This place sucks! Of course no plumbing problem ever happens during a week day. Regional was contacted by NIPSCO Home Solutions, who we have our warranty service with, they said they would do it for a $99 emergency fee since it was a Friday night. Fine, I'll pay it, but after hearing the situation their tech said sorry, I am not authorized to do after hour emergency calls. He said they could come Wednesday. What?! It says right on their website they do emergency calls 24/7. What a joke!
Thad came over, went to my leaking shower drain and rooted it out for a few minutes, did not clean up his mess, came downstairs to talk to me and ordered me to put my barking dog outside so I could hear what he had to say, which was that he had no idea what to do or how much it would cost. I was dumb enough to comply. Neither of us knew the gate was open and when the mailman brought my dog to the door I flipped out. Thad acted angry and immediately gave me the bill ($336 for a few minutes of rooting out the drain). I finally called Weiler. Karl fixed the problem completely for half the price and was not disrespectful and angry like Thad from Regional was.
Joni J.Through our water and sewer line protection contract we were advised we would be required to use Regional Plumbing to determine why we had a sewer smell in the yard and inside the garage.
Regional techs arrived and used a camera to check the lines. They identified three areas they felt were problems and provided an estimate for repair. I confirmed twice with the tech on site that the estimate would need to include repair of all three areas.
We received the estimate and saw that only two of the three areas were specifically identified but the third problem was not specified in the estimate. We called Regional, and through their secretary asked again to confirm that all the problems, including the third area that needed repair, was included in this estimate. The secretary contacted the tech who prepared the estimate and assured us that the tech said ""yes"", the third area was included in the estimate. After this confirmation, we then scheduled the repair.
The owner of Regional and a tech arrived and began work. Two of the three areas were repaired. We asked the owner and the tech if they were going to repair the third area. The owner gave a ""thumbs up"" but said that he was going to try to contact the protection contract rep to see if they would cover that repair. It was our understanding that we would pay the entire estimate for repair of all three areas and if the protection contract company covered any of the repairs, we would be reimbursed for those portions of the estimate. The owner said he had to leave to check on some other jobs they were doing that day. He promised to return and camera the lines again as soon as their camera was repaired. We thought he would be completing the third repair when the camera was fixed.
For over a week we continued to try to contact the owner of Regional, to find out when they would be returning to fix the last area. We received no return call. We were finally able to get in touch with the second in command who reviewed the information we had given him, spoke with the owner and determined that no additional work would be done without additional cost to us.
I wouldn't use Regional again, nor would I recommend them to anyone in the future due to their bait and switch tactics in billing, apparent amnesia when it comes to remembering what was agreed upon, lack of professionalism, and non-responsiveness. As others have mentioned in their reviews of Regional, we also felt ""shook down"" when it came time to pay as they wanted all the money noted in the estimate under a guise that they would return and complete the job. We definitely were misled by this company. Common sense would lead anyone to know that the estimate should have included all three areas requiring repair identified by them, not just two of the three. We are not plumbers, therefore we sought clarification, twice when we first requested the estimate and again when reviewing the estimate, and were assured all three times that all three areas were included. Apparently common sense does not prevail with this company and in fact, when we specifically asked ""why would Regional's estimate only include two of the three areas that Regional identified as problems?"" the second in command didn't have an answer and quickly changed the subject. Regional is not concerned with common sense, only dollars and cents!
If you are not sure what is wrong with your plumbing and are calling this company for their professional $99 repair diagnostic..THINK TWICE!! I wish I had read some of these reviews before we called this company! They make their money on membership starts (yes they think they are a gym or private club) and if you don't take that they give you an outrages plumbing estimate of hundreds of dollars. I'm poor and retired I couldn't fork out that kind of money-when I tried fixing it myself I found out it was a 10 cent washer that was leaking!!! Thank God I didn't spend the money they wanted. Can't believe they are in business !!!
Johnny B.I had regional plumbing come out a few weeks ago to troubleshoot my sump pump tripping the GFCI outlet it was plugged in to. The solution they gave me was plug it in to a non-GFCI outlet. Well I trusted them, thinking they knew what they were doing. Big mistake! Tonight (Friday night) my sump pump stopped working no matter what outlet I plugged it in to and my basement flooded. I called Regional Plumbing standing in the basemen with water up to my ankles and the best they could do is schedule me an appointment for Monday morning! Customers be aware! This is NOT a trustworthy professional plumbing service!
Put in a request for a quote and the 1st to call back. Very quick to respond and very quick to provide the quote. Very fair quote with the Furnace/AC package. Regional has a very safe security process when techs come to your home. Very trustworthy. OK'd the quote and received a call very quick with an install time in a matter of 4 days. 2 gentlemen that came very kind and informative. Glad I made the call. Smooth and professional

Priscilla H.If you are considering Regional Plumbing in Valparaiso for a leak, I would reconsider. We had a leak which had caused considerable damage to dry wall downstairs above our fireplace mantle. We called Regional on the 24th of July. We could not locate the leak at first but remembered a broom closet upstairs, above the leak, had been a bathroom. We found a small trap door and found the leak inside from the old toilet line on the 24th. Technician Justin came out on 25th. We showed him the leak. He took pictures and could not figure out how to fix it nor could his boss whom he had called. He said it would cost about $ 330 to fix, and he would call us back when found parts. He never called. The leak got worse, and we had to turn off water in house except for brief intervals. Called Regional on Saturday, July 28 and Monday, July 30. told them of the worsening of the problems. Today is the 31st with no return call to date. We finally isolated the small downstairs pvc pipe that supplied the upstairs line, we turned off the water, my husband cut the pipe, bought a cap for 85 cents and easily repaired the leak downstairs. Thank you, Regional, for being so incompetent and disinterested that you could not come out to repair a simple leak in a pvc line and did not even bother to call us back. Your rudeness saved us $ 330.00. Now we can repair our drywall and paint it thanks to my husband not thanks to Regional.
Kevin C.Absolutely horrible experience. Had to rework underground plumbing due to the plumber laying out the underground wrong. New house multiple leaks, poor workmanship. Several thousand of dollars worth of hardwood floor affected by various leaks. Had to cut, patch and paint walls in several areas due to leaks. Money was held from final payment, but they wouldn't stand by future inferior workmanship. Late, lousy and always an excuse or blame others rather than taking care of the problem. Mike, the owner won't answer phone calls due to how embarrassed he is of all the issues, in fact never came to house to see damages after they took occured. The only thing I ask is they correct their poor workmanship and make sure we don't have to worry about leaks! Mike is a liar and can't remember things he has said even though they are documented in email. I no longer recommend this company!
Honest, great work! They did an amazing job all three times I have had them out for different issues. They thoroughly explained the problem each time and I was pleasantly surprised at the economical cost.
Jenn G.The technician was great. He was friendly, courteous and was able to diagnose the issue, explain what needed to be done and was able to fix it same day. I would recommend the technician again to anyone. However, I wouldn't use Regional again in the future due to a lot of misinformation around their billing.
I was told on the phone (twice) that diagnosis fee was $59 and was waived if we hired them to do the work. When the technician was at our house, we asked a lot of questions around parts and labor time/costs. We were told that labor was $120 per hour and the job would take about two hours. The job actually only took an hour but, when it came time to write the check, we were told they don't bill per hour but as a flat rate fee. The technician used the example of, ""If it only took me five minutes, I'd still have to bill you for two hours.""
The billing department did resolve the issue, in part (I felt that I should get more back than they were willing to give but life's a compromise so...). Everyone was very prompt to respond and courteous though so I'm guessing this was an isolated thing for me. Again, their work was very good, I just felt ""shook down"" when it came time to pay. I'm happy to pay what it costs but I don't like to be misled and I felt a little misled.
So, three stars for the quality work and the likelihood that you wouldn't have the same issue I did. Minus two stars because I did have the issue and wouldn't use them again.
