We are making a formal complaint about the pricing used to ""gouge"" us on a recent repair/replacement at our home on Alps Way.
Understanding that he sub-contractor has a need to make a ""reasonable"" profit for additional services, but using the fact that we are ""captive"" in order to make up profits that they may feel ServiceMaster and AHS deny them is both unprofessional and illegal.
Below is a list of the prices that Plumbers Inc forced on us (established retail prices for the same and notes related to any conversation about flat rates) and held us hostage before replacing the water Heater that AHS authorized.
I will note that Flat rates are generally for a single replacement work order and by adding flat rate charges layered on top of products/services/labor that are ALREADY required as part of a water heater replacement constitute double billing.

ITEM CHARGES Retail Mark up NOTES
Band/Strap $65 $17 275% The safety strap was already in place and removal labor from current strap would be required as part of any hot water heater replacement.
Expansion Tank $185 $38 387%
Waterlines $165 $22 650% $22 for a pair of SS water lines, removal labor would be required as part of any hot water heater replacement.
Modification to pressure line $125 I have no idea what they believe is required, but all incoming domestic water has a primary pressure valve already in place. Currently this home was set at 55psi
Vent Line/tube $115 $22 423% Already existing for current water heater and complaint with code
Gas Lines $135 Why the need for new gas lines? The place of the water heater was not changed and all lines had sufficient whip to accommodate new products. Regardless disconnecting and reconnect the source of gas would be part of any water heater replacement

My experience with Plumbers, Inc. via AHS was very disappointing. Our appointment with Plumbers Inc. was due to our issues with the water line's regulator valve which I wanted replaced, thus the work request. After Plumbers Inc's assessment, the technician stated we needed to go through our insurance company first to get this resolved (is this required?). In addition, he would not change the toilet flapper nor tighten the shower faucet because it was not on the original work order. We were told to call in another work order -- which may mean another costly visit? (we weren't asked if there were other issues when I made my appointment).

Roland Munoz and his company is a crook. They did not file a permit, nor install my water heater correctly. It took me a year for them to show up. Had to get the CSLB involved. When Roland showed up, he admittedly said yeah, the guy who install this was into drugs and we had to let him go. This should never had happen. Vent Cap was missing, sediment trap miss, grounding wires were incorrect, no pan, etc. Roland repaired 3 out of the six issues and said it would pass inspection. It did not, I reported him to CSLB so they can contact him to make the corrections. Roland never responded to CSLB. I had to get another plumber to repair the things he didnt do. He is a crook, he should be in jail for his negligent work.

Rite-A-Way Services is aka doing business as Plumbers Inc. which is a vendor of American Home Shield. I have had so many issues with this company when they have been contracted to service a plumbing issue at my house. Their technicians are the rudest, most condescending and laziest group of plumbing specialists I have ever met. And they're sexist and discriminatory towards women by treating you like your an idiot. I just had Miguel at my home to fix a leaking shower, a broken drain and a kitchen sink. I had a leaking shower issue many years ago, and the problem is identical to the issue I had previously experienced. When the plumber, Miguel, arrived I tried to explain my issue and former experience with the shower. He followed me into the bathroom while I was talking, turned on the water saw that my shower head was leaking and said there is your problem. There is nothing for me to fix. At first, I thought it was a joke but quickly realized that it was not. I asked him if he was kidding. I said you haven't even checked the pipes. He then said are you trying to tell me how to do my job. I was floored by his response. I then started to re-explain my previous experience, and he cut me off said he wasn't going to be told how to do his job and that he was leaving. At that point, my tone was not pleasant I told him you have got to be kidding me. You walked in here, took a look and said that the problem is with the showerhead, and completely ignored everything else I have been telling you. I then turned on the water and closed the shower curtain to show him no water was leaking through. He then gave me some bizarre explanation of how water can flow out. I then pleaded with him to at least look take the handle plate off and see if he could feel water behind the handle. You would have thought I asked him to go mow my lawn. He made a big production about doing it. I didn't find anything and I replaced your leaking showerhead. I fixed the issue. At this point, I just wanted him to finish my other two issues and get him out. I know AHS has a 60-day guarantee and I figured I will call after he leaves. The next item on the list was a sink drain that needed to be replaced. That was another whole display of whoa as me. It took him less than 10 minutes and I had cleaned out the cabinet for him to get access. The last item was the kitchen faucet. I had a replacement faucet from a previous plumber's suggestion. Miguel rolled his eyes and said American Home Shield doesn't pay for that. I explained what the previous plumber told me. He said I don't know what the guy is talking about. He then asked what do you want me to do. At this point, I answer him in a snotty tone and said well obviously I would like you to try to fix it if you can't replace it. At that point, he threw up his hands and I said I am out of here. I will not be talked to in a rude tone. I said go ahead and leave because let's be honest, you didn't want to be here in the first place. I said you treat women like we're stupid and we don't know what we're talking about when in fact, you just don't want to get down and dirty to figure out the problem or fix anything. And Miguel walked out the door. I reported him to American Home Shield, told them I NEVER want Plumbers Inc. in my home again and requested another company to come and fix my kitchen faucet. Stay far away from this company and Rite-A-Way Services. I have had issues with Rite-A-Way too. If I had known that Plumbers Inc was Rite-A-Way in disguise, I would have never allowed them into my house.

Does not deserve a single star. Manny from Plumbers, Inc. came to our house to replace a water heater under American Home Warranty. He brought out one that was to tall first, next day one that did not fit without removing some wood from the water closet containing the water heater. Before i gave him approval to cut into the closet, he stated that the repair to the closet WOULD BE COVERED BY AHS. There was no doubt it would be repaired according to Manny. He also stated that ""we would take care of it if for some reason AHS did not."" When he left he said AHS would be in touch after he contacted them. Did not hear from anyone. Contacted Plumbers Inc. was told that Cheyanne was the manager, explained what was going on, was promised that Cheyanne would call me back. NEVER DID. Called AHS 5 times finally was told the repair was NOT covered and to deal with the contractor. They put in a complaint with their contractor relations. Made an appointment for Manny to come out on Monday 2/10/20 between 8 a.m. and noon. He showed up at 3:55 p.m. He acted like he did not know anything was wrong, again stated that he believed AHS would take care of it. This is after AHS had told him they would not. We talked about the problem and the repair needed. He said he would meet with the owner on Wednesday and get permission to repair the closet. Simple repair. I am a 100% disabled Vietnam Veteran, confined to a wheelchair. I cannot make the repair due to my disability. Manny knew that, we talked about it. The final thing he told me before leaving my house on Monday, 2/10/20 was that he promised to call me by Thursday to let me know what the owner said. HE PROMISED OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Needless to say, he nor anyone from Plumbers Inc have contacted me EVER. I am offended in the way my wife and I have been treated. I am offended there is a company out there who will take advantage of disabled Veteran without any problem at all. I am angry our kitchen is not repaired and back to working order. Most of all, there is a completely dishonest plumber out there, working for Plumbers, Inc.who will tell you a lie to your face and then write you off and NEVER make it right. I will pursue this issue until I reach a satisfactory outcome. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY OR AMERICAN HOME SHIELD!

Admittedly, I was extremely concerned about AHS' assignment of my warranty case to this plumber (Plumbers Inc), but I decided to take a chance despite mixed reviews. For me, this was a very pleasant experience from start to finish with great communication, on time arrival, and super fast repair work.

This company under the name ""Plumbers Inc"" is contracted out by American Home Shield (AHS), a home warranty service. Basically all the poor reviews for this company are probably correct, just scroll down and you'll see every bad review is tied with AHS which uses them to deny claims. They even lied about my service so AHS wouldn't have to replace a ""covered"" item which in my case was a garbage disposal. Why send a company out in Riverside, an hour away, to a service call in Long Beach? Makes you think....

Both companies in my opinion are completely dishonest so beware.

Dan from Plumbers, Inc. was a nice enough guy. However, niceness only gets you so far in life sometimes.
He was the contractor sent out by the notoriously horrid American Home Shield warranty plan.
Our problem was that our shower only got hot water and no cold. He came out the first time and said he was going to have to come back with the right part, which upon his diagnosis was a cartridge replacement.
He came back with the cartridge replacement a few days later, and was working on it for quite a while until he emerged and said that the cartridge wasn't the problem and that our plumbing in the walls is basically all jacked up and someone would have to break through the tile to fix it. He said there was a ""flow restriction problem"" in the pipes. He told us he would see if the home warranty covered the problem, and I told him they certainly would find a way to blame it on us and not cover... he said ""oh well I will at least check""
Naturally AHS denied the claim, as I suspected.
To our chagrin, when we went to take a shower the next day, (yes, at that point, we are able to shower as long as we are done before the hot water scalded our behinds) the handle to our shower that DAN had removed was now all loose and wonky and traveled after you set it to one side or the other.
My Husband and I decided we would try to properly educate ourselves and look on the Moen website for materials in which to do so. Right there before our eyes in the troubleshooting seciton dealing with our problem. The FIRST thing they suggest you check was the balancing valve. After some tool purchases and manual persuasion, my husband was able to loosed the screw necessary to check the valve. SURE ENOUGH.. THAT WAS THE ISSUE. The hugest plumbing laypeople in the world had managed to fix the issue that DAN said would require us to break apart our newly renovated bathroom to fix.
Lesson 1, always arm yourself with knowledge before having a contractor come to you house.
Lesson 2 NEVER EVER purchase American Home Shield Insurance
Lesson 3 Rite-A-Way Servies / Plumbers Inc. wouldn't even be my last choice for my future plumbing issues.
IT'S a scam... maybe they can fix simple issues such as a running toilet, but that's about it.. I wouldn't trust them with any repairs.

TAKE AWAY: THESE ARE AMATEUR PLUMBERS WHO I WOULD SUGGEST STAY FAR FROM YOUR PIPES

Now operating under Plumbers, Inc. Horrible, incompetent plumbers sent by my warranty company American Home Shield, another horrible company to work with. Did some faucet work and damaged their own part that they brought, and charging me to fix what they broke! Alan, the plumber who came, is by far, one of the most incompetent plumbers I've encountered! I've had to call other plumbers to fix what they broke and what they could not fix. This place needs to be shut down!! Different company name, same incompetence!
