They deserve zero stars. Perhaps technicians are personable and skilled but one will never know because the dispatchers can't get them out. Called for a quote only at 3pm and was told someone would be out in about an hour. Nobody showed. Called back at 5:30 and told there was an error but could get someone out in about an hour. Called back at 8 and was told they were running behind. . I scheduled an appt. for next day between 4-6 pm. I called at 5 just to confirm and they said someone moved the appt. to the following day ""accidentally"". I asked for a supervisor to call with a solution...still waiting of course. Obviously no business sense here or concern for customer. Must be nice to not need the business

I wish I could give them zero stars. I made an appointment for them to come between the hours of 7:00 and 9:00 and they call me at 8:59 to tell me that nobody's coming. Okay so I said well let's reschedule for first thing in the morning she says I can have a technician there between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. I said that's great. Here it is 11:46 no call no show nothing. This company is absolutely unprofessional and cannot live up to the standards of being a 24-hour plumbing service. They fucking suck

Our kitchen sink got clogged. We called Roto-Rooter and we ask how
much it was going to cost. The guy on the phone said, when we get there we will give you the price & we have the option to refuse service if we don't like the price.

The Roto-rooter guy comes, I showed him the back opening of our kitchen drain. I asked him how much will it cost. He told me $405.00, I almost drop to the ground. I told him that I can't afford him & I don't want the service. Then he lower down the fee to $200. I still told him I can't afford him. He said, ""what do you expect the price is going to be?"" I answered him between $100 to $150. He said he'll do it for $150, just because he is there already.

He did the job. He did a good job. Sink drain is working but when I was paying. He told that he doesn't guarantee his work because I paid a discount price of $150. If I knew he was going to do that, I could have called someone else.

Warning: Watch for this kind of service. Ask before they start the job & if guarantee if included. I will never call Ro-rooter again.

Had a backup in the bathtub of a 4 plex on Sunday so I called the plumbing service we usually use ($15 Sewer and Drain) but they were booked up for the rest of the day. I called Roto-Rooter who said they could come out. I asked what they charge and the lady said they couldn't tell me but when the guy arrived he would provide a quote. Plumber arrives about 4pm and says they have a standard charge of $494. Highway robbery !!! Now I know why they don't quote over the phone.
Told the guy to get lost and had $15 Sewer and Drain come out first thing Monday morning at a cost of $115. Guy was super nice and cleared the blockage in 20 minutes.

Don't call Roto-Rooter unless you want to get taken to the cleaners on $ !

Our toilet began gurgling then water start coming up from all drains - it was not something we needed today but.....the young lady on the phone was sympathetic and nice and had service to me within the hour. That said, of course it is a sewer lateral issue and $$$.

Tylor came to our aid and he was everything you want to see in serviceman! He quickly identified that it was a remove the toilet to access or through the roof (literally and figuratively). He called in is supervisor who was super! and he concurred - both issues minimum a good deal more than I wanted to spend today.

That said, I remembered I had been buying insurance through CalWater for this very issue and I am following up that now and when it is authorized - I will have Tylor again!

Worst business of all time. We waited and wasted two days of our time for what..no one to show up?! Saturday, they were supposed to come and fix our plumbing between 12 and 4. I called them around 3 pm. They said they dont have anyone right now to come and fix our plumbing. I call back at 4 to check in. They dont have anyone. I asked to reschedule bc I wasted my whole day waiting around for them.

They rescheduled us the next day (tod ay) and said they put us on the priority list. But they gave us a 10-2 window. I call at 11 am to check the status. No one available even when they said we were priority. I call back at 1215pm to check. They said they will call me In 30 min No one called me back. I call back at 1pm. They said there was a delay but will have them call me in 15 mins with someone to come by. No one calls. I call at 2 pm. Still no one! They offered me a 75 dollar discount. I asked them how am I supposed to know what the problem is and the actual amish t is of the entire service? . I told them unless they offer me free services and not charge me for anything I dont want them anymore. they said they cant do that. I told them well that's too bad. You lost a customer. You cant keep people waiting for 2 days or more! We would up finding someone else who charges way less and got here within the hour.. go private contracts. Screw commercial businesses such as roto rooter. They dont care

Last week we had a sick up in our sewer line. I wish I knew a trusted plumber but I don't so I turn to Roto Rooter when this line clogs, every year and a half or so, due to roots growing into the line. We have an offset in the pipe that as soon as we have a bit of leeway w finances, we need to repair. In the mesntine, we need the issue snaked when it clogs, every year and a half or so. I have had great Roto Rooter techs and hoped to have a good experience again but the clog was one foot from the clean out and I was charged $400. PG&E shut off power on my street so Roto Rooter was only working for twenty minutes, definitely not the full hour. Teeny minutes, clog right there. $400. THEN, 40 minutes later another Roto Rooter truck pulled up. Another tech telling me the first tech had called him bc we needed pricing for a new clean out. While he was at it, he noticed our main line had corrosion that needed to be scraped. Did I want an estimate for that work? I got a text an hour later: $15,000. I texted back and asked if he had accidentally added an extra zero. No, that was the price. $15,000. $15,000????? I had told both techs money was tight. The whole day with Roto Rooter felt like a day of being scammed. Anyone have a recommendation for a trustworthy plumber?

They misdiagnosed our drain problem, and were quite happy to quote us $6500 to dig. After we called Mr Rooter for a second opinion Roto Rooter charged us $1000 for their half hour if time.

Roto-Rooter came out to access a leaky toilet. It was suggest to replace it. Installer said he would purchase a mid range toilet, never explained their ""flat fee"" schedule for labor. He returned the next day with toilet and charged a flat fee of $689 to install the one toilet. My bill was just under $1000 including the cost of the toilet. Shame me once, never again Roto-Rooter ! Shameful business practice.

Fixed the problem but took two days; very expensive. Said they needed metal parts to match what I had and had to order them. Came back the next day with PVC parts and one of those rubber gaskets to connect to my metal parts. Did not discount the original quote for metal parts.
