Roto Roger in the North Bay Area is the last plumbing company I will ever call. I had a septic tank that needed to be pumped and stupidly I called Roto Roger because of the name. They came out with one truck who called another truck and then they called a third truck and charged me for all three trucks and didn't do the job. It was obvious that all they wanted was to get as much money as they could. After they left and one of their guys shorted the pump, they wanted to have me buy a new pump from them at an exorbitant price. I sent them away and called another company, they suggested I order the pump on my own from the net that was a fraction of what Roto Rooter wanted to charge me and this new company installed it for me and made sure that everything was working properly and told me that their work is warranted for three years. So be very careful and definitely don't use Roto Rooter

Used them 1 year later than 1st review. I give them 5 stars for Kevin and his knowledge to fix and solve our problem but 0 stars for not telling us their prices had increased dramatically. $235 an hour a year ago and wasn't told on the phone when I made the appointment that rates had gone up 67%! First thing Kevin said was ""did they tell you about our new rates"" Nope! $375 no matter how long it takes to correct although it includes a 6 month guarantee. At that point, my sewer is clogged and I don't have time to call other companies and wait longer to correct our problem. Now I know to call other companies and ask rates up front as this was $375 for 45 minutes of work!

Do. Not. Call. Roto-Rooter!

This is one of the worst services I've ever seen. I am writing this review to warn people that they are are a fake shell company that has their techs on commission, so that each 'independent contractor' only makes money on how much they can charge, regardless of whether they get the job done or not.

I had a back-up due to root infestation in the sewer drain pipe, which causes the sump pump to clog up. I have had this problem fixed by real plumbers quickly and easily.

The customer service is abysmal. I described the problem in detail to a bored, rude young woman who is probably being paid close to minimum wage and wants to make sure that the quality of her work is less than what she's paid.

The tech they sent out, Jose, has a serious attitude problem. He was not informed about the detailed instructions I gave to the unpleasant young woman. He was only told about the rooting part of the job and he refused to help me clean out the sump chamber and stood and watched me, an old guy on social security finally put on a pair of rubber gloves and do it myself.

I had already removed the cover, pulled it apart except for two flanges that required a plumbers wrench. We pulled up the pump and he pulled up the float and then charged me $248 dollars for two minutes work.

He didn't seem to want to do what I called him for (Snaking the line) and after I confronted him about the exorbitant tip-off charge on the first part of the job that I did 90% of, he did a very brief half-assed snaking that I have no confidence in. $580 dollars later, he left. I feel cheated.

I would complain to a manager, but after hearing him on the phone with his supervisor, I realized that his rip-off mindset comes from the top. Don't get ripped! Don't call this phony shell

Plumber Jose Clemente gave excellent service, super fast, super courteous, and he answered all of our questions. Cool professional who knows his trade! Thank you for unclogging our tub!!!

They had to come out twice to fix the issue entirely and the service in the office was terrible. I spoke with Shelly a few times and she had a completely unaccepted attitude both times for no apparent reason. Customer service is far from priority with her. Needless to say I'll be finding a new plumber.

They are scamming people. They replaced 2 valves on my toilet in less than an hour and charged a total of $435.20. Find yourself another plumber don't go to Roto-Rooter!

Terrible service. Our sewer line was backed up. Plumbing in the house completely unusable. Called Roto around 10 AM and was told we'd have a tech show up between 3:30 and 5 PM. Roto did call back later and state that they were backed up, would have a tech show up later, but couldn't give us a time. I waited till 8:30 PM and then called their answering service. The answering service showed no-one was scheduled to visit us that night! Answering service got ahold of a tech who called us. First words out of his mouth were ""did they tell you about the new price?"" They now want just under $400.00 (standard rate non-after hours emergency) to clean the line, more than TWICE what it cost just two years ago when we last used them (yes the exact same company). Never again.

I have used roto rooter two times for plumbing problems in an old house where no repair is ever straight forward. They were able to fix both problems that others had tried to do and failed. They and knowledgeable and efficient. I recommend them highly. Joan F.

Our drain blocked up yesterday around 11:30am. Found this company on Yelp and called them. I was told someone would be out between 12-2pm. Jeremy arrived at 1:30. It was apparent he really knew his business. He found the clean-out and roto-rooted the drain; it was blocked with roots. Things were back to normal in an hour.

If I could give Roto-Rooter in Santa Rosa a minus review, I would. Though the service person came out quickly, that's the only thing he did. Our complaint was a blocked toilet. The service person said he unblocked the pipe but the toilet still wouldn't flush without the water coming up to the top edge. The service person (who had no idea what he was doing we realized later) said we needed a new toilet so we bought one immediately and had it installed. This still did not solve the problem. Finally, our maintenance person removed the block by placing a high-powered blower onto the wax ring where the pipe is located just under the toilet. He had the drained cleared in less than 5 minutes and put the original toilet on and everything has worked fine for over 6 months.

Roto Rooter sent us a bill for $419. When we declined to pay due to a poor job and incorrect advise, which cost us even more in the long run, the best they said they could do is reduce the bill to $250 but if we didn't pay it they would report us to a collection company thus ruining our credit - pure bl__kma_l in our book (you fill in the blanks) so we paid the $250, however, we will never use this company or any of its franchises again. Complete rip-off!!!
