For over a century, the comfort and care of our community has been our focus. As Joseph B. Redding founded J.B. Redding & Son, he dedicated his efforts to the heating and plumbing demands of Princeton University, with a vision to build a legacy—a tradition of quality and service that would be carried on by his family for years to come.

Currently, the Redding family’s 4th and 5th generations carry on this legacy. Our clients know us as Redding's Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning—originating in a barn on Linden Lane, we relocated to 234 Nassau Street in Princeton in 1945. We have since diversified our services and stay at the cutting edge of plumbing and HVAC services at our current location, 759 State Road.

Under the leadership of President Michael Redding and Vice President Laura Redding, we ensure the comfort of local students, faculty, and employees through our divisions, Redding's Mechanical and Redding's Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning.

Michael Redding serves as the President of Redding's Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning, heading our residential and light commercial operations, bringing 30 years of experience to the family business. He holds a BA in Business Administration from Widener University and has pursued further education for many years, obtaining and maintaining plumbing, heating, and air conditioning certifications. Michael holds the title of Master Plumber (license #10928) and he holds a Plumbing/Mechanical Inspector license (#8788). As a member of the fifth generation in this family business, he strives to maintain and elevate the family’s legacy of quality and service that has been in place since 1920.

We had a leaky pipe. A plumber was sent and he did a good job at a temporary fix.
He said a manager will be in touch to evaluate a permanent fix. No body called.
After 4 weeks and multiple calls, the manager arrived. He was attentive, took multiple pictures and discussed alternative solutions. When he left ,he said will call in a few days.
Again nobody called. my emails directly to the manager were not answered. I asked to please let me know if they are not interested in the job , so that I can contact another company. No reply.
Eventually after another 5 weeks, I got hold of the manager on the phone. To my great surprise he had no memory of his visit to our house and remembered nothing about the plumbing job as well as a new heat pump project that we had discussed.
He promised that he will check his notes and will get back to us in two days. I am writing this 8 days later. we haven't heard from him.
They have wasted more than two months of our time.
I had called this company on the recommendation of my son who is a building contractor I guess they will lose his business as well.
What a disappointment. Their workers might be good but the management is definitely unreliable and discourteous.

Reddings did a full survive project for us on an old, abandoned house we purchased. All new hvac and plumbing throughout. As with all complicated, old house projects, it had its share of surprises. Redding handled each as they came up and communicated with us regularly. Not only was the crews and office staff delightful to work with, but they were able to give us all we wanted and bring it in under budget!

We have remodeled many houses before and Reddings will be the one we come back to for future work in the Princeton area!

I have a very old home with a complex HVAC system and rabid warren of plumbing. Redding's has always been reliable and knowledgeable of complex issues. They always do a solid job, but as with any shop, you'll need to match the tech with the job, eg, if you want to set up smart thermostats vs fix a 100-year old boiler. So long as you're clear and informative, they have a deep and talented bench.

Extremely disappointing service. Estimate was off by over $1,000, then when I called to speak with the owner or manager, he yelled at me and called me a liar. Please DO NOT ever use this company.

Unreliable. I made a plumbing appointment two weeks in advance and they cancelled on me last minute. Unreliable company

The employees and the company are fine: the company is responsive to problems and techs nearly always show up on time.

The problem here is the product: we have had nothing but problems with our York HVAC system from almost the moment it was installed 4 years ago. The first outdoor unit died as a result of a line failure inside the machine, but because of the design of the unit, that line could not be replaced or redone. We had to replace the entire unit, and it was only three years old at the time.

Fast forward to today: the heat pump unit we now have is about a year old and it is not working. The indoor fan is blowing but the heat pump is not putting out cold air--indeed, it's not working at all. My house is now 80 degrees. As usual, I expect a tech to show up before the end of the day, but what will he find in this new heat pump? More broken lines that can't be fixed and news that we must yet again replace our heat pump?

On top of this, we regularly get messages about random zone panel faults, outdoor equipment faults, whatever. The product is just not reliable and I wish Reddings would quit installing these products and find another brand for their customers.

I discovered a leak in my house close to midnight on a Friday. Josh took the time at that late hour to clearly explain what I needed to do to stop the leak. He was patient and very knowledgeable. His kindness is something I'll not soon forget. If I could give 10 stars I would. Thank you!

We have lived in Montgomery Township NJ for 7 years. We have used three HVAC service and installation businesses during this time. Prior to doing business with Reddings, we were using Princeton Air. We will always do business and rely on Reddings from now on. Most recently Reddings installed two new HVAC units in our home in Skillman. This work involved removal, relocation and installation of furnace and condensers. It also involved re-ducting of two entire floors. Unlike any provider we have used before, they were professional in every aspect of their work, they were problem solvers an would only sell solutions that we needed, even talking us out of additional work when it would not provide benefit. They met all their commitments, followed-up on everything they did and delivered high quality solutions that we are very happy with. Their people kept the work place clean and were respectful. In addition, they were price competitive to ANY of the other contractors we have worked with. They have earned all our future business in the HVAC and plumbing space. They also now provide service facilities for us. This is not a co-erced review. We receive no benefit for writing it. We just know that finding high quality, competitively priced reliable services is difficult to do. If you require more details of work they did or our experience with them you can contact me at [email protected]. I also have read other reviews on the internet that suggest some of their office staff were not polite. I can not comment on the experiences that those people had, however I can say categorically that we did NOT have the same experience. All staff, office and field have been pleasant, understanding, competent and professional.

I recently called Redding's to repair a few minor items in my home. The tech they sent out was late and unprofessional. He was unable to fix one single thing. In fact, he left the situation worse than when he arrived. I also received an invoice for well over $200. I called hoping to rectify the situation and, although I was promised a call back, never received one. Oh well. There are plenty of other plumbers in the area. I guess I will be calling them next time.

Redding's are experts!. Eric was the diagnosis tech who really helped us out. We had a surprise party planned for my in laws, and the heater 'went out'. When I spoke with Eric initially he was quick to understand our situation. He responded quickly, and even stopped by the 'shop' in town to be sure he had commonly replaced parts for my unit 'on the truck'. He nailed the repair quickly and we were charged less than $500.00. Later in the week I saw Eric at the market, and he was nice enough to ask how the party went... Redding's is now my HVAC/Plumbing company.
