection, Inc. was established in 1972 and rapidly emerged as a leader in the home protection and warranty sector. A major benefit was ERA's comprehensive, personalized database, allowing the capability to assess data instantly to enhance decision-making, enabling the company to act proactively.

During December of 1993, Tom and Charlene Shyver acquired Royal Mechanical Services from ERA and formed the company. Tom played a crucial role in the initial success of Royal with the parent company and identified an opportunity to connect customers with sites through technology while still encouraging a focus on personal communication. By keeping this focus, Tom and Charlene guided the company towards strengthening customer relationships. This database ultimately evolved into our RAZOR facilities management system.

For the initial three years following its revival, the Shyver family managed operations from their residence. As the customer base expanded and the brand grew stronger, more family members joined the team. Soon after, it became necessary to find a dedicated office and they relocated to a small office suite shared with a veterinarian.
