Tom S.I had rotor rooter put a pressure temperature relief valve on on April 5 2020. Now it leaks and the tech came over on Sept 6 2020 and said he would not replace it. I have the paper work with a 6 month guarantee. He told me that he could put a expansion tank on and then a new temperature relief valve on for about $600. Roto rooter seems not to be very customer friendly. Dont ever hire them. Stay away. There are far cheaper and better companies out there. I will call BBB and try small claims court.
Keith H.I had an issue with water backing up in the basement and Roto-Rooter made it worse by disregarding instructions to snake the line from the toilet and instead snaked it through a super small drain in the basement (after being told on the phone not to). The plumber then called, after he already started snaking from that smaller drain and said it was stuck. Well, that's why he was asked to go through the larger stack pipe in the toilet!
They made the problem worse, promised to come back the next day to attempt to remove their equipment from the line, then never followed up at all.
After calling them to schedule the already-promised attempt to remove their equipment, they refused to and instead offered to refund half the money spent. After asking the manager to instead just grab their equipment from the line (because now the problem is worse with their equipment being stuck in that pipe), he says...well we can refund all the money, but we can't get that equipment out of there without you paying $5,000.
Are you kidding me? If you were not confident in your attempts to snake the drain, don't attempt to. In fact, the instructions given were to NOT snake that drain in the basement and to snake the toilet since that is where I suspect the problem was.
It's nice that Roto-Rooter is available 24 hours per day, but I would be super careful to call them for any issues. They performed unauthorized work and are refusing to take responsibility. Definitely be super careful if having them work on your place, especially if you're not home at the time!!!
I'm sure some of their plumbers can communicate and do work that was performed...but in this instance, it was a pretty epic fail.
I had roto Roto-Rooter come over yesterday and they charged me $375 minus the $55 coupon plus tax to put a $15 part on my hot water tank. The plumber was Michael . Very nice and polite. I was price gouged. He had to go somewhere probably Lowe's and get the part. He was back about 1 hour later. I had told him that the part was only about 16 dollars after googling the night before. But I know nothing about hot water tanks or where the device was on my pressure relief valve. I explained to him what was leaking. He took it apart in 3 minutes and said it was corroded and he would have to go find one. He came back put it in and filled the tank up. Telling how much plumbing parts have gone up. I can't believe he took advantage of me. The address of roto rooter is 135 south avenue, West Seneca New York, 716 6256. I called today and someone was suppose to contact me. Roto rooter put a toilet in for me in November and did a wonderful job. So I called them back to look at my hot water tank. My total bill was $348 with tax. I would like a price concession, I would never ever recommend this company, I called twice to the complaint mgr and left a voice mail. This morning I called and left a message with Amanda. She said she gave the message to David the complaint mgr that I called. Do you think they are going to call me back? Next step will be file a complaint in West Seneca town for small claims concession
This company did something unethical. The tech at my home had me sign an agreement to send pictures of water damage to my homeowners insurance and then auto populated my signature in a contract stating charges would be up to 4500. They forged my initials and signature using my maiden name in other areas of the contractual agreement for services. I'm disappointed in myself for not asking more questions and asking to see the full scope of what I was signing off on on this man's tablet.
Services provided were good. The customer experience was terrible. My insurance didn't cover the water damage in my home and the tech kept pushing over and over that they always do. Be careful with these guys.
Technician was quick and efficient but I was overcharged for labor. For a 30 minute or less repair to replace a wax ring and reset a toilet I was charged $305 in labor. After this service appointment I called around to other plumbing services and quickly learned that I overpaid hundreds for a non-emergency service. When I asked the technician how much the wax ring would cost he told me that he didn't know and all he knew is that the total repair would cost $350. Save your money and pick a different plumber in the Buffalo/West Seneca area.
Bait & Switch
I had Roto Rooter out to clean out my sewer line after a flood. They said that a valve could be installed to prevent the back-up from happening again and said it would be between $2500-3000. Had them come out a week later to do a formal estimate. Quoted a completely different project at $6600. Wouldn't guarantee that this fix would keep the back-up from happening again. Guess who I won't be calling again.
Peter B.I am in the middle of a Roto Rooter cluster f**k! The photos are here.
The technician had to quit at 11pm last night saying they would have someone finish the work today. I called RR at 11:15 to find out there wasn't anybody coming until tomorrow!
The quote given was for 796.59. It's now 880.00 and climbing.
Louis Z.Great service and knowledgeable technicians. Both water removal and plumbing A+. Had one situation that came up, but it was resolved in less than 24 hours. We were very impressed!
We had a problem with one of our toilets not flushing correctly. I called a couple of local businesses, but they were busy and couldn't come for a few days. I just had surgery so was limited and needed them pretty quickly. I called Roto-Rooter and they gave us a 2-hour window (2pm-4pm), but they called me back to say there would be a delay because the guy had a truck issue and I was waiting on someone else who was already on a call. After a couple of calls by me to find out if they were any closer, I finally cancelled and rescheduled for the next day; a window of 8am-10am.
Next morning, promptly at 7:59am, Jason arrived and sorted out the issues in just over an hour. For about $325 he flushed out the system from the house to the main, gave me express instructions NOT to use ""flushable wipes"" (hint: they're not). Lesson learned. Nice guy, great service, reasonable price and a 6-month guarantee.
PLUMBING WAY OVERPRICED!
We had a burst pipe in our house. Called Roto Rooters. I felt the estimate was extremely high, so I got another estimate from Franks Mr. Plumber. The plumber from Franks repaired the broken pipe for 1/4 of the estimated cost of Roto Rooters ( and the Roto Rooters estimate was the minimum cost; their plumber said it could be more and he wouldn't know until he started work). The technician from Franks Mr. Plumber (Jerry) was excellent -knowledgeable and honest with 18 years of experience. I would highly recommend Jerry at Franks Mr. Plumber.
DO NOT USE WATER RESTORATION SERVICES! Unless you want the work done by unsupervised kids who probably make close to minimum wage and don't really care about following your instructions about how to handle your wet stuff and what can be disposed of. Day after day we had issues with their service and carelessness until we finally said that's enough, please leave, we will hire someone else to finish the job. I shouldn't have to babysit their workers because they won't provide any one on site to oversee the job. Further, they had promised us that they work nights and weekends, but then had no time to work nights or weekends for us. The workers told us they'd be there over the weekend and no one showed up. There seems to be communication issues between management and workers, likely because they have no one experienced or knowledgeable on site supervising. As soon as they book a job with you, they are more concerned about booking the next job then about do a good, timely job for you and keeping their promises. I could go on and on. Just save yourself the stress and don't use them!!! I've heard WNY Disaster Relief is excellent and we are now looking to have them finish the job.
