Fred Eben came to service our home in Delray Beach, FL, in April and I was absolutely amazed by his professionalism, politeness and taking the time to explain to me how various components of the drainage systems were laid out throughout the house and how the jetting system worked to clean ot the pipes. It seems that we had 18 years of accumulated grease from the kitchen that finally blocked the pipes and backed up the water all the way throughout the bathrooms and even the showers drains. I had no clue. It's kinda like when your arteries are blocked and they put a balloon in there to open them up, although they use 4,000 lbs of water pressure for cleaning out the pipes.

I usually wait until I frequent someplace a second time before writing a review, but considering this was a service to have my toilet drain unclogged [main branch line, techinically], hopefully I will not have to use this service anytime soon, so I'll submit the review now! Unlike some of the other reviews, I had no issue with responsiveness of the staff who took the call to their 1-800 number, nor with the service tech. When I called the service number on late Friday, I specifically wanted a appointment between 8-10 AM on Saturday, so I could get this clogged drain unclogged first thing, and I would not be wasting any of my day waiting, and waiting. The woman who answered my call at first said the service window was between 8-12, but when I pressed her a bit, she checked with the dispatcher and responded """"I can give you the 8 AM - 10 AM slot"""". So far, so good. When asking for an estimate, she explained that they do not provide one on the phone, and that when the tech came to my home, he would assess the problem, and give me a price for the job, regardless of the time it took. It was a no-cost assessment, no minimum charge for showing up. I had used Roto-Rooter before, and did not recall this, and when I asked her to check what I paid before, she pleasantly did. I figured, ok, it will be more than that, considering the time which has passed. I received a phone call Saturday at 7:50 AM, advising me that the tech would show up in less than one hour. At 8:05, the door bell rang, and Berris was there, asking me directly, no nonsense, """"what is the problem, show me"""". I'm pleased, since he showed up so early, and wasted no time asking to see what the problem was. I led him to the bathroom, flushed the toilet, he saw the water backed up, and that the shower adjacent to it also had water in it, as I had run the water to demonstrate that it did not go down the drain. He told me that it would be $320 to snake the drain through the flush out thing [not sure what it is called] which is located outside the house, and my first reaction was """"wow, that's a lot of money, more than I paid before, but am I going to shop around with other plumbers, and maybe save $50-$75?"""", and frankly, it's about what it would cost to have lunch for two, without alcoholic drinks, [but with bottled water and coffee!] and tip at J. Alexanders, and all that food just gets dumped out the next day, while this drain really needed to be cleared, and Berris seemed like a nice old man, so what the heck, let's get it done with, cause it was a beautiful day and I wanted to take a walk and swim. Berris snaked and snaked and snaked, and at first, the snake went up the line to the bathroom toilet which was NOT clogged, and he had to pull it out, and start again, and he asked me """"to pray that I can get this ole snake up the right line"""", in a heavy Jamaican accent, and I responded """"I'm not really into prayer, but in this case, I'll shoot one up there and see what happens"""". I told Dennis to pray, considering he an ex-alter boy and actually knows how to pray. Dennis said """"you're nuts and I said """"placate me"""". After much prayer, from him, Dennis and myself, he got it up the right line, and like magic, the drain cleared and the toiled emptied, as well as the tub. I asked him to snake the line toward the street, and he said """"why, it ain't clogged there"""", and I responded, """"right, but I am sure there are roots growing in that old drain line, cause there were many the last time it got clogged, so while you are here and sitting down and snaking, just snake some more."""" He complied, and of course, there was a miniature tree growing in that line, looked like something in a jungle. See my pictures. The tech was a nice Jaimican gentleman, working real hard, even though he was challenged walking due to a bad knee. I gave him a recommendation for an outstanding orthopedic surgeon who specializes in knee replacement, and counseling on his insurance. After all, isn't that what Yelp Elite guys are supposed to do? Oh, there are $40 discount coupon on-line, check their website before you call for service to download and print the coupon. So my service cost $320 less $40, plus a nice tip cause I was happy I could take a dump in that toilet now, and he really earned the tip, considering the crap he has to deal with and the manual labor he engaged in. And I know a lot of people don't tip at all, cause they figure they just paid $280 to get their drain unclogged and they are pissed. I was relieved [literally and figuratively], and I ain't taking that money to my grave, right? So, for those that trash Roto Rooter, I've used them 3x in the last 11 years, counting this time, and never had an issue. And their work is guaranteed to 6 months. My only problem now is what am I going to use to clean my butthole if I don't use those flushable wipes that clog the drain cause they get caught up in the roots and the cracks in those old pipes?

Robert from Roto Rooter came out a few hours after calling for service, he was very professionally and very knowledgable. The price was more than fair for the amount of work and time that was put in to fixing our problem. I'd highly recommend their service to anyone.

As recent first time home buyer, I have to say I was very inexperienced with plumbing issues. Thanks to my realtor, I learned that calling Roto-Rooter would be my best bet. She was 100% right. Let me waiting all day, even thou they called to confirm the appoinment several timnes during the day, then got a call to say they wer enot able to make it and need to reschedule and their next available appointment was days ahead. Terrible reliability
