Can think of only one word to describe my experience with Rite-Away - horrible, horrible, horrible.
Insurance company assigned company to do the job, and they could not get out for two days. OK, so they were busy, life happens. Insurance would not reassign it to someone else, but that is not Rite-Away's fault. Supposed to call on the way (I work literally at bottom of the hill, 5min), but just showed up at 5pm and son called me. By the time we got home 10 min later, the guy was gone, no note, no call, no word left with son. Was not fixed. Next morning I called at little before 8am and they called guy on way to office and he was coming in to put paperwork into insurance for complete new waterheater. Manager was going to call me. 5hours later after no word, I called and manager was just finishing up a job and would call in 20-30 min. Never even bothered to call. When I called again about 5 o'clock, the girls on the phone would have been right at home in any DMV office in the country, a perfect balance of indifference and inability to do a thing to help.
Took seven days to replace waterheater that also provides heat to condos heating system. No hot water or heat for coldest week in 2years.
No one cares at this business and the owner or owners obviously don't look here evidently. If you have a choice in the matter, avoid this place like the plague.

On 12/20/14 our water heater failed. We went for 7 days without hot water because of these folks. Wish I could leave a -5 rating. This company has contracted with AHS, our home warranty company. The guy showed up at 8:30pm (service window was between 1-5pm). This was 3 days before Christmas. Each day, we called because they never called us back the day before. They said they were waiting for the water heater to come in after being ordered. Christmas came and went and when I called AHS, I was told the heater was ready to be picked up on 12/23/14. Guess we could have had hot water at Christmas but Rite-A-Way said the unit wasn't available. We ended up hiring our own plumber and buying the heater from Home Depot. Bam, it was all done in one day. Avoid this company. Lousy communication, they lied about the heater not being available and they don't call back.

This companies communication is terrible! I had a Plummer come out to change my disposal and he took off and said everything was good! When he left I ran my dishwasher and he didn't even connect everything to the disposal! Water went everywhere! I called rite a way and they don't answer over and over until they want to pick up the phone! I ended up figuring out the issue and
Connecting everything myself! Waste of time but it was the company sent for my home warranty!

In recent interactions, Rite away plumbing has done pretty well, and I have used them many times. So, I have to update my review and say they are alright by me.

They were sent to me through my Home Warranty. When the guy got to my home he said there was nothing he could do because the issue I was having was not covered by my warranty but I read the warranty book which clearly stated the issue was indeed covered. He said he needed to talk to his boss and would get back to me. He never got back to me ever and I called multiple times to still be told someone would get back to me and nope no one ever got back to me then they had the nerve to send me a bill in the mail today for services that were never given (and the bill states Services Completed lol). Not professional at all. Very annoyed I now have to waste my time contacting my warranty company to fix this.

I telephoned my home warranty service to schedule a Saturday appointment for 2 bathroom faucet leaks , and Rite-Away notified me to schedule a 4 hour window appointment. Customer service rating is A NEGATIVE 100% as it relates to communication with the service technicians!!!!!!! The first technician came on Saturday, 11/28, diagnosed the problem, ordered 4 parts and rescheduled the appointment for Saturday, 12/5. On the day of the second appointment, a different technician arrived with 2 out of the 4 parts, indicating the first technician didn't give him all of the parts and I would need to reschedule for next Saturday, 12/13. He further indicated the first technician should be completing the repair although they have alternate weekends off. The second technician was NOT concerned about customer service as one of the faucets should have been repaired being he had 2 of the 4 parts, not to mention his people skills. At this point, I was totally annoyed three weekends tied up due to POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!! If you are independently looking for a plumbing, please DO NOT CHOSE RITE-AWAY.

I had the sense enough to look into things before we went ahead and used this company for our home warranty on a water heater. Like many, things seemed fishy early on.
I was immediately recommended to a sister company for my damage for repair before Rite Away would install the water heater. This sister company was all but forcing me to get my home owners insurance involved because of their high rates.
With the heater installation covered on warranty, I was also going to be charged an additional $320 for parts not included with the heater. Seeing where things were headed, I took the initiative to do my own work, I can afford a day off my job to do this.
Shopping around, it can be intimidating with various prices for similar models. Except, the model Rite Away was going to install was less than $400... Cheaper than what my warranty company is writing my check for and it even comes with the hardware they were going to charge me for. I know it's the exact model because I went to the supplier that was going to sell it to rite away. Hell, I said the company name and they knew the technician by name!
So the short of it. My home warranty wrote me a check for a replacement heater that came with the necessary accessories for free. The same accessories Rite Away was going to charge me $320 for. Any future home warranty folks, do yourself a favor and get the check from your warranty and either hire a reputable plumber, or if you're handy, do it yourself.

This company is TERRIBLE!!! They do not show up when they say they will, they do not call and communicate and they don't care when you call and ask what's going on. I had an appointment today scheduled from 9am-1pm. At 12pm when I had not heard from them I called to be sure they were still coming. I was told the technician was a bit delayed and would be there a bit after 1pm. At 2pm I called back (again having not heard from them) and was told that he MIGHT make it out between 5-6pm. I spoke with a woman named Marlette who could do nothing for me. When I asked to speak with a manager she told me ""he was in a meeting"" and would not be available to speak with me. Upon listening to my dissatisfaction Marlette at least tried to show some empathy, but couldn't/wouldn't do anything to address the issue. The manager's name is Marcos Lopez. I was advised that there were at least 4 customers in the same situation as me and that no one had been called ""because it's not their policy."" Marcos should be embarrassed that multiple customers are upset with his company and he was unwilling to help or even speak with them. Finally, the technician Roger showed up around 5pm to fix the issue. He offered no apology on arriving and was very casual about the encounter. He did fix the problem (a small drip from the outside faucet), and at offered an apology and an excuse while handing me the bill. I cannot stress strongly enough how bad this company is from top to bottom and would discourage anyone from using them.

Stay away! Quoted me $3,000!! I called Raul at Exact root and plumbing and he did the job for $100. These people are a joke.

American Home Shield uses this contract plumbing company (central office in Riverside) in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I am located, to service plumbing repairs. Had three toilets I wanted the technician to look at with various issues, one that we weren't using because it would flush every 5 minutes due to a flapper leak. Technician and I had a couple of back and forth phone calls on his cell phone as he tried to locate our home (he had the wrong address). After he arrived he said one toilet was fine and the other two toilets (same type of toilets and flappers) needed new flappers but he did not carry that flapper in his truck and said it was a rare type. He took a check for the $75 service fee. He removed the flapper from the toilet we were using, rather than the one we weren't using, leaving two toilets non-functional. He stated it was an uncommon flapper type, even though it was a Kohler Toilet (major name brand). He said he would go to the Ace Hardware store, 1 mile away, and if the correct flapper was there, he would be right back. If not, he stated he would be back first thing in the morning to fix our two toilets. Why did he take the flapper from the toilet that was working well enough for us to use rather than the one we weren't using? He never called me back that day to say he wasn't coming back. I called him back a couple of times without an answer and finally left a voicemail requesting that he call me back so that I did not wait around the house the rest of the day if he was not coming back. No courtesy call to let me know that he was not coming back. Next morning I waited for him as we agreed and finally called his company. They said there were no plans for him to come by to fix our two toilets, but after the next weekend was over, they could have someone come by on Monday. My wife and I did not want to wait five days and be without two toilets. I went to the Ace Hardware store 1 mile from my home that the technician obviously never went to. There were twelve flappers for our common Kohler Toilet with matching diagrams of the internal mechanism so that I knew it was an exact match. I bought them and fixed the two toilets myself. Meanwhile despite my protests this company cashed the $75 check for services repairs not done, just because they had come out to see the toilets. I waited on two separate days for the technician who did not call me back. I fixed the toilets myself. They got their money for lousy lack of service.
