Plumbing & Cooling Nerds is the latest iteration of the HVAC and plumbing firm established by John Verhoff after relocating to Southwest Florida in 2007. At first, he focused on building projects. But, after weathering the 2008-2009 recession, he realized that employment with contractors didn't provide flexibility over his business flow as he hoped.
Come 2012, Verhoff changed his direction to home service exclusively, at first collaborating with a colleague on a venture that had locations in Florida and two other states and two more states. After he acquired his partner on the Florida portion of the company in 2016 AD, he sought a new name and image. That's how the birth of Plumbing & Cooling Nerds came to life.
We takes pride on providing “smarter home solutions” that are “provided with enthusiasm and expertise.”

I used to be able to fix or repair anything. 42 years auto master tech. Now handicapped I have to rely on paid """"Pros"""" to do repairs. I called plumbing nerds for an estimate to replace a leaky tub faucet. By my est this would take 2 hours. They gave me an estimate for $1289 to replace this faucet. I have learned that Naples is saturated with crooks that think everyone here is dumb n rich. When i asked what that covered I was told """"replace the faucet"""". They run lots of commercials n have new trucks. Guess they have to pay for that somehow. Good luck. I just said NO.

Where do I begin. The people from Plumbing Nerds have been at my home a few times. They put in a new water filter for my home years ago. As time goes on I had them come for various things. Due to random black in my water, Plumbing Nerds insisted that I had to have my whole house repiped. I have since learned they were wrong. The issue was a defective water pressure tank, leaking black randomly throughout the house and water filters Again, no overhaul needed to the pipes- omitting a costly $8,000.00 dollar job that wasn't necessary. But my worst experience was when they came for two reasons; one to inspect a hot water tank to determine it was properly installed for a new insurance company. Plumbing Nerds put the cost of this at $895.00 just to make that determination. I ended up paying nothing. I also wanted to replace a valve in my shower. The concern I had was that I didn't want to damage the dated tile in the bathroom. For this task they wanted $1,400.00 and couldn't guarantee they wouldn't damage the tile. When a friend called during their visit, he insisted that I not use them due to the excessive pricing. I eventually had a decent plumber come through. Not only did he charge me only $415.00, he replaced the valve by going through the wall from another room. What a concept...

Terrible experience. i made an appointment five days in advance of today, i explicitly explained what we needed done, repair to an ice maker. I was told this could be done. I was then contacted and told they could not make the appointment after our tenants has waited five hours to have someone show up today. When i told them we needed them to come today, i was then told they really do not repair ice makers. So, either the rep i spoke to today is lying to me about service or the intake person did. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Honest trust worthy company. Our tech Jeff was on point with his updates. I was impressed he showed up on time and ready to work. He explained what was going on with my hot water heater and had it fixed in no time. He was extremely professional and respectful and now days that goes a long way. I will definitely use plumbing nerds in the future!

I will say at the beginning I was very impressed with the professional response I received. they were very good at coming out quickly and then it all went down hill. my impression was they were there to sell me whatever service they could think up. then the prices quoted were so high I basically said they could leave as it was ridiculous. to clean out a main drain $4000 when the common charge is closer to $450-550. camera service for the toile was over $1000 when it is normally $525. they wasted their time and mine!!!!

If you're way too lazy to shop around and are OK with paying five times more than what you should pay for any given job, and if you're OK with being constantly upsold, then go ahead and give these guys a call. Or you can just call almost literally anyone else and save 80% from what these people will charge you. Definitely do not recommend.

I had a high water bill and call the Plumbing Nerds. It was a bad flapper in one toilet. It was recommended that I replace both toilets for about $1500, or just the insides or just the flappers. Replacing the two flappers was $306. I said that it was too expensive. He told me that he is a certified, licensed plumber and is worth this fee. I bought two flappers online for $20 and replaced them in about 15 minutes. I bought two flappers online for $20 and replaced them in about 15 minutes.

Do not use if you are planning to make an insurance claim! My water heater was damaged after Hurricane Ian. I called the Plumbing Nerds to replace it on a Friday (having used them successfully before) and they came out on Saturday to take a look. They gave me a quote which was expensive but, I assumed, reasonable, given the size/type of water heater (80Gal Rheem Professional), the work involved (new stand, new WH, updated piping, hauling away old WH and stand, etc) and the post-Hurricane Ian supply and demand issues. They were able to replace it on the Monday. So far so good. I subsequently submitted the Plumbing Nerds invoice to my insurance company for reimbursement and they pushed back, asking for a breakdown of materials and labor. Fine, I thought. I called Plumbing Nerds to ask for this. I was told that they would escalate to management and call me back. Nothing. I called again...same thing. And again...same thing. I have called now 5 or 6 times and can only speak to the call center people. No one has called me back and no detailed invoice has been produced. The only thing I can assume is that the price was so exorbitant they are unable to produce an invoice. Now I am stuck with a $5K+ invoice which insurance won't cover. It's unfortunate because prior to this I was happy with the Plumbing Nerds but I can no longer recommend them, at least not if you are planning on requesting a reimbursement from your insurance company

We called this company and they sent somebody out, however they didn't resolve the issue. They tried their snake, this didn't resolve the issue, they took a deposit of $500 to do the water jet the next day, this they guaranteed to fix our issue, it did not. Their guy let water run over our hardwood floors and put towels down, the towels were wet and now the seams have spread on our floor. We called to get our money back because after two days it was apparent they couldn't get the job done, the manager said they would give the money back, but instead took out the additional $500. So, in addition to them lying about giving our money back, they ruined our floor. The guy came over a two day period of time, never showing up when they said he would be here. Our kitchen was left in shambles because of this company. Then they fraudulently took $501 more out of our account. The $1001 is a small price compared to the floor we now will have to replace! We are considering suing. We called a different plumber the next day, he resolved the issue, without any drama. The company we called was Mike's Plumbing, he used an old-fashioned snake, resolved our issue within 2 hours, but more importantly knew what he was doing.

We had an excellent experience with Plumbing Nerds this week. We had a situation with a clogged toilet which may not seem like an emergency, but we had our children and grandchildren arriving the next day! I sent a Yelp request for an estimate and had John respond within ten minutes of my request. After exchanging information he told me he could have someone out that afternoon. They sent appt confirmation and told me we would get 45 minute notice of tech's arrival, which we did. Eddie B arrived and immediately discussed the problem with us both for a short term solution but also shared so much helpful information about what we should do to replace our toilet (he verified it was original to house - 1969!) and check out pipes and sewer system. We have had no issues for the last ten years of our ownership and do not know when it was ever last looked at. We could not have been more impressed with Eddie and his expertise and recommendations. We will move forward soon (after visitors!) with getting things repaired/checked out and will call on the Plumbing Nerds to do the work. Thanks Eddie!
