Rotorooter is a rip off..... Do not hire roto rooter.... I hired them to clean up/ unclog the main sewer line....they did not tell me what kind of clog/ problem the pipe had. They wanted to sell me another srrvice for $1200 so they could tell me what kind of problem the sewer line had... Not to fix it ..just tell me what the problem was. The water did start to flow and it stopped running 5 days after....i called ant told them that the sewer line was backed up again... And the lady was telling it was going to be $1200 to go back out to my house and clean it again... So be aware that in the first visit they do not clean/unclog your pipe...they just make the water flow enough so they can charge...roto rooter never again

I called this company at 11p on a Saturday night due to an emergency leak in the home. I was told a plumber would be at my home within 2 hours . I sat around and waited until 2am no one ever showed up or called. I called to follow up and was told that they made a mistake in the system and that a tech would actually now be to at my home between 8a-9a. I at this point had stopped makes calls since I was guaranteed a tech would be out and knew I wouldn't find anyone this late since I wasted time waiting on roto. I again waited early morning 9:30a came around still no tech no call! I followed up again and was told they don't have a tech we're working on finding someone they'd call me back shortly! I gave up and called another company who responded and was at my home in one hour! Roto had the nerve to finally call me at 2:30p and say we can have someone to your home in 2 hrs! At this point we were 12 hrs into them originally telling me someone would be there! Avoid this company especially if you have an emergency!

Very bad experience with this company. Bad customer service, bad dispatch, bad scheduler. Our appointment scheduled from 10-2pm. However technician didn't show up after 2pm. When I called customer service, they told me it has been delayed and they didn't know when plumber can come... and asked me if I want cancel the service.... Lol! They finally called me at 5pm said do I still need service? Can you believe it???

Our water heater burst on the afternoon of Thursday, May 27, 2021, and we called Roto-Rooter to come out to replace it as we had used them in the past. A service technician showed up within 90 minutes and within another 30 minutes agreed that it did need to be replaced. He stated that he could go to Home Depot and pick one up and have it replaced within a couple of hours, quoting us $2,000 to $2,500 for parts, labor, and taxes.

After he replaced the water heater, which he did do a great job of, he told me the total was a bit higher and would be $2736.23. The work had already been completed and I was told it would be an additional $236.23 over the price range originally quoted which I felt was unprofessional but I didn't argue. I instead asked if I could see the Home Depot receipt for the water heater and any parts he needed to purchase. The technician became visibly nervous but agreed. Before showing me the receipt he told me that the company recently adopted a new pricing policy to double the cost of the parts or increase them by 100%. Whereas it had been much lower previously. The Home Depot receipt was for $759.27 and Roto-Rooter marked it up and charged me, $1,518.54. Again, a 100% increase which is egregious by the standards of most companies. Additionally, I was charged $1,100 for labor for just under 3 hours of work, or approximately $366.66 an hour. Again, on the very high side.

The technician was very apologetic and admitted that the costs were on the high side. I told him it wasn't his fault and that I would call the company the following day to discuss. I have since tried calling the company three times over nearly two weeks. Each time getting a voicemail and leaving a message and have not received a call back on any of the occasions.

Had to engage Roto rooter for my home in LaVerne to clear up an obstruction. They Arrived and had the job completed in three minutes or so. Very clean and very professional and respectful staff. However pricing was outrageous. $259.00.
I understand overhead, such as salaries,, trucks, facilities , liability and Workers comp ins, etc. Etc. But there is no value in using this service for the price charged.
there are many others, I now note, that perform the service and charge far less than Roto Rooter.

These guys are trained to get peoples money. 1st time the guy spent 10m to unclog drain $400., and told a lie. Less then 4 months later same problem and they wanted to charge me again even though I had a 6 month guarantee. 2 months later same problem. Same guy came out, claimed he didn't remember me, 2 other guys came with him. At least 4 lies were obviously told between all of them. I paid $400 again with the ""discount"". I trusted them bc they've been around awhile but after all this, I believe they don't actually fix the problem completely so you can all them back again. I'm done working with them. They like to rip people off.

They snaked a toilet and a drain clean out and charged me over $900. This included a $50 charge to cut a cap that I had to replace and they didn't even honor an advertised Discount on their webpage. I should have researched a bit more but we were in a panic and they took advantage of that. They also tried to get us to add a cleanout which is a good idea, but they wanted to charge $$3200 google says average cost should be $600-$700.

1. Hard to schedule appointment with dispatcher
2. Appointment scheduled 1:00 - 4:00 pm driver did not arrive until after 4:30pm claim he had the wrong address.
3. Driver was mad & frustrated when he arrived.
4. Provided an estimate for $469 to clear plugged kitchen sink.
5. When I expressed I felt the his estimate was too high. He questioned what I could afford. Keep in mind my house is valued near $1million.
6. Money was not the issue while paying out raging fees is and it was clear he did not want to do the work. He was very rude and stormed out.

I eventually called another plumber at 8:00 am and the plumber arrived at 9:00 am finished clearing the drain by 9:45am. Cost was $120.

This is to get the word out to people who may encounter an accident with a Roto Rooter work truck. Be aware that it will take FOREVER to hear back from their insurance (I am still waiting), and they don't even provide the correct information on their insurance cards so they're practically impossible to contact.
I got rear ended last month and still have made no progress in my claim, their company has shown me how irresponsible they are and that I will never be using their services. My cracked bumper is still waiting to be fixed........
