I wish I had checked here before calling them again! They did outstanding work for me a couple of years ago so of course I called them when I needed more done, but now I see the business has been sold. They did some work for me last week and I've realized they seem to have significantly overcharged me (almost $1100 for a $400-500 job.)
I'm still waiting for a supervisor to call me back about it.
I won't use them again.
Update: Sadly, but little to my surprise, I never received a call back.

I've trusted Jim's Pasadena Plumbing for over ten years. Without any hesitation, they were the first company I called when our natural gas earthquake valve needed to be replaced. The plumber who came out was professional, a hard worker and seemed like a very nice guy. It was a hot day, so I put out a fan, gave him ice water and a cold towel.
I noticed his hats in his truck had the name of another plumbing company. I was disappointed that Jim's seemed to be outsourcing their work, but felt that if Jim trusted this company, so would I. The $950 price made my stomach turn, but I've trusted Jim's Pasadena Plumbing for so many years that I assumed that's just how much these things cost. It seemed expensive and would stretch our budget, so my husband spoke to them by phone and was told the Little Firefighter valve costs $600.
After the simple was work was done in just two hours (including over an hour to go to 'the warehouse') to pick up the part, it just didn't feel right. So I googled the part and it is readily available for around $100. So after I felt lied to about the cost of the part, I came to Yelp to read if other people had a problem with their prices. As the other recent posters (all ONE stars) have stated, Jim has retired and sold his company.
$950 is a LOT of money to us as we are on a tight budget due to health issues. I am posting this review in hopes it helps someone else to avoid having to pay more than they should.
p.s. Thanks to other Yelp reviews, I called Ken's Pasadena Plumbing. Ken is a very nice guy that used to work for Jim's Pasadena Plumbing. I have saved his number for the future (626) 510-6334

Really sorry to hear that Jim's plumbing was sold and the problems all his old client's have had with the ""New Jim's Plumbing"". I was fortunate to be referred to Ken the plumber (by Meg S., see her old review). Ken is a former employee of the ""Original Jim's"" who started his business after Jim's was sold last year. Ken's Plumbing in Pasadena has the same quality, character, and honesty as the ""Original Jim's Plumbing""...excellent work, reliable, reasonable, and trustworthy (626) 510-6334.

Jim's is no longer Jim's!!! Apparently Jim, whose plumbing services we used for years, has retired and sold his business to a bunch of crooks called Ritz Plumbing. They still answered the Phone ""Jim's Pasadena Plumbing"" when we called today and never explained that it wasn't Jim's until I asked to speak to Jim.
We called what we thought was Jim's today to do 3 things: 1) look at a slow running shower drain, 2) adjust the pop-up drain assembly on a bathroom sink, 3) fix a leak in a hot water supply line to a pedestal sink.
Somehow, nothing we asked to have fixed was fixed, but they ""hydro flushed"" the main line (why???) and looked in it with a camera (again, why???). None of our three plumbing concerns had anything to do with the main line!!! They then proceeded to give us a bill for $550 and an estimate of $2,900 to replace four feet of the main line. What the hell happened? My husband refused to pay the $550 bill and asked to have the new owner call him tomorrow. They originally quoted us a $120 service fee, but NONE of the three things we asked to have done were done, so I don't think we should even pay that!
Bottom line: DO NOT USE THE NEW ""JIM'S PASADENA PLUMBING""!!!! They are swindlers. I'll contact the Better Business Bureau tomorrow.

Jim's stellar reputation has been destroyed. Beware of the company taking his business: Ritz. I learned during my call to this place just how wrong it has gone. A toilet replacement became much more expensive because an underlying something or another was corroded. I was stuck. Tenant needed a working toilet. Boy am I sorry. Then I discovered that instead of charging the $1,800 to my credit card as I requested, somehow my checking account had been debited. Not planning on a debit that large, I almost went went overdraft.

Somewhere along the months/years, Jim's Plumbing went from being an excellent, honest and profession plumber with reasonable rates. NO MORE. Keep looking. My real estate agent mentioned that Jim retired and moved North. That would explain a lot.

My four stars are for the OLD Jim's Pasadena Plumbing staff. After having a nightmare experience with the new owners - (Ritz, yuck!), I called Ken Hardback, a former Jim's employee, who has started Ken's Pasadena Plumbing at 626-510-6334. Ken is great and gets 5 stars from me. Don't be fooled by Ritz but call Jim's former employees like Ken. He is knowledgeable, fair, and honest. You can trust him, unlike the scam artists at Ritz.

this company is the worst they took advantage of my 80 year old mother, she called because her dishwasher was draining into the sink. They told her there was no cleanout and charged her 2200 to install one, of coarse there was already one there. beware of these people. I would write more but I am so mad at these people i cant think straight. KARMA will repay them

This is NO LONGER JIM'S PASADENA PLUMBING! BUYER BEWARE! They don't tell you this when you call, but these guys bought Jim's business and NONE OF HIS EMPLOYEES STILL WORK THERE. Their minimum service charge is $120 (I think Jim's was $95 or so) and they sent TWO TRUCKS to my house to repair a TOILET. They wanted $225 to repair the toilet, but said that the real problem was that my water pressure was putting undue stress on the toilet, and repairing that would be a much bigger deal indeed -- but they tried to talk me into that, too. Very shady.

Jim's Plumbing installed copper pipes in our house back in 2013 and we were very happy with the service & price. Sadly, Jim retired & sold the business but based on the recent reviews here, the new outfit isn't so good. Call Ken's Pasadena Plumbing instead. A former employee of Jim's, he claims to take care of customers like Jim would. We haven't used him yet but I plan to! (626) 510-6334
