We called roto router to fix a leaky toilet, which should be a simple job. Guy comes and quotes us $325 for new toilet handles and flapper. Puts them in and says it's fixed. After he leaves I test the toilet and it actually leaks worse!! We call them up and they agree to come between 8 and 10 the next day. We get a call saying they are really busy and won't be able to make it until later. Never go with roto router, worst company I have ever dealt with.

I dont normally write reviews when services or goods are more expensive than others, because thats life, some things are expensive, some are cheap. However, the fact that the quoted price for very little work was astronomical compared to others, I figured I had to write something. We had a clog that was located just past the cleanout valve outside our house. It was backing up all the way to the shower upstairs. I called rotorooter the next morning. The guy arrived on time, and diagnosed it pretty quick. He said a camera was needed to see inside the cleanout valve. So, I agreed to the 275 price as this was in line with other companies. The manager had to come by since he had the camera. Apparently a belly had formed in the line which caused solids to get clogged, but liquids could pass. The manager said the line needed to be cut out and replaced. He went to get me a quote. The price......$3000.00. Well, actually $3100.00 and he said he would give me a 10% discount, so $2800.00. Thats to dig 18 inches, replace 59 INCHES of 3 inch sch 40 pvc pipe, and put dirt back on. He said the guy could get started today but it might be a two day job (this was at 10am). After the shock wore off, I went inside to call another company 75 miles away. The owner laughed and had a few choice words for the quote and company. He said he would do it for 500 plus gas and materials. Done. I went out and told the roto guys I would be going with someone else. He said that they guaranteed their work for 3 years. Well, I can call the other guy 6 times for that price. In the end I paid the other company $575. For the record, the other company offered to install a whole new septic system for $3600.00. I ended up digging the hole so the other guy could get it done quicker, which took 1 hour. I could have got it done in thirty minutes, but I was enjoying my coffee. The septic guy shows up, cuts the bent pipe, installs the new one with a coupler and levels it, and finishes with some concrete underneath to ensure it doesn't happen again. Only took an hour of work. VERY EASY STUFF. In fact Im embarrased I didn't do it myself. So in the end, avoid these guys unless you have money laying around. They were on time, and did what they said they were going to do, but the price was insane.

Multiple horrible experiences. I bought a new hot water heater that quit working within a year due to poor installation. Roto Rooter installed a new hot water heater after recognizing its mistake, but now the alarm on the second hot water heater is going off. I can't get them to come fix it. When I asked for the number for the general manager, I was given two separate telephone phone numbers. Each number was for a line that had been disconnected. Some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced!!

We live in the Irondale area of Bham, AL. We had an unexpected crisis today when our sinks & tubs started backing up. We called Roto Rooter & spoke to a friendly customer service person who arranged to have a plumber out asap. Keith White arrived within 30 minutes. He was professional and very helpful. He provided a thorough assessment of our problem, provided options for treatment, and beyond that, suggested long term resolutions to prevent future plumbing issues. He was respectful of us as customers & of our property. Roto Rooter & Keith provided the fastest response time at an affordable price. We felt like what we were charged was well worth the service received. We would definitely use Roto-Rooter again in the future & recommend them to others. - Jacob & Brooke

I am sure that in many cases Roto-Rooter is a great company to call. They are available 24 hours, and you know for the most part what you are getting. That is why we called them when our plumbing backed up on a Sunday. We paid for the first guy that came to auger the line, and he came back with news that our main pipe had collapsed, that we needed a whole new mainline, and that he'd be sending a guy out in the morning with a camera to survey the damage and give us an estimate. We were upset (of course), stressed, and spent the night with no running water. Not fun. The next morning, the guy with the camera arrives, and somehow magically breaks through a clog with his CAMERA. Gurgle, gurlge, all the water drains and everything is working again. He was obviously surprised at this, but still showed us some small roots coming through at the joints, said we still needed to replace the main line immediately, and gave us a (very pricey) estimate for them to replace about 3/4ths of our line. Luckily, it was a Monday and we got a call back from our regular plumbing company. They came out, augered the line both from the house and from the street, and showed us the camera views of the pipes. He told us that yes, our pipes were old, and would need to be replaced in the next 5 or 6 years, but should last us if we use root kill regularly and continue taking care of the system. He also mentioned that the problems we had were at the end of our pipes nearest to the street. This is the area that would not have been replaced according to Roto-Rooter. The proposed solution from Roto-Rooter would have cost us thousands and still would not have fixed the biggest problem area. My biggest complaint was that we paid the first guy to come out and simply clear the clog, and instead we got unneeded headaches, stress, and a still clogged line. The clog was obviously one that could be easily cleared since the second guy did it with his camera scope. I am also annoyed that we were told, even after it was established that we did not have a collapsed pipe, that we needed to immediately replace the line (starting that day). We have no cracks, no holes, no weak spots in our plumbing. I saw the whole thing through our plumber's camera. They were trying to get us to spend money that wouldn't have completely fixed the problem anyway. And to do it quick. I am sure that with Roto-Rooter it depends on the plumber sent to your home, but we were very dissapointed.

Quick arrival. Great service. Seemed a little pricey but I don't have any recent service elsewhere to compare their pricing against.

On 11/26/2022 Anthony from roto rooter came to our home to install pipes under our kitchen sink and sold us a product to put in our plumbing pipes to help flush our lines. The product was $110.57. Total charges were $788.55 for parts labor and the product. Anthony said he did not have not have the product on his truck but would bring the product to us on Tuesday. He never showed, we have called 4x to the office and no one has called back. We called last 12-16-22 to schedule another on-site service in hopes of resolving the issue and were told someone would be out 12-26-22 between 8-12pm. Still no one has shown. Worse still the pipe installed leaked because the connector from the disposal did not have a gasket so now our wood floor is warped. I would at least like the product we purchased dropped off or some one to answer my calls as I have left voice mails offering to pickup the product in person.

Had a pinhole leak in a water supply line in crawl space. Discovered it after two days of hearing odd noise through air ductwork. So after crawling under the house to locate the issue- I realised that it was time to call in the pros. I called at aprox. 10 am on a Saturday and Mitchell and Bill were out to the house with-in 45 minuites- and quickly asssessed the problem- gave me a fair price in my opinion-(considering what it would have cost me to buy the tools and other equipemnt to fix it myself- I do know how to braze copper pipe and that outlay would have been more than the 335.00 they charged) and within an hour had the issue under control. They were polite, professional and honest. Will be using this company again should the need arise. And they also informed me that the shut-off valve at the meter wasn't working properly- so will be calling Irondale water utility to address that issue. Thank you!

I would not recommend Roto-Rooter to anyone wishing to have totally transparency and honesty. They came into my home to restore a room from water damage. They informed me I had mold and that they would check the insulation to ensure it was not damaged. When I returned to my home. There was no evidence they checked the room for mold. They did not take up the entire floor for drying the water. The contractor pulled up the remainder of the flooring where water still remained. They damaged the door frame to a closet. They charged for moving items they did not move. They attempted to charge me 6600.00 dollars for services they did not render and attempted to use intimidation to get me to pay. I presented them with videos as evidence of this. If I could give them zero stars I would.
