Jason M. was great. He was very up front and informative about what needed to be done and the steps involved. He didn't candy coat anything and just gave me what I needed to hear about getting my plumbing issues resolved. He was diligent and worked efficiently during the service call. I appreciated the honesty and professionalism. I would call back and request him in a heartbeat.

Most of my original commentary stands, however, Jeff did take the time to hear me out, evaluate the situation, and has ended up refunding my dad a large chunk of the overcharge. While that's certainly commendable, I have to wonder how many people get talked into spending multiple times over market value for services by field technicians instead of being advised to call a residential plumbing contractor for larger/specialized jobs. Without knowing the compensatory pay structure for field technicians and/or management relative to these (or any) sales, it's difficult to ascertain who this unsavory business practice is driven by. Regardless, the fact that it occurred (and presumably occurs to others) is unsettling to say the least. Final recommendation: If you need a drain unclogged, give Rotorooter and a competitor a call for a quote. If anybody suggests that you need serious ($500+) work done, call at least 3 residential plumbing contractors for quotes and check their work before making any decisions.

In the past I have used Rotorooter and have been quite pleased with the service. I was pleased with the service rendered on this occasion. What I was not pleased with was the price of the service - it was $300 more than the going rate. I should have refused the service at that time but didn't. Maybe this lesson will benefit others - I learned the hard way that even if the price of service was competitive on previous usage, it doesn't mean that the price will be competitive now.

Not real sure about these guys. We had a total drain blockage exactly one month ago on Saturday. A person promptly came out and charged $443 to clear the drain which also included scoping out the line. The drain was cleared but the serviceman said the line was rough but his scope was not working so he would send out someone the next day. A person showed up the next day on Sunday and it appeared the line from the house to the street had severe corrosion and would cost $6600 to replace and install a cleanout. I called the next day to try to schedule and was unable to get a live person but left a message. I again left a message a couple of days later. The next Sunday still no call back but someone called about sending someone out to scope the drain. We told them it had already been done. A couple of weeks later, the tech who did the original scoping called to see if we had made up our minds about having the work done. Now a couple of weeks later I get a call to see if we wanted ""our line cleaned out"" from a different person who gave his name but did not identify the company and hung up when I asked who they were. I got the company name from reverse lookup. Very poor follow through and I'm not sure I trust them to do the work properly.

Was able to make an appointment easily by phone and choose a four hour window. Justin called first, arrived on time and promptly cleared my smelly shower drain and recommended a course of action to keep it from happening again. If it goes another year without trouble, I would give five stars, but need to see if this works. So far so good.
