We had several small plumbing repairs needed: new water shutoff valves in the kitchen and bathroom, a new P-trap in the bathroom, and a safety overflow pipe for the water heater. The plumber that came out quoted $3,200, claiming it would take over 6 hours! Outraged, I called their office number to discuss the ludicrous price. Among the line items was $1,100 for changing out the P-trap, which is a $20 part and takes about 10 min of work. They offered to take the price down to $3,000 so obviously I didn't bite. As the plumber was leaving he wanted to charge me an additional $250 for some """"diagnostic"""" work that he claimed he did, though he couldn't specify what that was. We hadn't asked for anything besides the $89 service call that we agreed to when we initially called Red Cap for the appointment since we were in a jam and needed someone quickly. I told him I wasn't paying more than the $89 we agreed to on the phone and he reluctantly backed down. Luckily we were able to locate another licensed plumber who came out that same day, did all the work in one hour and charged $425! Red Cap is a rip-off scam company. I don't know how they sleep at night charging what they do. It's unreal they're allowed to operate in this manner. It's pure price gouging.

I had red cap out to my home because I was having a problem with my air conditioner. They sent out two very young technicians, which I had no problem with they checked my outside unit never went up into my addict and checked my return, and they never pulled my thermostat off the wall to check the batteries, which is a very common reason for the issue I was having. They asked me how old my air conditioner was and I told them it was just coming 10 years old as soon as they heard that they were focused on replacing my entire air conditioning unit. Said the problem was with some motherboard and it would cost $1000 to repair and that may not fix the problem so I should just replace my entire unit. They kept trying to sell me their insurance through their company and replacing my unit that's all they were focused on. They charged me $89 to do absolutely nothing the next day I had another air-conditioning company come out the first thing they did was pull my thermostat off the wall and when they opened it, the batteries had exploded in the thermostat and ruined my thermostat so they put a new thermostat up and my air conditioner has worked beautifully ever cents. This company is all about selling you new AC units they want to make as much money as possible , they don't want to fix problems. I then called to speak with the manager to let them know what had happened never received a call back. This is a very unprofessional company that is only out to screw people. If I could leave them negative stars I would stay away from red cap !

Called to arrange for their advertised $49 a/c tune up. Appnt scheduled for 4/12 between 12-6. At around 3:00 they called and said Tech couldn't get there today and rescheduled for Sun. 8-12. Sun. at around 11:00 they call and say tech will be there in 1 - 1/12 hours. Two hours go by...no tech. I call and was told Tech is on his first job and I'm next. I informed him that I got a text yesterday telling me tech would be here at 8:00 am, so I assumed I was the first job. I waited and finally a little after 3:00 Tech shows up (different than the tech they emailed earlier). I told him this would be a quick visit as this was just a tune up & cleaning. He said that the tune up just means they inspect everything and then make recommendations for what needs to be done, including if cleaning should be done, and then provide estimates. I told him that although I didn't blame him, I believe this was deceitul on the part of Red Cap, and they should have explained that to me when I first called requesting tune up & clean using the $49 coupon. I wasted two entire days, only to learn that Red Cap uses a bait & switch tactic. They will NEVER have the opportunity to disappoint me again!!

They missed 2 out of 4 appointments and did not call to cancel either. The second time I called 3 times and was told they would be there each call. They rescheduled me without calling. Never use this company.

Called because of a stench in my home I thought was coming from the air vent in one room. Technician said the stench """"hit him in the face"""" when he opened the AC unit, and that our ducts were full of """"biological growth."""" A Red Cap consultant came late in the day and said the same thing, then quoted us an outrageous price for total replacement of all equipment/ducts (I'll just say it was the price of a vehicle). Called another company for a second opinion and he insisted I come along with him as he checked the unit. Unit smells FINE, works FINE, the ducts have some dust but no mold/mildew, and either the tech or the consultant had knocked the drainage line loose and started a leak that had been dripping into our ceiling for 24 hours. Some investigation revealed the stench was coming from our chimney/fireplace and just circulating into the AC system. Spent a couple hundred dollars for wildlife removal to come deal with the dead bird in the chimney. A few days later, Red Cap sent me the quote.... except it was for a totally different customer/amount. LOL. Avoid these people.

Scan of a business. Had three of there workers come out for the same problem and they all told me something different was wrong and every time they come they tell me all of the things that are wrong and that I just fix right away.

I just got quoted $2300.00 to connect my Weber Natural Gas grill to my already pre-plumbed patio gas outlet on my new home. Insane price for a simple gas grill hook up. Not in this lifetime. I paid the $89.00 dollar dispatch fee and said goodby. I've lived in Florida 40 years and am a business owner myself. Outrageous!

I can't believe these people! 2 days after our Yelp review of Jan 16, '23 that also went to Red Cap's FB page, they send this to Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Now we have proof of 2 Red Cap Execs lying to 2 Government investigators. The Controller saying the charge was for all the items and they did them. The Plumbing Manager, in an e-mail to a Pinellas County Investigator, saying """"The invoice auto populates those items based on the task code. All are 'if needed'"""". He knows darn well that Red Cap Plumbing did not fulfill this contract. He told us they don't have to do what they promise. It is not us trying to """"renegotiate the contract""""! Red Cap took the money from the bank, on a credit card they opened, on an estimate of 2 days before they even came to do the work- then did not do what was on the estimate. They never reached out to us! We never refused a refund for work not done! They never offered to do the concrete work; the worker said """"we don't do cement"""". They refused to break down the invoice so we could dispute the charges with the bank for work not done. That is why we talked to several other plumbers. The highest price we could find for the 4 items of work that they did was $2,600 and that was if the work was done properly, as promised. Which it wasn't. They used a bladed chain instead of the promised, on 3 documents, sand paddle, which would have been safe for our ABS plastic pipes. Mr. Wetherell ignored this part of our complaint filed with FDACS. The price was $7,648, we had paid them $400 which they discounted off the price and charged on the card $7,248. They were here for 4 hours for $7,648 and are saying that this is """"fair"""". We have every right to report unfair and deceptive trade practices. The truth is not slander. This letter to FDACS is slander and illegal- you cannot make false statements in writing with the intent to mislead a public servant in the performance of his official duty. Both these Red Cap Execs did exactly this. Their lies are public record. They can trade their red caps for an orange jump suit! Don't just Yelp-report them to Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation! Mediation does not work with these people! We tried our best for 3 months!

Just had to repair a wax seal on our toilet that was leaking. Nathaniel P. from Red Cap was our technician. For only being 25 years old he was knowledgeable well beyond his years. He was very knowledgeable, professional, and a pleasure to talk with. He explained every option we had and when we decided on one he executed the service perfectly. I would definitely hire him if I was running my own company. I work in a service industry business and I really appreciated his professionalism and honesty. He took the time to fully explain the situation and the solutions. This is the second time we have used Red Cap and each time their employees and technicians have been exceptional. And their work has been flawless. I truly trust them for any plumbing needs we might have in the future.

Red Cap Plumbing was called, because I thought my water heater was leaking. I live in Valrico, FL. They then advised me that the leak was coming from the copper pipes that run underneath the foundation. They offered me two choices - repair the leak, but advised that the leak could reoccur in another area of the house. The latter alternative was to re-do the plumbing, and run the pipes through the attic. I took the latter option (big mistake). Well, the pipes aren't insulated, so in the summer, you have to run the water for 5-10 MINUTES to get cold water. The inverse is true when there is chilly weather during winter. The foreman, John, estimated the job for 2 days. They did the job in one day, but took some """"shortcuts"""". In the bathroom, they drilled holes in the counter, to run the pipe to the sink. They should have run the pipe in the wall behind the counter, to reach the sink. This job was done in 2017, but I wanted to run some irrigation to my garden, the other day. Pressure is too low on outside faucets to be of any use for irrigation. My advice is do not use this company. They over-charge, and under-perform.
