Ron did a good job fixing my sump pump issue. However the charge was outrageously high! Originally he asked me to pay $475 then per my logical question concerning so high price for just one hour of labor with no parts replaced, he decreased the amount to $405 which is still abnormally too high!
Bob S.Had RotoRouter out a few times to fix a clogged toilet. My 50 year old toilet finally overflowed. Ordered a new toilet from Home Depot and Roto-Router replaced it; changing the flange in the process. Process took a couple of hours. Had a dehumidifier and a fan in my barhroom drying for 4 days. Very happy with the quality of work from Roto-Router. Very understanding Technicians. Kept me well informed through out the process
Worst experience ever, they wanted to scam me and my family out of $15,000 dollars!!!
I had a clogged main sewer, called roto rooter and they came out that night. The technician wasn't able to help us and he blamed it on a collapsed pipe. He said there wasn't much he can do and originally this would have cost us about $450 but because there was a collapsed pipe Roto-rooter was only going to charge us $350.
They sent a camera crew out the next day, and he confirmed that it was collapsed and told us our only alternative was to break up the concrete in our basement and install a new line for $15,000.
I called a different local company for a second opinion and they were about to finish the job that Roto-rooter could not and verify that the was no collapsed pipe with their camera equipment after clearing the line.
This has been the worst experience I have ever experienced and I'm so distraught that Roto-rooter wanted to scam my family and I out of $15,000.
DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICE AT ALL COST!!!!
Go anywhere else! I had 2 small gas leaks and it was over $1,000 for less than 2 hours worth of work. Charged me $75 for parts that are less than $20 at home Depot. Plus I called for emergency service at night and they couldn't even send someone out till the next day saying the plumbers only work during the day. Don't claim to be 24 hours service then!! I would've got ahold of a regular plumber that was more affordable if I knew they weren't going to be able to help me in a timely manner.
Mark P.Dave K. (Tech 2666) from Roto-Rooter came out to our house yesterday to help us a resolve a plumbing issue. He was fantastic, friendly, and knowledgeable. He did a great job informing me of my options and helped me choose the best solution for my situation.
Would definitely prefer Roto-Rooter and Dave K. over any other similar services.
Thanks!
Rotor-Rooter blew off my initial appointment and was late that next day. Then they gave me a price of $430 for snaking a clogged kitchen sink!! Their competition is less than half that, and I have hired another company to do the job for $170.
Called the company serving south Minneapolis for a kitchen drain clog and was told that they couldn't give me a stated price for kitchen drain clogs but that the technician would provide an estimate when on-site. A day later, the technician arrived, very pleasant individual, and didn't do any looking but simply stated that it would be $430 for the kitchen drain. Absolutely thievery not to mention the business tactics! The practice of giving an estimate when present in the home puts the homeowner in bind to pay the outrageous price or to send the technician away leaving the drain clogged. AND the company absolutely knows the price they charge for each drain (the technician does not set the price) but do not inform the customer over the phone because most likely the customer will take their business elsewhere upon hearing the quote. I stood by my principles and sent the technician away, refusing to pay such an outrageous price.

First time I called, they can send someone out during a weeknight, which was great since I work. There is a $0 fee. I get a call during the day asking if they can come. I said it was scheduled for the evening. The person said they see that and they will be there that evening. Few hours later I get another call and am told that they DON'T come out in the evening and there is a $169 charge to come out. When I reschedule there is a $69 fee that can be waived if they do the work. I take the afternoon off for the work. I get a call in the morning and asked if they can come out. They inform me then that they need the water shut off. I live in a condo and can't do it so they wasted my time and clearly don't train their employees well. Seems like it depends who you talk to what they charge. Would not suggest them even if desperate.
Terrible service, criminal pricing. - I had a leaking faucet on the basement utility sink. Scheduled for a visit between 10:00am and 2:00pm. They never showed up. They called to schedule for the next morning first visit of the day. Next day get a call saying they would be here in an hour or less. Showed up in 1 1/2 hours so another half hour late (apparently my time is not worth anything).
Plumber arrives looks at the sink, says if he can fix the valve it will be 435$ if he has to replace the faucet it will be $750ish not including the faucet. I made the mistake of letting him look at the faucet, he said it would need to be replaced as he could not remove one of the faucet handles. I told him no way am I paying $750 for a new utility sink faucet and sent him on his way. I was charged $159 for basically nothing. I then replaced the faucet myself for $40.
The parts to fix the faucet would have cost about 14$ and about a half hour of work if that. Replacing it was just a bit more at 40$ and still only took 1/2 hour. Oh, and that half hour repair included me pulling the faucet handle off that he could not remove. I wanted to see just how stuck it was.
Horrible service, outrageous pricing. I suspect they price high so they can just collect the fee for showing up. when clients balk at their prices. This way they get paid for nothing.
Don S.Quick and minor septic tank issue that took the repairman less than half an hour to fix. The part was said to cost $110, which may be true but also seems rather high. The total charge: $575, and that's AFTER an initial quote of $675, then dropped to $600 before the final charge. The repairman mentioned that serving downtown Minneapolis is a problem as rationale for the crazy-overblown charge, though the number we called connected to the address listed here is just three blocks away. So, the message received is that Roto-Rooter - even its downtown Minneapolis location - prefers not to serve downtown Minneapolis at all, and if they must, they will charge you an absolutely ridiculous amount of money.
Do not use Roto-Rooter if you live anywhere near downtown Minneapolis, or your pocketbook will be punished. Look anywhere else for plumbing help.
And a follow-up, less than one month after the so-called ""repair"" by the person Roto-Rooter sent us:
The ""fix"" is already broken again. This was straight-up extortion by Roto-Rooter for terrible work at a wildly overblown price. Do not believe ""satisfaction guaranteed"" or any of their other false claims. Again, I would look anywhere else and hire anywhere else than this company. This was a complete flat-out failure. And still no response from the corporation.
