VERY DECEPTIVE !! Stay away.

$276/hour charges and charged without ever giving a price in advance or written quote.

We mistakenly called them when having an issue and were only told hours and never given actual price per hour.

Manager when asked to adjust was rude, aggressive and unwilling to correct either their practice or their price.

Our technician was Jesus. He was very pleasant and competent. He arrived ahead of time in a clean truck. I showed him the problem and the clean out. He told me the minimum rate for this job was $375. He then helped me up off the floor when I fainted :-)!. He finished the job in 15 minutes. I told him $375 for 15 minutes is $1500 per hour! You make more than most lawyers! Otherwise, I would have given 5 stars.

The work was done well and he worked efficiently. My recommendation is to use Roto-Rooter when you have an emergency, at night, holidays or weekends when you can't get your regular plumber. My situation occurred on a holiday.

These guys are a waste of time. Kept giving phone promises that they would show up
but never did. Finally had to find another provider. Don't bother calling them.

I have now had Roto Rooter come out 4 times this year (although there were only 2 problems, and only 1 was fixed).

First, Roto Rooter is very responsive. They accommodate your schedule and get out very quickly. Their technicians are all very nice and pleasant to work with. So why 2 stars? Let's start with my first problem in January. I had roots in my drainage pipe leading from my sump pump to the street. The first person came out, worked on it for a couple hours, then left saying he had fixed the problem. Problem was not fixed. I emailed a manager who sent another technician (who told me he is one of the top level technicians they have) who fixed the problem. Although I was greatly relieved, I should not have had to go through contacting a manager to get someone to do what I had already paid for.

Next, my sump pump broke and my basement flooded. I needed someone to fix the pump. That's all. 2 technicians came out and tried to snake the drain (I told them that wasn't the problem). After being here for an hour or so, they told me that the sump pump was broken and that they couldn't do anything (when I first called for help, I told them my sump pump was broken and to send someone to fix it). They said someone would come by tomorrow to FIX the pump. Wasted time. These same technicians called the remediation/restoration technician who wanted to charge me $3,000-$5,000 to drain the water out of my basement. This did not include drying anything out or dealing with any mold, just pumping water out. I said ""No thank you"" and got all the water pumped out with my hose and $50 back up pump.

The next day, another technician came (sent by the first two) who was supposed to fix my pump. All he did was check for electricity going to the pump and pulled up on the float switch and told me he ""assumes the pump is broken."" This assumption was made without even touching the pump or making a physical inspection (the pump is at the bottom of a pit and he never disconnected or touched the pump). Basically, all he did was do what I already had done. Then he wanted to charge me $1700 for a replacement pump (got it elsewhere for $450), and charge me $789 to install it (I installed it myself in 30 minutes a few years ago and have zero technical training or background and found someone else who will install it for $280). When I contacted a manager about being charged $125 for the ""inspection"" I was told that the technician charged me for less than an hour's time as if that justified the charge when he basically did nothing.

Again, I think Roto Rooter can help if you're really in a jam, but you will be paying a lot more than you need to and will deal with people who are just looking for the big pay off rather than the cost-effective fix.

We had sewage back-up at our two cleanouts in the front yard. I called Roto Rooter because I've used them before and they have all the tools and terrific service. I scheduled a time for the service and the dispatcher called me to confirm, then called me to say a plumber was on the way. You won't find that with many plumbing contractors.

I was greeted by Arnulfo, who gave me a quote, accepted the $50 Yelp online coupon , and explained how he was going to tackle the job. The short run to the City line was relatively easy and showed some roots. The run from the house to the front cleanout proved troublesome, as the double blade could not clear the stoppage! Arnulfo explained that this was probably due to an offset and/or collapse in the pipe. He tried again with a single blade, and voila!, it broke thru. Arnulfo asked me to run hot water and flush toilets to help clear out any sludge in the lines.

I really appreciate the Arnulfo's craft and dedication to his job. I can see that he really enjoys his job and it makes for a great customer experience for me. Thanks Roto Rooter and Arnulfo! Woot!!

I waited up half the night for an emergency job. This company kept pushing the time back making excuses. I will never be calling them again and I would caution anyone else considering giving any business to Roto-Rooter!

Watch your wallet!
We needed a shut off valve installed and were quoted $260/hr. If we didn't need it right away, would not have used them. Never again.

Stanton made our Thanksgiving!

I meant to write this sooner, but here it goes. Despite having a disposal, my mother clogged my sink with brussel sprouts at 2pm on Thanksgiving Day. After an hour or so of trying to unclog the sink ourselves, we called in the professionals. Stanton showed up soon after calling and was knowledgeable, courteous, and respectful of the cooks in the kitchen. He quickly solved the issue and was able to offer help with further prevention/ offered insight into the cleanliness of my building's pipes.

I offered Stanton a plate of Thanksgiving dinner numerous times, but he was laser-focused on the problem at hand and not imposing. Stanton is an asset to Roto-rooter- I hope he's recognized within the org for his professionalism.

I just had a great experience both with Roto-Rooter and with their ""Water Restoration"" service, aka, the people who can clean up your space if you have a plumbing disaster. The ""Water Restoration guys arrived on the scene even faster than the plumbers, gave me an honest quote, came when they promised, did an excellent job and even threw in a little extra service just to be very thorough since I've got kids using the space. I couldn't be more pleased. If you can, ask for tech Armando (#1318) and James (1305). They are friendly and great at their jobs.

Supposedly 24/7 and can do emergency calls in weekends at no extra charge. My husband called to get them out to our house and they say they can get to our house Monday. It's SATURDAY! Not exactly what you would call urgent services.
