I called with a backed up sewer line after hours, a serviceman was onsite and had the job complete within 1 hour and 40 minutes. The price was reasonable and the serviceman was great.

My husband usually takes care of these problems so I was a little concerned about being told I needed extra work done etc. Fortunately for me Preferred Plumbing and Drain took good care of me.

One star is way too many. Not only were they 2 and half hours late for the appointment when they said they would be there in an hour but the serviceman WALKED RIGHT INTO MY HOUSE when i didnt' answer the door right away. i heard my name called and when I walked to the front room he had walked in the front door. VERY UPSETTING to say the least... DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE WITHOUT A GUARD DOG FIRST!

I run a medium size property management company and use Preferred Plumbing and Drain for all my calls. They main reason is because of their response time, usually within one hour or less. I love the fact they will give me a free estimate first (they advertise this). Make sure you ask for a call with a price before the work is started I have found they are reasonable on snakes jobs and diagnosing the problem.

We have used Preferred Plumbing several times now and were impressed both times The first time I was going on vacation the next day and called them at 9am for a bad odor problem. A great plumber came out evaluated the problem, ended up changing the wax seal on the toilet and cleaned out the drains. Great job. The second time we had a seriously backed up sewer line and could not run water in the house. The plumber had it cleaned out in about an hour. I can also say that the office staff is very professional; they provide updates on your phone as to when the plumber should arrive, and do followup to make sure you are satisfied. There is also a warranty. With their 24/7 availability I really can't see calling anyone else. This started off as a search on the internet and now I have someone to call.

Do not use this company. I repeat, do not use Preferred Plumbing. I tried to replace my kitchen faucet (weekend warrior). It was leaking from the top so, I called Preferred Plumbing because of their 2 page ad in the yellow pages and it said no extra charge for weekends (this was a Sunday).

The plumber came within 1 hour and had his tools in a leather file holder (like I used to use for an office job). This should have been a red flag. He said no problem he could re-install and if I would help him it would be $245. What did I know I said OK. He didn't have a flashlight so, I got mine and flashed it where he was working under the sink. Long story short after 4 hours and not fixing the issue he said I needed a new stop valve on the outside and to rebuild my hot water heater (he was there to install a faucet). He also said the kitchen faucet I purchased was bad so, I should return it (yeah right). Also, I needed to call the city and have them turn off my water. It probably would have ended up costing me several thousand dollars if I would have done Preferred's recommendations.

He said since he didn't really fix the problem he would reduce the cost to only $145. I paid and called 2 other plumbers on Monday. Both chuckled at the story I told them and one gave me an estimate of $120 to do the job. He did it in less than 1 hour and actually had his own flashlight (go figure).

I called Preferred Plumbing that week to voice my displeasure and filled out their customer survey card again not a glowing review. It's been 3 weeks and i still haven't heard from them.

Update: I did hear from the owners after my review on Yelp. They returned my $145 and credit $200 towards future plumbing services.

i have all ready found a great plumber so, I won't use the $200 credit. It was great they returned my money but, they may want to contact customers with complaints in the future to avoid negative reviews on Yelp.

Whatever you do, DO NOT use this plumbing company!!!!
They charged me $1300 to snake my drain! The plumber was here for 5 hours the first day, he told me he would only charge me for the first hour because he did not resolve the issue. then he came back a second day for another 3 hours, I was charged for 8 hours at $119/hr.
he charged me for parts! what parts? he used a snake!
when i first called them with a clogged pipe, they said they would be here in under an hour, it took 3 hours to get here.

every part of my experience was a NIGHTMARE!

the owner would not return my calls or emails or help me to resolve this problem.
i have never been so badly treated. i wish i had just called roto-rooter, but i saw Preferred Plumbing's ad in the Yellow Pages, i wish i had used Yelp instead! lesson learned, a very painful and expensive lesson.

If I could give this company NEGATIVE five stars, I would. The poor service spans from customer service offices to the actual plumbers. They overcharge and the plumber they sent us was a joke. A rude joke.

Plumber: This clown charged us $125 to turn an allen wrench on our garbage disposal and $89 to crawl into a crawlspace to check what parts we needed for a vent repair on our hot water heater, which had been diagnosed by PG&E. When we questioned this charge, the plumber said, ""I had to get my shirt dirty. Look at my shirt!"" The rest of his $664 bill was fixing the vent, which took about an hour. The most amazing show of BAD service and SHEER IGNORNACE was when the plumber left without re-lighting the pilot light to the hot water heater. When we called Preferred Plumbing to get someone back over, they said, sure, we'll have someone there in less than an hour. They called the clown.

Said clown immediately called to tell us we should light the pilot light ourselves. We explained that the thermocoupler had been disconnected and we did not have the tool to reconnect it. So he told us we should get PG&E back over to relight the pilot, that was not his job. My husband argued and argued with how the whole fix was about the hot water heater, hello. Finally, he showed up, pissed off. He went downstairs and lo and behold, confessed that he didn't actually KNOW HOW to relight the pilot light. We called PG&E who were weeks out for this kind of call. It was, after all, the plumber's job. So we called Preferred again and they sent someone out the next day. Someone trained, apparently. But that was only after they threatened to charge us for this visit.

The final invoice was illegible and since we are renters, we needed a clear copy of what work was done and how much it cost, so we could take it off our rent. They said they would have it to us within two days. Preferred gives you two days to dispute a charge. A week later, we are still waiting, even after several messages to ""customer service."" I wonder why it's taking them so long?

DO NOT CALL THESE CLOWNS. They overcharge and they are obviously mostly incompetent plumbers, not to mention business people.

I called Preferred Plumbing and Drain yesterday to get a free estimate on a sewer pipe that another company ""recommended"" I have replaced.
The lady at Preferred Plumbing was very polite and told me someone would be out within an hour. About 45 minutes later (I consider that pretty quick) a technician was at my door. He immediately went to work and diagnosed the situation.
After his inspection he told me that the pipe was not in the terrible condition that I was led to believe it was. There was, however, some root buildup (the other company was supposed to have taken care of that). He suggested a product that I could buy....NOT FROM HIM!...at most any hardware store, that would control the root problem.
He gave me an estimate on what it would cost IF in fact I did want the line replaced. I could hardly believe the difference in the price compared to the other company!
I haven't had any work done by Preferred Plumbing and Drain, but if the professionalism and knowledge of the technician that came to my house is any indication of how they would do the job, they will be the company I will call.

I have used this company two different times with two different plumbers being sent out.
First, I must say that when you call the company, Diana is very professional, very nice and very understanding.
Second, both plumbers were at my house within 35-45 mins, which I think is awesome.
And third, the plumbers went over everything they were going to do before any work was done, just to be clear on price and what work needed to be done.
The plumbers were clean, pleasant and professional. I would definitely use this company again and recommend them to others.

They were absolutely terrible! Sent out a young man, dirt on his shoes and on the snake he brought into the house. Charged $165.00 per hour plus $99.00 to remove toilet. I had a blocked waste line, he counldn't get the snake down the clean out, then took off the toilet, couldn't get the snake down there either, blamed my pipe lines, offered to go up on the roof the go down the air vent. Thankfully, I declined. $265.00 later my drain had not been unclogged. I asked him to leave. He didn't replace the wax ring, used incomplete bolts for the toilet so the caps don't clasp on, used warn out scratched dirty bolt caps (I'm guessing they were mine , but were ruined from whatever he did to them.), left dirt and waste debrie all over toilet, four feet up walls in bathroom, all over the tile and grout floor, dirty silacone on the toilet, counter, and light switch, hand prints and foot prints throughout the house.

Next day I called another plumbing company. Job was complete within minutes. Used a snake down the cleanout to unblock the clog.
