I have used the Rick the Happy Plumber in the past but I have to admit that the service is becoming very poor. In the past week I made two appts. to have Rick come out and on the last one I waited between 3-5:00 and no one showed. There was no phone call from Rick and I finally called at 5:30. Someone showed 30 minutes later to replace my bathroom faucets and did more work I did not request. It took an extra hour to do the work plus the cost of the angle stops and supply lines. Rick try to tell me it was part of the contract. There was no contract but only a bill of sale at the end of the job. BTW I am a licensed plumber but can no longer work in the plumbing due to a bad back so I am speaking from experience.

These guys are honest, hard working, and very nice. They came to my elderly mom's house to install a kitchen faucet after another plumber tried to rip her off (trying to charge nearly $400 and aggressively pressured her to agree to the job and pay for the upsells that they claimed were required -his estimate and story changed as soon as my mom signed the permission to start work agreement - suddenly there were all these things that he magically saw that he didn't seem to see moments before my mom signed the agreement - like a brass coupler from 3/8 to 1/2 inch for $50!!! or some valve for $135 - this was Orange Coast Plumbing - In my opinion, avoid Orange Coast Plumbing at all cost). I told them (Orange Coast Plumbing) that we would be happy to pay the nearly $400 bill and let him do everything that he claimed was necessary - but that as soon as he left, I would post the most detailed review with itemized invoices and pictures of the work so people could make their own judgements if they were ripping my mom off or if they did a good job at a reasonable price - the guy called his supervisor and told him what I said - and his supervisor told him to leave immediately and not charge us anything ""as if we never came over - this never happened"". That pretty much made it clear what kind of game these guys are playing.

On the opposite end of the spectrum is Rick - Rick's is a family affair - Arturo (I think he was one of Rick's sons or brothers?) came with Rick's grandson who was on winter break from college. They showed up after Orange Coast left. They looked at the sink and the faucet and laughed, saying that it shouldn't cost nearly that much (the $50 brass coupler actually costs about 5 bucks and the $135 valve thing cost $18!) All told, they did a great, quality job and charged my mom a fraction of what Orange Coast Plumbing said it would cost.

Will definitely be hiring again without hesitation for any future plumbing needs.

I had a leak in an upstairs shower that leaked into my downstairs ceiling. My home warranty sent a plumber who gave me a quote for 2 hrs labor plus parts for $2600. I decided to get a second opinion.

Rick was recommended to me by some friends that own a cabinet shop. Ricks guys came out and gave me a quote for 2 hrs of labor plus parts for $400. WHAT???? As it was late in the day and the leak was not an emergency. I asked the guys to come back the next day and do the work.

They showed up on time, did the work, cleaned up all the mess, then showed me what they had done, and explained that if there were any issues to just give them a call back.

I have since used Rick's service a couple more times. Everyone that I have dealt with has been professional, upfront and honest. All that and they are very responsibly priced.

I highly recommend these guys!
