I will not be using Roto-Rooter again. I had the service tech come out to my work for an estimate and to get an appointment for work. This was what I thought was done but no one showed up the next week as I had planned , texted the number that had contacted me for service and was told that I did not have an appointment. I had called and requested that they bring another piece of equipment for another problem I was having and they did not when they showed up. They performed the work on the first problem but was unable to test because the machine was down that use that drain line .Asked if they had a camera to check to see if the work was successful but was told that they didn't carry one . I had used another service in the past and that company came in completely prepared The last thing is when the service tech had given me a price before he left was one thing ,when I called to finally get service was told another price and when I received the invoice it was another price (not counting the tax).

A perfect example of a business that feels they are too big to fail and therefore the people are rude. My husband had surgery on Wednesday, and that happened to be the day they called me back to make an appointment to fix an issue. The woman I talked to gave me a timeframe. I told her I couldn't write anything down. She said """"Oh, don't worry, call us back friday and we can tell you."""" So I called back this morning and got the most unhelpful, obstinate, rude individual who couldn't simply give me an estimate. """"We don't do that. There's no way we did anything like that. We just put names down on a list and then give them to the technicians."""" Then, they didn't have my name in the computer and had to look us up by address. When she found it, she said """"Oh, I see that it's scheduled for after noon, but there's nothing further I can tell you."""" No apology, no indication that she even cared about making a mistake or making my life, that is pretty stressful right now, even more so. We cancelled the appointment. There's plenty more plumbers out there that WILL give an estimated timeframe.

On 2/21/20 I had Roto Rooter replace my sewer line due to clay pipes with root damage. The first thing they did was cut the gas line to my house and my neighbor's house when digging. I do not care if it was their fault or the company's fault that marked the lines. The problem I had was that no one from Roto Rooter notified us that this happened. The only way we found out was from our neighbor. Gas was leaking in my house with animals inside and no one bothered to tell us at Roto Rooter. So there was a two hour delay for that. Roto Rooter proceeded to dig until near dark and THEN notify me that there was an issue with a 6"""" main line they encountered. They dug for hours after seeing the line that would """"be an issue"""". A """"patch"""" was done for my sewer line. I now had an approx 30 foot by 4 foot deep trench in my yard. The """"patch"""" job was horrible and resulted in sewage from my house going into the hole...being exposed. This hole remained open for over a week after several times that Roto Rooter could not get someone out. Roto Rooter ultimately told me they had to notify the County, etc to identify whose """"main line"""" this was. Over the course of them """"trying to identify whose line it was"""" they ran a camera in an attempt to locate where the line went. They could not fully locate it but offered to jet and camera the line further for an additional $680. I declined. They slowly proceeded to try to identify the line for over a week until I took over the process. Within a few days I had it resolved with help from ReWa and Wade Hampton Sewer. Roto Rooter had also been in contact with ReWa and Wade Hampton, but apparently getting anything accomplished wasn't a priority. I then told Roto Rooter to not come back out to my house. The work was completed by someone else. The 6"""" line is not a main. It was my line. On March 6th I told Joe at Roto Rooter to send me a bill for work done. It then took Roto Rooter 7 weeks to get me an updated bill...almost 2 months. The original bill was supposed to be $2833.05. The updated bill was for $1513.32. When I asked for clarification on my bill it took them another week to get back to me AFTER I sent a very long email detailing the whole nightmare of dealing with them. When I was contacted it was apparent that they did not read my email or the invoice they sent me for $1523.32. Joe said the talked to the owner and they would knock off the camera charge and it came to $1530ish (I can't recall the exact amount but it was right over the bill amount). Apparently they meant to send me a bill that was even higher than $1513.32. I immediately told him """"I didn't call to have the price raised, so how about we just settle up with $1513.32 and be done"""". They agreed. I wanted to be done with it. I understand that situations arose that were not expected BUT communication was horrible on their part. I had to contact DHEC to inquire if the way they left my house was an environmental hazard. (Hint: It was.) Over the course of the week that Roto Rooter """"couldn't get anyone out"""" I had several neighbors stop and inquire about the open hole with apparent sewage that was visible. The only reason I decided to pay without taking it any further was because two guys did dig up my yard for me. So I paid Roto Rooter to dig up my yard, put in a horrible patch job, and run a camera. I will never hire them again. Joe was my project manager. I never spoke directly to an owner as I requested in my email. I have no idea how they have stayed in business this long in the Greenville area with such horrible communication with customers. I have noticed that the negative reviews online all have a common factor: poor communication with customers and certain personnel mentioned in each one. I have attached two photos. One if the """"patch"""" that was put into place by Roto Rooter that resulted in my inquiring to DHEC anonymously about the safety of this situation. I was assured it was not safe. It is not safe because it does NOT patch the sewer line as you can see in the other photo. The arrow shows where the """"patch is located"""". The circle is the existing clay sewer line that was destroyed....and left open. As you can see it was not patched to anything, so that """"fix"""" had my sewage running into this open hole in my yard. Just sharing my experience that I paid for so that others are informed.

Bill arrived within 30 minutes of my calling. Once I described the problem, he knew exactly what to do and he completed the job as quickly as he could. I had called 6 other plumbers and this company was the only one to answer or return a phone call. I will use them again.

We called because our septic needed pumping. I told the person on the phone. They sent a tech who couldn't pump the septic, didn't pull out a shovel, or look at anything but the clean out from above with his hands on his hips. It was a busy time so we had to wait two days for the septic to be pumped. The guy who actually did work was amazing. He dug up the septic, pumped it, and covered everything back speedily. We would have never known he was there except he asked us to check everything worked properly before he left. This guy is the reason I gave high marks. The tech was not only useless but aloof. If you work for a plumber you'll have to get your hands dirty. Hopefully he finds another better suited profession.

Horrible experience with Roto-Rooter & never even got any service done. Called on a Friday morning since my 80 yo mother who lives out of state in SC & had no water due to water shut off to house due to bad washing machine valve. The tech called at 9:30pm to say he could come over. She was asleep. I rescheduled for the next day. No one contacted. I called about 2:30pm & the local office told me that when I had called to reschedule & got the national # they rescheduled her for 3am for a tech that was not even working. They never saw her on the schedule. They sent someone over that afternoon but my mother was uncomfortable letting him in & decided not to use them. Then he called me & insisted I pay a $90 service charge even though they never set foot in the premises. I paid since I'm not there & didn't want to create a problem there, but will be contacting their corporate.

After having a HORRIBLE experience with a small business on the weekend. We called Roto-Rooter at 6:30pm on a Sunday night and they not only sent a text 20 minutes before coming but was there by 7:20pm. HIGHLY IMPRESSED with how fast. Stated they could get us taken care of the next morning. Thank you! (Also the text had a picture of the technician and his experience etc. that's nice!)

Not pleased with my experience. I called and gave all the details I could give over the phone. Asked if they could give me a ball park cost. They said the tech could tell me what needed to be done and the cost when he arrived. When he arrived, he didn't even look at anything or hardly want to hear anything I had to say about what was going on. He basically just walked up and said here are your 3 options, they cost $270, $500 or $520. I said which one do I need. He said I don't really know, you choose and we will see if that's what the problem is.... REALLY!? So if I choose wrong, then we will have to do another thing and if that doesn't work we will have needed I'll spending well over $1000. H said yeah it's kind of a catch 22. I expected them to arrive and use some expertise, perhaps diagnostic tools and TELL ME what needed to be done to fix the job. Oh, and the guy said it was going to cost like $270 for him to dig up the septic tank. I could save some money by digging it up myself... ok, I'll spend 10 mins to save $270. So he left, I called back 10 mins later to get back in the cue. Before he made it back out I had l ready reached out to a different company and had them come out. I'll never call Roto Rooter again.

Disappointed in my experience with Roto Rooter of Greenville. My husband and I just moved into our new house and he noticed a potential plumbing problem in our basement, so he called to make an appointment the next morning. We were told a technician would be at our house at around 3:00-3:30 that day. I took off work to be there during that time, and during my drive home I did receive a phone call at 2:45 that the technician was 30-45 minutes away from our house. Unfortunately the technician did not actually arrive until after 5:00. He was polite enough, and was able to diagnose the problem, but told me the total to repair that day would be $90 more since it was """"after hours""""... even though he was about two hours late. Now I have to take time off work again to be there for the problem to actually be fixed. There was no apology or attempt to make things right. Will be going with a different company for sure next time.
