Since our inception in 1920, the comfort and care of our community has been our focus. When Joseph B. Redding established J.B. Redding & Son, he committed himself to the heating and plumbing demands of Princeton University, with the goal of establishing a legacy—a lasting tradition of exceptional service that his family would uphold for generations.

Currently, the Redding family’s 4th and 5th generations carry on this legacy. Customers refer to us as Redding's Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning—and while we began in a barn on Linden Lane, we transitioned to 234 Nassau Street in Princeton in 1945. Since then, we have expanded our offerings and stay at the cutting edge of plumbing and HVAC services at our new facility located at 759 State Road.

Michael Redding, our President, along with Vice President Laura Redding, guarantees the well-being of students, faculty, and employees in the community through both Redding's Mechanical and Redding's Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning.

Michael Redding is the President of Redding's Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning, overseeing the residential and light commercial division, and has dedicated 30 years to the family business. He graduated from Widener University with a BA in Business Administration and has pursued further education for many years, obtaining and maintaining plumbing, heating, and air conditioning certifications. Michael holds the title of Master Plumber (license #10928) and he holds a Plumbing/Mechanical Inspector license (#8788). Being part of the fifth generation in the family business, Mr. Redding continues to uphold and enhance the family's tradition of quality and exceptional service established in 1920.

Their customer service is absolutely horrible, and the office staff is incredibly rude and unprofessional. On top of that, their technicians are ridiculously overpriced for the quality of service they provide. The products they use are inferior, yet they continue to use them, resulting in poor performance and issues down the line. I highly recommend staying away from this company. You can definitely find better service and value elsewhere.

i have used Reddings for years . In the last 2 years the service has been inadequate and they have definitely overcharged me. The only service person who seems to know what he is doing is Kyle.
When my basement flooded, they sent out 2 servicepeople to watch the pump redirect the water into the yard for hours. Then they charged me for both people. That's just one example. I have switched plumbers.

This is the worst HVAC contractor in the business. I am in an assisted living community & 3 times in the last 3 weeks freezing icy air has blown into my apartment. Over $1,000 has been paid to these incompetent contractors for repair, yet all they have done is ""bandaids."" I continue to be woken in the middle of the night with icy air blowing on me & no hope for heat. They send their Most Incompetent & Stupidest employees. I'm 82 years old & in treatment for cancer & that's difficulty enough. But these CREEPS don't give a damn who suffers as long as they can rake in the cash. BOTTOM FEEDERS.

I had used Redding's services at a previous residence and when the older AC unit at my current home would not kick on, I called them first. Their technician was here the same day and found that it was a minor wiring issue and had it working again within 45 min of arriving.

I highly recommend Redding's for your heating and AC needs.

We have been dealing with a heating problem for more than 2 years. Our house is older with a hot water radiator system - not something many people work on these days. Other companies couldn't fix it (although they charged us a bunch for fixing other things that they thought were the problem). The guy from Redding listened to our story and then got to work diagnosing the issue. He was very experienced with old house systems. He was professional and very nice. Hopefully, this has fixed the problem but if not, we're calling him back and not going somewhere else.

My toilet flooded, the off valve was broken and my whole family has COVID. The on call guy(Josh?) was so patient and kind and talked me through turning off only the bathroom water(FaceTiming while I ran around the basement). What a true gentleman. I will be forever grateful.

The customer service was terrible. There was no respect and they treated me as if I were an idiot.

I called with an issue with my AC. The receptionist (Bree?) was rude and in knowledgeable. I'm never calling back.

We had a leaky pipe. A plumber was sent and he did a good job at a temporary fix.
He said a manager will be in touch to evaluate a permanent fix. No body called.
After 4 weeks and multiple calls, the manager arrived. He was attentive, took multiple pictures and discussed alternative solutions. When he left ,he said will call in a few days.
Again nobody called. my emails directly to the manager were not answered. I asked to please let me know if they are not interested in the job , so that I can contact another company. No reply.
Eventually after another 5 weeks, I got hold of the manager on the phone. To my great surprise he had no memory of his visit to our house and remembered nothing about the plumbing job as well as a new heat pump project that we had discussed.
He promised that he will check his notes and will get back to us in two days. I am writing this 8 days later. we haven't heard from him.
They have wasted more than two months of our time.
I had called this company on the recommendation of my son who is a building contractor I guess they will lose his business as well.
What a disappointment. Their workers might be good but the management is definitely unreliable and discourteous.

Reddings did a full survive project for us on an old, abandoned house we purchased. All new hvac and plumbing throughout. As with all complicated, old house projects, it had its share of surprises. Redding handled each as they came up and communicated with us regularly. Not only was the crews and office staff delightful to work with, but they were able to give us all we wanted and bring it in under budget!

We have remodeled many houses before and Reddings will be the one we come back to for future work in the Princeton area!

I have a very old home with a complex HVAC system and rabid warren of plumbing. Redding's has always been reliable and knowledgeable of complex issues. They always do a solid job, but as with any shop, you'll need to match the tech with the job, eg, if you want to set up smart thermostats vs fix a 100-year old boiler. So long as you're clear and informative, they have a deep and talented bench.
