Having spent 25 years in construction, I discovered my enthusiasm for plumbing engineering at the start. I was captivated by the plumbing science and the diverse methods people used to achieve the same results, which sparked my creativity. I dedicated four years to night school in my early 20s to deepen my understanding of plumbing installation's complexities and engineering. Over the next 15 years, I explored every aspect of plumbing, from constructing 6-7 bathroom mansions to 3-story, 24-unit apartment buildings, quadplexes, duplexes, condos, restaurants, coal-fired to gas-converted boilers, on-demand heaters, and single-family homes with radiant heat. Whatever it is, I’ve handled it. In all these years, I have been involved in the development and expansion of many businesses. After identifying my niche, I went after it with passion, and I love it all.

Customer service, at the moment Brittni answered my call, was outstanding. I had need, not Brittni, to call back several times. Always friendly when answering....knowing it was me. This all took place within an hour and service man was at my home in Santa Cruz by 2:30 that same day and replaced my water heater. It does not get better than this.
Thanks.
Alex B.Mike and his team were total pros. They were always responsive, very prompt, and really took the time to walk us through everything they were planning. I couldn't tell you how their rates compare to others, but their customer service was unparalleled. Will absolutely use them again (though I hope it's not for a while!).
Michael was super quick to come out for an issue I had with the hot water not working at my place. I wasn't there but Michael was still able to coordinate with me and fix the issue really quickly and update me over the phone. Incredibly helpful and responsive - if I ever have an issue again, I know who to call/hire!
Well my old water heater decided to take a poop on me in the middle of a shower so I called around a few places and everyone either didn't answer or was booked out a week. When I called Redwood Pipe Britney answered the phone (super nice!) she said that Mike the owner could come out that day and see what needed to be done. Mike arrived 2 hours later and waisted no time looking over the old water heater. As I expected it was installed by the previous home owner incorrectly and that was part to blame of why it failed. Mike gave me a few options on what i could do and ultimately I went with his recommendation on getting an on demand heater. They scheduled me for the next day and I had hot water by that evening!! It's been 3 months now and I've noticed a reduction in my electric bill and the heater works like a champ. Thanks Mike and team for doing such a solid job! Come back for coffee anytime :)
The guys
Water heater started leaking and no hot water. Called in the morning and Redwood came that afternoon and installed a new heater. Fast, professional, reasonable,
We were really pleased with Redwood Pipe and Drain. We wanted to start moving into our new house and they were able to start the next week and tackle the whole job: new copper pipe, installation of on-demand hot water in different location, water softener, redo drainage, relocation of washer/dryer. His crew were friendly and they worked really well together. We were really pleased that Mike and his team did the work and left the yard just as they found it. The coordination with subs (electrical, sheetrock) was seamless. All that work an they were in and out in less than a week!
Jenn H.My tankless water heater stopped working. I called Redwood Pipe and Drain for a consultation. They were professional and diagnosed the problem quickly. I ended up having to replace the unit and found they were competitively priced. More importantly, every staff member I interacted with was helpful and knowledgeable. They had a crew replace my dying unit with a new one. They did a fantastic job. It's so nice to have hot water again. I highly recommend Redwood Pipe and Drain.
Mike and his team came highly recommended by our equally competent and highly skilled electricians. Mike came by the same day to check out our situation in our newly purchased house and delivered an honest and clear plan of scope. He admitted they were on the higher end of the rate scale but that it reflected the higher quality of work, and it sure did. If you want it done right, you hire the professionals.
Mike recognized the urgency in our situation (wife 8 months pregnant and delivering at home with leaded copper pipes poisoning the system) and moved around his schedule to arrange work the following week and brought his full team (all members super nice and willing to ensure everything is completed to high standards) to accomplish a miracle in 3 days. We now have new mixed PEX and safe copper pipes and drains that actually make sense, that are fully functional, that follow regulatory rules and design, and produce actual water pressure.
They even redid our laundry system, moved the units to the new location and rerouted the lint exhaust tube to ensure safety compliance. They also replaced a leaky toilet and nasty contaminated water heater, and accommodated a future water softener system install. They are our, in the end, our heroes.
I chose RP&D to replace my plumbing and sewer lines based on the good reviews here, on Google, and a friend's recommendation even though they were more expensive because I expected a high quality result. I would have given more stars but there were so many problems that RP&D had to fix I just can't recommend them. I don't know if I got the B-team or what happened but I wouldn't even have known that they did such a poor job insulating the hot water lines and also leaving behind the old sewer line pipes if I didn't crawl under the house after they finished to see what they had done. There also were many other issues too numerous to mention here. They did fix all of the problems I found but I paid more for a quality job that Mike promised but that sure isn't what I received.
LeeAnn M.Mike and his team at Redwood Pipe and Drain just completed a full repipe of my new mountain home. I highly recommend their work. Here's some additional context: I bought the new home without realizing that the pipes were old most likely original, threaded galvanized pipe. We came home one night to a leak sprung at the intersection of the house piping and the water main. After calling the guy from the city to see about where the Water main was and how to shut it off, he advised that we were likely going to need some new piping on the Water main due to its proximity to our redwood trees. I got several quotes to do the work, and we were consistently advised that it made sense to re-pipe the whole house because of the old galvanized piping. Mike came by to do the quote himself and educated me thoroughly about everything I needed to know about this type of work.
As he promised, they were not the least expensive nor the most expensive option. However it was clear that he really knew what he was doing, Many years of experience and plumbing, and their work would be high-quality. I also liked the personal view of meeting the business owner. On the day of installation, Mike was not able to be on site himself for a personal reason. I was hesitant about this at first, but his team did an excellent job, both with the work and also communication. They were considerate and kind and enthusiastic about the job. One of them even came back afterward to fix a small leak that occurred on the sink drain that was not part of their original scope, But may have been unintentionally impacted by their work.
Addition to the pipes, we ended up installing a new hot water heater, installing an under-sink water filter, and changing the sink fixtures in the house as well. I ended up investing a lot more on this project than just a quick fix on a pipe, but I'm very glad I did. And I feel confident that everything under the house is done correctly and will have the kind of longevity I would like it to have as new homeowners.
If you are considering working with Mike and his team, I recommend taking the next step.
Two small things to be conscious of, clean up was not their strongest suit. I had to make a number of requests about re attention to detail on clean up, and there are a few choices made when draining the old water heater that left a bit of a mess near the end. And we could've done a better job of covering floors and services to prevent extra cleanup. Just make sure your expectations in this domain are clear and you talk them through, rather than assume.
Lastly a small found object went missing from the basement during the time of the work. It's not clear if it was thrown away or otherwise removed. We have not located it yet but are still working on tracking it down. This does not at all deter me from recommending the team, but again make sure your expectations are super clear.
