No complaints on an emergency, pretty major drain clog clearing on my sewer lateral on a Sunday evening. Had guests in the house so no choice to wait until Monday morning. They showed up within 30 minutes of me calling and were thankfully able to cut out the roots in the line with a couple of passes and finish in an hour. The technician Gabe was courteous and explained things as he went along. It was $250, so not cheap but I had called another firm who could not make it out until Monday and they were $300 minimum if they had come out. So given Roto Rooter fixed the issue on an emergency basis with a prompt response, I felt it was fair deal.

The plumber was initially very kind and maintained a professional attitude throughout the work he did. The work first called for was a bit pricey but worth it. He returned to address another problem and as he left he explained that roto-rooter would no longer do business with me due to the nature of my communication. I did not swear or threaten him in any way, i was civil. He was referring to my bi-polar which is obvious. I even recorded him and during that time he did indicate that his decision to not work for me again was based on my disability.
I have phoned the CA disability rights and am awaiting the paperwork to fill out.
I have never ever filed a discrimination charge although it has happened before. Not a single person actually refused to do business with me as a result of my disease.

The staff is extremely friendly, including the techs. They explained the situation well, and despite an initial scheduling problem, in general had great communication.

That said, I had a bad experience with them that I thought I should share. On their site, Roto claims they will not charge a fee for running an estimate. However, this seems to depend on the location and the issue. Our property is fairly remote, so I understand why they would want to charge - but it's especially frustrating given what I experienced.

We had an issue with one of our propane water heaters. Roto Rooter techs came out and concurred that they problem existed, suggesting a solution that would cost $8000. Obviously not something we'd be interested in doing. They did not truly diagnose the issue, but nevertheless, I was charged that fee.

Roto Rooter called back suggesting they could do another truck roll (another $400!) to see if they could further determine what the problem was, but that they could make an exception this time and credit that fee back towards any eventual service I elected.

Meanwhile, I got a second opinion from a local plumber who immediately determined that the issue was the propane regulator. He replaced that $50 part, charged me a nominal fee for his time, and we were back in business.

I get it - no one is perfect, but this particular plumber fixed the problem in an hour and charged me less than these guys charged me to do a truck roll that resulted in no answers.

Roto Rooter Santa Rosa came out to my house and gave me a FREE estimate and carefully explained their charges and procedures. I chose to decline their services in order to 'shop around' and after a half hour of them determining the problem and explaination, I declined. The were very professional and friendly. Most importantly they graciously gave me other options and left without giving me a bad attitude for not hiring them for the job. I appreciated that and it showed professionalism. Good job Douglas!

I was sure that the maple tree roots had invaded the septic system AGAIN. So I called Roto Rooter for help. Jeremy was at the house within an an hour and a half of my phone call. He solved my immediate problem (slow flush). Meanwhile, he gave advice on ""back-up"" prevention for the 2 low-flow toilets, and kitchen sink in my 40 year old mobile home. He gave a quick class on routine drain maintenance, gave information about the flawed septic system, answered all my questions, and was gone in under an hour. Jeremy went above and beyond - Very affordable and money well spent. Entirely satisfied, I have put the contact into the cell phone for future reference.

Santa Rosa Roto-Rooter employees Gabe Ateneio and Jose Avalos are five star employees. We had water leaking in our garage do to a pipe backup issue. Gabe & Jose arrived at the scheduled time, we're knowledgeable & very courteous. They discovered the source of the problem, did the repairs in a timely manner and did not leave until they were sure the problem was solved. We appreciate their service and kindness.

Had them out twice for a blocked line within a month period, and they charged me for the second visit. Apparently they don't guarantee their work if they have to go through the toilet, like they did at our house. When the problem continued, I decided to have the line scoped and called Mr.Rooter (at a friend's recommendation-they'd replaced her sewer pipe) because I was tired of forking out money to Roto Rooter. Mr. Rooter's tech arrived half an hour after I called. He was very professional, answered all my questions, and even talked on the phone to our regular plumber to clarify what he found with the scope. The tech also told me they guarantee their work for a year no matter what so I'm wishing I'd gone that route from the beginning.
