Last Saturday I was out of town, my toilet overflowed and the house sitter called this company. A tech came out in a Roto Rooter truck and did what seems to be a good job of cleaning up the water and cleaning out the drain. Here is where things get sketchy. He would not give her a receipt and had her make the check out to him personally. I called the office yesterday to request a copy of the bill. None could be found and I was told I would get a call from the manager which has not happened.

I had a clogged toilet line. We removed the toilet and tried snaking it to no avail so I called Roto-Rooter at 5:45 because of 24/7 adv. The technician called back and said he already had 2 jobs in front of mine and he quits work at 8 pm so ended up coming the following day (today) When he arrived he quoted $489 to snake it. After I approved it, he but a camera through the line and said that the first 30 feet are cast iron and it has scaling that catches toilet paper and clogs. Beyond that is clear PVC. Therefore he said that """"just snaking won't work"""" Instead he could send in a power brush to clear the line for $8400 or use a water jet line for $3200. ( It so happens that my friend in Michigan had a simiar problem this past August with a 60 foot cast iron pipe in a Michigan house built in 1889 and had it water jet cleaned for $1500 then we watched the camera go through the newly cleared pipe. I know because I paid the bill). So instead, we told the technician to just snake it anyways. Reluctantly, he did and was paid. The line is now clear and works fine. The technician was rude, not cusotmer focused didn't want to do what actually did work for the time being. We are going to see how long this fix lasts. If we do have to water jet it in the future, I will get other quotes as Roto-Rooter's pricing seems to be out of line

We have had years of experience with drain clearing companies, many times with Roto-Rooter. Needed a back up cleared and were told that they would be there within the hour....that happened and the drain was cleared. That is where our positive experience ended. We were not told that their """"flat fee"""" for any work would be nearly $350 (technician unloaded that on us when he arrived). We had recently used another service to do far more work and he charged us $175 for totally clearing a lateral and checking everything with a camera (that would have been extra). Called the manager to register our dissatisfaction with the price for the minor service they performed. Totally unresponsive to our concerns. If you need drain service, do your homework ahead of time and have the name of a plumber who will do this - NEVER get caught by this company - their prices are out of line and they take advantage of people in a bad situation. BEWARE! We will never use them again

To be clear the technician I had was very nice & professional, it just so happens the work was not to my satisfaction and hired another company to fix it. Bart was very professional and down to earth about the situation and we came to an understanding very professionally! We are all humans and have our moments, no matter what profession we are in. Sorry, i dis call roto-rooter and they came in the truck look exactly like roto-rooter truck. Now that I look at the invoice , the call themselves mr. Rooter plumbing of Tampa Bay. The invoice number is 11041. You should investigate this? And thank you for straight that out for me. So every body should be aware of this. For a responding to my post, I gave you four stars.
