***Update on the review I left on 2/25/18***
Managment immediately contacted us and addressed the complaint very professionally
Very Poor Service from the time we got the plumber arrived at the location. We have been calling Roto-Rooter for past four years and their customer service level has dramatically dropped to a very unprofessional zone. The lack of professionality from the plumber, their lack of ownership, urgency and attention to customer needs are so obvious that we are noticing a pattern which tells so much about the culture of the company. We are definitely looking for other companies with more professional attitude, skills to probelm solve efficiently and sensitivity to customer needs.
The plumber literally refused to completed his work and the mess he had created which for past four years it was the case that plumber would clean up at the end. He was so unprofessional as when we refused to pay him upon speaking to his manager on Monday he had an audacity to make a comment that he have collection agency contact us.
We are outrageous with level of service and professionality we have experienced today and will definitely file a complaint to the management and higher level of this company. I will be leaving this poor review at Google as well.

***READ OTHERS REVIEWS TOO ABOUT OVER CHARGING***
So I have a tub thats not draining. Guy shows up and gives me a quote of $390. Lets do some math. $390 for a 1/2 hour of work. Thats like what $800 dollars an hour. I pay $400 an hour for a good attorney and I don't see many attorneys lining up to be plumbers. I told that guy to get the hell out of my house.
I called someone else and had the job done for $95.
Use at your own risk.

We've only had positive experiences with all Roto Rooter plumbers over the years. We recently had a great experience with Nick. He is knowledgeable and goes above and beyond to make sure we get the work done right. Highly recommend!

Called Roto-Rooter to fix clogged sink in bathroom and it was fixed however price that was agreed was extremely overcharged from what we initially agreed on. From 390 for sink backed up we went to 610 in blink of an eye. Just mentioned that toilet is not flushing and guy charged additional 200 for assessment that we need new toilet.
Now on service:
1. We did receive heads up call almost 1:30 before arrival saying that technician will be here in 30 min.
2. Technician didn't wear any shoe protection entering carpeted apartment
3. If I didn't lay out towel in front of the sink we would have fleeces, hair and other gunk on our carpet (we rent and there is carpet in front of the sink ugh )
4. That same towel went to garbage after he was done, no way in hell that I'm washing that thing.
5. Without quote and clear explanation what would be done technician ""snaked"" our toilet and chugged that up to those 200+ with recommendation that we need new toilet.
6. This is not the first time I'm calling Roto-Rooter and having this kind of experience (prior to this I had another intervention that ended in overcharging)
7. My sink siphon was broken by the same guy who charged me for it afterwords.
I don't have enough time to continue writing so there you go for now. I would not recommend this company to anyone, unless you like being overcharged and deceived.

I had a leak under my kitchen sink just in time for the holiday. I received service the same day. My serviceman worked hard to fix the problem which eventually required replacement. He was clean, thorough and courteous throughout.

Had a very bad experience with Roto Rooter. I had two leaky toilets. The plumber came and fixed it by replacing the plastic shank fill valve in both toilets, one handle and one valve. It took him 45 to 50 minutes. But he charged me 525 dollars for labor alone. So I had to pay 623.14 totally. This is insane.
It was my mistake that I should have inquired him how much it would cost before asking him to fix it. But I was totally disappointed at the final cost. If you are calling Roto router please confirm the cost upfront or call some other company who does charge you hourly. I would never ever call Roto Router again.

Drain backed up on a Saturday afternoon. Water on the floor and afraid to use the sinks, toilets, etc. I called the plumber who installed my fixtures -- no answer. I called the plumber who did our backflow testing -- no answer. I called ""Wizard"" a 24/7 plumber who returned my message after 15 minutes and said someone could be out tomorrow. I was so relieved that Roto-Rooters were actually opened and answered my call.
They took down my information and promised someone would come out between 4pm and 8pm (it was currently 2pm.) The operator said it had been a crazy morning and everyone was busy. Not great but still the best offer so far. I was worried about what to do at 8pm if no one showed up though. I got a call at about 2:30pm from a really nice sounding guy saying he was on the way and would be there in 30 minutes!
As it turned out, I had managed to reach an individual (not a company) who was immediately available and already on his way so I canceled the Roto-Rooter guy. If I'd known they would actually be available in 30 minutes, I would have waited them. The cancellation process wasn't hard although I felt a bit guilty.
Given the ease of reaching them on the weekend and the speed they actually dispatched, I would definitely keep Roto-Rooter in mind for future emergencies.
PS: The operator said that Roto-Rooter provides on-the-spot estimates and you don't have to accept, although, obviously, in an emergency situation, you don't have a lot of choice.

Update: I was contacted promptly by Pat and subsequently by a manager with the Menlo branch. The manager was professional, courteous, and had taken the time to read my email. We discussed the situation and he asked if the leak had been addressed to my satisfaction. I explained that it had been.
I was able to work out a mutually satisfactory arrangement with the folks at Roto Rooter and feel good about updating my original review. It's really good to know that even though things did not work out as planned that the Roto Rooter team was committed to making it right by this customer.
Updating my original review to 4 stars!

My technician's name was Alex. He was professional, nice, neat and thorough. He solved my sewer back up problem and took the time to explain the services he was going to perform and then after the job was done went over the work. I have used them before and would not hesitate to call them again.

On time, efficient, explained what needed to be done and did it. This is the second time I have called Roto Rooter (previously in 2015). thank you Luis!!!
