Way overpriced. I was shocked to be charged $500 in labor for resolving a kitchen sink clog and a small water leak problem and an additional $40 for parts (pipe replacement). The technician finished the job in just an hour. However, upon inspection by my husband, he discovered another area that is leaking water under the sink, which the technician said would require an extra $250 for labor plus parts. Their pricing practices are predatory. Avoid at all costs.
I will not use Roto-Rooter again.
Roto-Rooter did deal with the immediate situation. However, their proposal for a long-term fix was hugely expensive and invasive and would have left me still having to replace flooring when they were done. (Thankfully I got another quote and the problem was fixed by another company, without tearing up the floors, in half the time and for half the price tag compared to Roto-Rooter's proposal).
Customer service-wise, Roto-Rooter left a lot to be desired (though the guys who actually did the work were perfectly pleasant). They did not keep me in the loop, take the time to explain the problem to me, inform me of options, nor appear to be communicating with each other, and I felt frankly pressured to sign off on an almost 30K project immediately. I'm so glad I had the presence of mind to hold off and get another quote.
Disgusting. David, the tech who showed up charged me $1200 for changing the copper tubing in my main water line. The old copper tubing had broken while installing a water softener. He took advantage of the situation that we didn't have water in the house and it was evening time.
These guys seemed to be trained on how to take advantage of people and situations to make money. Stay far away from these crooks. I will never ever deal with these vultures again.
$140's job, they asked $750,what ......, I had a job to install a standard toilet, I made a schedule with them, they sent a guy to my house and estimated it as $750, later I hired a handyman only for $140.
I feel that this company is way overpriced.
My 80 year old dad had a clogged sewer line and my brother set up a service call for roto rooter to come out. They used a snake and cleared it within 2 hrs.
Prior to their visit the toilet was removed to make it easier for them but they still charged the $800 and after trying to get my dad to change the supply valve for $450 which he didn't, they still added $150 to install the toilet and a 12"" line.
I understand that some services will require more work and can get expensive but a 2hr sewer unclogging shouldn't be so expensive.
After speaking with the branch manager it became apparent that they have a method to price their services as to what is gonna make them the most profit.
""$950 later I think we have learned our lesson ""
There are other companies that are cheaper,
Shop around and get the best price for you're sewer problem.
After complaining that I was charged $180 for only looking at my tub they agreed to refund my check. Thank you very much for understanding.
Joe K.WAY OVERPRICED and they completely misdiagnosed my problem. I paid over $400 for a toilet fix that didn't solve my issue. Now I have to call another plumber to replace my toilet. I WAS TOTALLY PLAYED BY THIS COMPANY! If I could give them negative stars, I would! Do yourself a favor and call a local plumber instead!
Stay away from Roto Rooter! Recently I had a sewer line clog from tree roots and am very sorry I called them, a waste of $356. The technician said he wasn't able to unclog the line and I was given 2 expensive options, $2,000 for hydro jet or $2,800 for root rat. I found someone local, licensed and honest, he cleared it for $190. Also told me he knows a guy that no longer works for Roto Rooter. The former employee said they earn a commission to sell services.
Well they got me too. $3500 for a water heater install. I really think they price gouge customers in desperate situations. The water heater cost $800 ( i checked online) . okay but that meant over $2700 labor for about 1.5 hours of work. I knew when he was explaining how ""whoever installed it messed it up"" and he had to redo SO MUCH , that the price would be high. Anyway we he finished, he explain how he couldn't shut off the water and i should have them fix the shut off value outside for $1000. Really? But when he showed me what was wrong, it was NOT the shut off value to the house but a simple outside faucet. Plus my invoice had no itemize price breakdown, just $3500. As a hardcore DIYer, I knew he was waaaaay over charging and probably thought i was just gullible. My fault moving forward and paying but water was leaking everywhere. And since over-charging is what Roto Rooter seems to be okay with, I just wont use them again. Just want to let them know, I wasn't dumb, just desperate.
Not at all recommended for any service offered by them especially when you have urgent mitigations to be done at home.
