His is a dishonest company that uses fraudulent business practices.
My A/C stopped working 2 months ago. I had a company come out and give me the option to not do a dye injection and pressure test and only recharge the AC. they said that if the AC won't work after a while, then we would know that it leaks. So it leaks since now it only flows out warm air. where does it leak? I decided to call Roth, expalined the situationa and requested the service for a dye injection and pressure test to detect the leaks in my AC. I emphasized this and said I needed to speak with an AC professional. I got a call back from someone named Megan. Megan stated she understood what I needed and would send a professional over to my house to provide a ""comprehensive"" diagnostic test. I asked her if by ""comprehensive"" that meant ""dye injection and pressure test"". She said ""Yes"" and assured me what the service would be and would cost $89. The technician came out to my house the next day. He then stated the AC leaks, and gave me big estimated cost for the dye and pressure leak test. What??? This is what I already quoted for and paid him for. Now they are demanding more money to do what I already paid him for? Of course there is a leak. As I had explained. This had been already comfirmed. I did not pay him to come out and waste my time. I paid him to find the leak locations.
I demanded a refund. Megan acted confused. She said did not know why the technician did not do the dye injection and pressure testing. She said she will talk to the guy and get back to me. It has now been over a week.
Do not use this company. They will quote you for a service and take your money. But, will not do the service. They will waste your time, take your money, and cause you to write a review similar to this one. This company needs to review its principle of practice to operate its bussiness with honesty and integrity. Stay away!
If ZEro star is an option, I would have absolutely used it
Frank W.Amazing approach these people have.
I had a leak below the guest bathroom and made an appointment. I had cut open the ceiling where the leak had dripped through and had a guess what it was. The guy they sent out is super courteous and respectful - and he confirmed it was simply the wax ring for the toilet. Feeling very relieved, I shut off the fill for the tank and flushed the toilet. This helped for 2 reasons - the tank was empty and we went downstairs and confirmed that the water was leaking at the ring, not in the plastic pipe. Fantastic, I think, let's fix it, since I'm more busy than usual right now. Sure, he says, let me write up the quote. The quote to replace an $8 wax ring was $559. Since he must have done this before, he must be able to do it faster than me, which is in about 45 minutes. But let's give them the benefit of the doubt - they want $500 an hour. Great work if you can get it, to be clear, $500/hour is over $1 Million a year. Seriously, $500 an hour for changing a toilet wax ring and I already emptied the tank. I happily paid the service call to get rid of them. Wow.
I was given a thorough explanation of everything to be done and they made sure I had all questions answered. Job site was left clean when they finished.
Up Sale of items not needed and told we had a Carbon Monoxide leak on our furnace by Brett A. He told us he would shut our furnace down now as the leak was to high for him to leave it. Brett said the gas company won't let him leave with the furnace carbon monoxide leak this high without shutting off furnace. He told us we needed to talk with Garth right now to get a new furnace cost of $aprx $8,500. He said the part was on warranty but service costs is 3/4 cost of new furnace. He looked at our air conditioner also and said it needed to be replaced as the motor is going out. That is another $7,000. Brett said while you are at it the hot water tank should be replaced since you are doing these other things. We purchased the furnace, a/c and hot water tank from them brand new in 2005. We have had service from them always. Each service they always want to up sale to something else. They installed a Remme UVA that was defective from day one. They said they would take $1,050 off the new furnace cost. The ac unit they couldn't get parts so it had to be new. We were scared on the furnace so we called another company to come check the carbon monoxide level on the furnace. They did a service call and not one drop of carbon monoxide. We thought this was really weird and didn't know who was right or wrong. We had NW Natural Gas come out and test the unit. NW Natural has more accurate testing equipment. They found not one thing wrong with the furnace on Carbon Monoxide. We also asked the second gas furnace company to tell us the cost of the same gas furnace as Roth was quoting us a cost on. Roth is several Thousands dollar higher for same unit. We also had the a/c unit checked to see if we need to replace it. We were told no and the part is only $500 for a new motor when it needs it. Nothing is needed on the a/c unit now like Roth said. The hot water tank is also fine for now. We could of spent over $8,500 for furnace not needed and $7,000 for new a/c unit that the repair would be only $500 when needed and a new hot water tank. Roth is trying to up sale items not needed and spend for items not needed at all. Call for a second estimate before you would hire Roth. Other companies are way cheaper. NW Natural Gas company doesn't lie on Carbon Monoxide testing like Roth stated was shutting us down in the winter. We are in the Portland area. Don't know why the review is showing San Francsico
Danny M.Used in a real estate transaction. Would have need a 4-5 but on our repair deadline day Roth's plumber said they couldn't do the job, switch off his phone and went home sick. We were able to get an extension from the buyers and get another plumber to do the repair but this could have messed up the deal and caused my sellers a lot of extra stress and had to pay another couple of plumbers to come out and give bids.
Randall D.In your day to day life you tend to become numb to the norms of our society. Many of the tools from the past that lead to a successful small business have been forgotten. To this point the delivery of customer service in the form of sincere and professional customer communication.
In a recent conversation seeking clarity on many things heating and air. I found Willie to be clear to the point and concise in our conversation. My questions were answered at a level that created an ease and confidence in a world that I only travel as needed.
Impressive on point, presentation in the representation of Roth Heating and Cooling during my interactions with Willie. The logo is simple yet strong, creating brand recognition that even I could remember. (That's how I found Roth on Yelp) Good move on the management team providing their team with a unified look.
A sincere thank you for sticking out as an example in how to garner a potential new customer, with a simple conversation.
Marta Frank D.Today Service Tech Joel J. came out to do my annual furnace check up. He was on time and very thorough. He found a problem and replaced the part and explained everything was covered on my Silver Club plan. Joel has been the best technician so far that has come out to work on my Furnace / AC units. 5 star service. Great Job Joel..... Excellent Customer Service..............
I called Roth heating when our furnace broke and they reassured me they would come out same day as it is winter and we have small kids. After taking my credit card for the visit charge (which is not applied to cost of repair I was told)., four hours went by with no call from their technician. When I reached out to them, they unapologetically informed me that nobody would help today.
Very disappointing ...look elsewhere for your heating needs.
C B.$89 to come out and give an estimate for INSTALLING AN OUTLET? Are they joking? If it were a really extensive wiring job or if they were troubleshooting a serious problem, that would make sense, but $89 for an estimate for a straight forward installation of new outlet in a space that already has outlets nearby is completely ridiculous. I told them no thanks. I've got a dozen other electricians happy to come out and give an estimate for free.
I highly recommend using ANYONE but Roth. Maybe the little old lady across the street will be more efficient and reliable? I will NEVER use Roth again. They were a nightmare to work with as a company. The individual service technicians were fine, but the project managers were clueless, and the company as a whole has major problems with communication and integrity. Over the course of our project (we paid Roth $15,000-20,000 to reduct and install a second air conditioner, and furnace in our rebuilt house) we had two project managers. The second was Chris Fisher who was less than helpful, but I do feel the original manager left him with a mess to clean up. The company failed permits 9 times due to not completing the items listed on the permit inspection reports, 8 times. They do not communicate, I could guarantee when a technician or service provider would show up they would not know what they were supposed to be doing, or fixing. Their bidding process is atrocious. Nothing is itemized, which for them makes it very easy to come back and say, 'oh, sorry that wasn't part of the bid.' We heard this many times, including the servicing of the unit they said when they wrote the bid would need to be serviced. This unit ended up being a unit we will have to replace. It is not, as we were told by our original project manager, going to be 'fine'. It is on its last leg according to their service technician who came out later to clean it. All this to say (and oh, so much more) DO NOT USE ROTH FOR ANYTHING!!! I will never use them again, nor will my contractors who spent numerous hours getting Roth to fix their mistakes, and labor fixing the mistakes made by Roth themselves when Roth couldn't seem to get it together. In our $250,000 renovation project, dealing with Roth, and finding out that even though the project is over we will still need to replace our furnace anyway (another $10,000) was by far the worst part of the whole thing. Nope, never again! I will be paying someone else to install the furnace we are stuck with.
