Disgraceful business practices. My HOA uses these guys because they're used to having used them for 20 years and don't feel like changing. Our building is full of problems and its no wonder after my experience.

They came into my home when I was out of the country to fix a leak under my sink they said. They left my place disgusting with crud from their shoes and tools, didn't bother cleaning up. When I came back there were bugs everywhere. Also, they didn't replace the water valves they disconnected!!

I then had my own new plumber come in, who said R&D should have reattached the lines and updated the valves to modern standards. He gave me a quote to do it for the faucet, dishwasher, and icebox

I called Ruben from R&D to give me his own quote which seemed like a good deal. I verified exactly what he was going to and made sure that that quote was for ""e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g"" - my own plumber made sure that I verified that. He sends a plumber over who puts in 1 line - to the faucet. and leaves the rest alone. I told him the quote was for everything. He said that Ruben told him to leave it alone.

I call Ruben the next day who revises history and pretends like he said it was just for the faucet and that everything together would be extra. Uhh no. What, should I have recorded the conversation to play back to him? What a jerk. He had the audacity to say ""you want that, you give me more money. you gotta pay more money"" I told him he was lying to me, and he said no. I said yes, and he hung up.

Now it's going to cost me way more than if I had my own guy come in from the beginning.

Seriously go with ANYONE else.

I wish I'd read the reviews first. The two people who are so bad: Donna and Miguel, have been complained about in these reviews numerous times.
Call a different plumber!
""Donna"" at their phone desk is a rude as they come. I sent the worker away because he was on the phone on a personal call and when I asked him (2nd time) to please make the call later he responded ""I can do everything at once"". but the problem was he wasn't working--was just talking.
I wanted a different worker, especially after he refused to hang up...three phone calls later, R and D (or Donna) is more concerned about making me promise to pay $275 than finishing the job. She hung up on me when I asked that she please have Ruben, the owner call me.
Later, Donna also claimed the call was an emergency, was only 4 minutes, and was about the man's sick child. When I responded that it wasn't--it was over 20 minutes by the first time I asked him to hang up--and that I heard the whole conversation she did not believe me and asked if I spoke Spanish??!! (The call was in English)

Update: the owner never called me and they never came back. Two big holes left, job not done.

Do not use them they are crooks. Miguel came to our house and clearly did not want to work on a Friday morning. We had a leak between the first and second floor and he kept insisting there was no leak despite the evidence all over the ceiling, until water started pouring out of the ceiling. He then quoted us a range to fix the problem ""depending on how long it takes"" and that it ""could be more."" After 2 hours of work he charged us $550! When I said that was too much ($225 per hour) he said its a flat rate. If it's a flat rate why did he quote us a range??? Also, while here he replaced a shower head with one that did not work and leaked. After I called the company and told them that I thought I had been overcharged and that the shower fixture did not work and was not properly installed. I was told the owners would call on Monday, but no call. On Tuesday I called and Donna told me she would get back to me. Next thing I know, Friday morning, Miguel comes to my house without anyone calling or letting me know and demands to be paid. I told him I would pay a reasonable hourly rate but not pay $250 per hour. He stomped off but it was extremely unpleasant. Buyer beware with this company. They will try to take you for as much as possible. In addition, they do shoddy work - so really overcharging for bad work - they should be out of business.

The assigned plumber was very pleasant, came promptly, worked efficiently and cleanly to repair a broken pipe, and then charged us a reasonable fee. Highly recommend.

Terrible customer service, was stood up for an appointment that was scheduled. The woman who runs the office offered no alternative times and had no reason to explain why someone didn't show up. She recalled our conversation three days prior when I booked it, so there really was no excuse and to have no option for a reschedule despite it being their fault is pretty unreasonable.

Called early on Saturday morning. They sent Miguel, who arrived in 30 minutes. I was quoted a fair hourly price prior to his visit. He diagnosed and repaired the job within an hour. I definitely recommend.

These guys are legit. We had a backed up kitchen sink this morning. I called at 8AM, and the woman who answered said someone could be at my place between 9 and 10AM. AMAZING. But even more amazing, the plumber, Juan, showed up at 845! The problem was resolved by 9AM. He even went down to investigate the building utility room which is right below my kitchen to make sure there wasn't anything else that could be backed up as a result of my kitchen sink. Pricing was extremely reasonable considering how quickly they came.

I've done business RD plumbing for several years and own multiple properties. I made a service call for a backed up shower and sink at one of my units. The technician came out and used his automatic coil snake to clear the main line. I received a call the same day and the tenant complained about the same issue. I called and the next day the same plumber came out and ran a snake where the kitchen clean out is located. I asked him why he did not check this the prior day. He said it was a separate issue. Well, I received my invoice and charged $206.50 for running the cable 150 feet. The clean out is located in 20 feet up the property line, and the property is 120 ft deep. I also received an invoice for an additional $85.00 for plumber to run a cable 15 ft for the kitchen clean out. I called Donna to tell inform her this was the same issue. She said she spoke with the plumber and they were two separate jobs. Really! I was stunned by the lack of customer service, the way she treated a long standing customer. I then questioned her on the amount. She said we went up on our prices. I called two plumbing companies to price check. One company charges $99.00 for 100 ft fir a main line clean out. This is all that's needed in most Santa Monica properties since most clean outs are located midway on the property and average 90 to 120 ft deep. The second quoted $150 for running 150 ft, they asked for the clean out location and the depth of the property. Plain and simple, R&D plumbing is a rip off. In addition, I felt the take it or leave behavior of not caring about their customers is sickening. I hope you get prices, check the scope of what they did, and how they billed. R&D IS A SCAM COMPANY and could care less about it's customers. I will never use them again. This is the first time I've taken the time to write a review. DO NOT USE THEM!

This is one of the best plumbing companies in Los Angeles. I had a lovely Dutch Colonial home in Windsor Square in the early 90's. The vintage bathroom had a dripping faucet coming out of the original subway tile. I had several companies try to stop the leak and Reuben was the only guy that knew what he was doing. Now that I am a realtor I always recommend them to my clients.
