ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE, do not use their services.
Couldn't even get a tech out, and waited all day for nothing
what a waist of time.
I put my information in, they contacted my sister because she also tried to schedule an appointment.
it was a huge mess
Confirmed a time slot between 1pm-3pm online, their site changed it to 1-5pm
horrible communication
said they were running late but didnt say how long they would be
who knows if they ever planned on showing up
they were supposed to contact me 30min before arriving,
no contact
never arrived
6pm rolls around and i had to go through 2 people to cancel it
like don't transfer me to a dispatch, just cancel it
insanely frustrated, wouldn't spend a penny with them or recommend to anyone

I had a plumbing crisis on a Friday- due to cold weather, my water service line broke in the yard and water was coming up. I made several calls and Roto-Rooter was both able to take the job and get to me the earliest, which was the following Monday. However, they were a no-show. I called them that afternoon and apparently they'd set it for Tuesday, actually (Definitely said Monday on the phone, hard to mistake that). Annoying, but they're still the only ones available, so sure.

So on Tuesday, no communication. I call up and they're waiting on the camera tech to finish up a job, then they'll be over. That never happens. Call again and get told the camera people only work during the day so tonight's out too, but since it was a frozen pipe issue I shouldn't need the camera anyway, so they'll get dispatch to send out a plumber in the morning.

Then today, no plumber and no communication again. I call again and we're back to the camera tech excuse, even though we're not supposed to need one. But he swears up and down he'll be there within an hour. So I go ahead and wait, because anyone coming over at this point at all would be progress. Get nothing again, call back only to find out the cameras are done for the day and apparently I wasn't even on their board to do today.

I've had fine experiences with them in the past but this experience has soured me on them completely. This was not just one person either, as I seemed to get a new person on every call. Avoid at all costs.

I live in a condo with a neighbor above me that loves using the disposal all day. Had their disposal back up in my unit every time they used it.
Called Roto rooter license #806952 and they snaked out my kitchen sink and pipes. They was a outlet for both units that this plumber said that he couldn't get the cap off of the valve cause it was really old and it didn't matter to snake out this valve cause it didn't make a difference. It sure as hell did and for this and for this, I was charge $472.00
Their phone number for reference for everybody not to ever use is 800 438-7686. They were quick to show up but the quality of work was non-extinct.

Just sharing my honest experience -

Called them for a toilet repair for a leaking toilet. Phone dispatcher was prompt, picked up quickly, arranged a 4 hr time block to wait for the plumber the following day.

No-show with no response on that day. I called them after the time window, they barely apologized and said they'd send someone out for the next day for the same 4hr time window. Luckily I was off that day and could wait.

Once again, no-show. This time at least, 30 minutes before the end of the time block, they called me saying they had no plumber available.

I asked them if they could give me a 2hr time window the next day as a priority customer - they said they were unable to give me anything short of a 4 hr time window.

So I ended up not using them. Cannot recommend.

A company that is well known for plumbing such as Roto-Rooter doesn't always mean they provide and stand to ""good customer service"". I was so frustrated the last few days that I had to wait to write this review. I am utterly disappointed, irritated and I HATED THE SERVICE ALTOGETHER.
1. Tuesday was the appointment 10-2 am. Dispatcher call twice before 2 to reassure the time committed. Passed 2pm no one came just ""yet"". I was open minded that it's rainy season. 3x after the time slot dispatcher called he (Albert) technician will be at your house 30-40 minutes. Already came 8pm beyond the time frame given. Dispatcher said, Technician vehicle broken down ?.
2. Wednesday came and another try came 10-2. NO ONE CAME TIME SLOT COMMITTED! Again the Technician on the way! Spoke to maybe 3 customer srvs. I had to call out from work because by 5 PM, a technician came to my house yet quoted me high price of $479!! So outrageously in sane!! What's worst was he looked tired, didn't seem like he wanted to try ""last job of the night"" attitude. I was pissed that Rooter came beyond time promised!
Hence. The tech came to my house didn't even get to fix the clogged bathtub!! He struggled with his own machine he brought in and the fact his equipment didn't WORK! Ridiculous. Out of courtesy, I still asked him to be the same tech to come back next day. He offered to do the service between 8-10. (In my head impossible to get your equipment fix in the morning and make it to house) but gave him the benefit of the doubt.
3. Thursday came new customer srvs rep called. (Apologies after apologies ugh) Technician is in route to your house in 10-15 minutes. This was before 10am. Rushed home informed dispatcher someone will be home and I will be home in 10 minutes! Drove up to my street NO Roto-Rooter van inside! I was already angry, annoyed at this point. Called Rooter and where the Technician. Lady rep said, ""he's GPS Is in route to Milpitas but we can't get a hold of him. His MIA. We don't know where he's at"" I hung up pissed off off I was told another Technician will be route to my house. I went back to Yelp and searched for another plumbing company and found the best company TTL Plumbing. They offered a time slot on a Friday 10-2 and offered me if it's possible a technician will try to accommodate me Thursday. I took in their offer!
4. Rooter technician came to my house BUT I REFUSED THE SERVICE AT THAT POINT. ""I called to cancel not my fault your dispatcher didn't contact you on time!"" See yeah!

I HATED THE WHOLE SERVICE ALTOGETHER. Folks don't settle just because Roto-Rooter is a big name! No one should go through a bad experience with a plumbing company. THERE ARE OTHER CHOICES OUT THERE. It's okay to inquire look for free estimates. I highly recommend TTL PLUMBING. Only charged me $165, honest worker and got the job done in at least 20 minutes. Quality work, spoke to ONLY 1 customer srvs rep.

I hate Rooter. I'm glad that I was told to find another plumbing company. That on the day of my appointment when they didn't commit to the time given. I should of cancelled. Lesson learned.

Originally scheduled them on the 27th of December to clear a sewerage line in my home. It was submitted and received a time of between 10 am to 2pm. Received confirmation via email. At 4pm that day no one appeared or call.. i frustratingly called them to reschedule for the next day. We then got another date for am to 12pm. Again t approximately 4pm called the national line and was told a supervisor would call to schedule a time for them to send out the scoper, it is now 7pm....(NO CALL). THIS COMPANY IS A JOKE. Yet, a representative came by on the 27th@ 10m to look at the job and try and sell me other products, told me he was from another part of roto rooter, yet no service. They suck. I will post this on all social media sites.

Called and impressed with service and timing. However, once the plumber, Brian, got here and assessed the issue which required a simple snake drain in kitchen, cost was $405.00. Seemed crazy expensive but I was desperate. He comes back with paperwork, which has no price, but needs me to sign to authorize the work. He said company does not allow him to input the price until after the work is done. Again, crazy. I told him as a consumer, that makes no sense. Why would I sign something before knowing how much it would cost. He said he would fill the info in after the work is done because it could be more complex than just snaking the drain. I asked if he could write down the $405 and if it's more, I'd be happy to pay. He said he couldn't do that but did offer a 6 month guarantee for the work. I said thanks but no thanks and will find an ethical company who plays by the rules. I shared my story with a neighbor. She had the same issue and used Roto. Cost was $75.00 on a Sunday. Boy, talk about taking advantage. Shame on you Roto Rooter.

My elderly mother is partially blind and disabled. On November 1, 2021 her washing machine broke leaking water in her home. In desperation she called rotor rooter. Roto rooter came out, stopped the leak, and put dryers in and left. They returned a few days later to remove the dryers. The technician quoted my mother a cost of about $3000.00. My mother signed a contract but could not see what she was signing. After Roto rooter Reno rd the dryers they sent a bill to my mother for $9000.00. The contract she signed stated Roto rooter would remove walls, roofing, insulation, baseboard, tile etc. Roto rooter didn't do any of those things. Roto rooter is price gauging and took advantage of an elderly disabled woman. Roto rooter technicians were in the home no more than 3 hours total. First my mother did not have capacity to enter into a contract as she couldn't see what she was signing. 2 Roto rooters technicians told her the cost would be about $3000.00. 3 Roto rooter did not do the work in the contract.

Roto rooter is the lowest of the low to prey on the elderly.

Sunnyvale, CA. Called and scheduled for someone to come over the next day between 12pm and 4pm. No one shows up, texts, or calls. I have to call at 3:30 to see what's going on. Dispatch says that they are really booked but someone will be there 8am/first thing in the morning.

Wake up early and stay at home again. Call them at 8:10AM. Find out I am booked for someone to show up between 8am and 12pm.

It's 9:30AM right now and they have no idea when a plumber will show up but they say it won't even be within the hour.

If I could give 0 or negative stars I would. Absolutely terrible service. Making people miss work and lose out on money because of incompetence.

This review was only for an estimate i received today on my water heater in the Orlando, FL area. I received an ""estimate"" from Pedro at 3pm, Monday Dec. 6th, 2021. It was a terrible estimate. I had presented the issue, that I wanted a tank water heater replaced with a tankless, electric 27KW water heater. The Tank water heater was on it's last leg and needed to be replaced after 11 years of service.

In a professional manner, Pedro insinuated that I was brainless human being that knew nothing about water heaters, and he happened to show up to save the day (this was his demeanor). He was an extremely condescending technician with a bad attitude. ""Who the heck put the idea in your head to get a tankless, electric water heater?"" ""Do you realize that you are going to be paying about $4,500 just in installation alone to get the right equipment and plumbing in your walls to support a tankless electric water heater, and then you will not be satisfied anyway."" (I knew both of these things were false, as i have relatives in Minnesota running a 27KW tankless electric water heater in a large home. Albeit, they get much less use out of it than i would in Florida). My uncle also owns an AC/Plumbing company, and he is the person that actually recommended the model of Tankless water heater.

I proceeded to let him finish, as he recommended a very expensive model of a hybrid water heater. I was very much done, and just let him finish before i waived him off. There were other indecencies stated by Pedro, but I will not go there, this review is long enough.  If these are the type of employees that are working at Roto-Rooter, i would not be going with this company. I did not have a service done, and i cannot comment on it. However with the knowledge that i knew, receiving an estimate as horrid as the one above, would you be getting your service performed through Roto-Rooter? Think twice on this one.
