Plumbing Nerds
Company Overview
Plumbing & Cooling Nerds serves Naples and nearby communities by offering exceptional plumbing assistance. Featuring a complete satisfaction promise and our Clear Pricing Commitment, our experts are set to assist you with your plumbing requirements.
Our company is the latest iteration of the HVAC and plumbing business founded by our CEO, John Verhoff after settling to Southwest Florida in 2007. At first, he worked on construction jobs. Yet, after weathering the 2008-2009 recession, he came to see that employment with contractors offered little control over his work processes as he wanted.
By 2012, Verhoff shifted his attention to strictly home service, initially teaming up with a friend on a venture that had branches in Florida and two other states. After he acquired his partner on the Florida part of the operation in 2016, he sought a new name and identity. This led to the birth of Plumbing & Cooling Nerds came to life.
Plumbing & Cooling Nerds takes pride on delivering “intelligent home solutions” that are “delivered with nerd-like enthusiasm.”
Greetings, I'm John, the founder and Head Nerd of Plumbing & Cooling Nerds. I've been passionate to home services since I was in high school, and I'm devoted on offering the highest level of service to my customers.
Upon founding Plumbing Nerds in 2007, I saw a need for a better focus on customer service to plumbing. We're guided by our mission to “redefine how skilled trades are viewed,” which means offering modern and efficient solutions to everyday plumbing needs. We also educate homeowners about their plumbing and HVAC systems and present options that meet their needs.
We appreciate your interest for choosing us for your home needs. I wish we can improve the way you perceive a skilled tradesperson.

We had an excellent experience with Plumbing Nerds this week. We had a situation with a clogged toilet which may not seem like an emergency, but we had our children and grandchildren arriving the next day! I sent a Yelp request for an estimate and had John respond within ten minutes of my request. After exchanging information he told me he could have someone out that afternoon. They sent appt confirmation and told me we would get 45 minute notice of tech's arrival, which we did. Eddie B arrived and immediately discussed the problem with us both for a short term solution but also shared so much helpful information about what we should do to replace our toilet (he verified it was original to house - 1969!) and check out pipes and sewer system. We have had no issues for the last ten years of our ownership and do not know when it was ever last looked at. We could not have been more impressed with Eddie and his expertise and recommendations. We will move forward soon (after visitors!) with getting things repaired/checked out and will call on the Plumbing Nerds to do the work. Thanks Eddie!

Terrible experience. i made an appointment five days in advance of today, i explicitly explained what we needed done, repair to an ice maker. I was told this could be done. I was then contacted and told they could not make the appointment after our tenants has waited five hours to have someone show up today. When i told them we needed them to come today, i was then told they really do not repair ice makers. So, either the rep i spoke to today is lying to me about service or the intake person did. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Invoice #150262412 I was lied to. Your technician said my garbage disposal didnt work and was uninstalled by me and i just needed him to install a new one (provided by me). Also said he provided a platinum option. Reality: In trying toing to fix my clogged disposal with the s-tool I inadvertently disengaged it. I asked the tech to fix it my current disposal. He didnt even try that option and insisted that I had to replace it with a new disposal that I had purchased at home depot only as backup. And by the way what are the options that he did not inform me of? Platinum? Bronze? Silver??????? No options were explained....tell me now. I need to know. What options?? You have choices. I can get back to my Neighborhood website which had good reviews for you (and is why i chose you) and contact everybody to post updated negative reviews. And I can go to your website and post the same. I can contact my bank and dispute the charges. Or you can take ownership of your actions and respond accordingly. (Meaning explanation of options, reimbursement of reasonable charges, etc,) PS the only reason I gave your tech 5 stars was because he refused to leave my home unless i did so. I was under extreme pressure to give his review and I just wanted him to leave. This after he did his presentation regarding the water heater and the water samples. just leave.

We called this company and they sent somebody out, however they didn't resolve the issue. They tried their snake, this didn't resolve the issue, they took a deposit of $500 to do the water jet the next day, this they guaranteed to fix our issue, it did not. Their guy let water run over our hardwood floors and put towels down, the towels were wet and now the seams have spread on our floor. We called to get our money back because after two days it was apparent they couldn't get the job done, the manager said they would give the money back, but instead took out the additional $500. So, in addition to them lying about giving our money back, they ruined our floor. The guy came over a two day period of time, never showing up when they said he would be here. Our kitchen was left in shambles because of this company. Then they fraudulently took $501 more out of our account. The $1001 is a small price compared to the floor we now will have to replace! We are considering suing. We called a different plumber the next day, he resolved the issue, without any drama. The company we called was Mike's Plumbing, he used an old-fashioned snake, resolved our issue within 2 hours, but more importantly knew what he was doing.

My experience with Plumbing Nerds was excellent from start to finish. My first contact with the office made me feel confident that they accurately understood what I needed and they scheduled an appointment within a day of my call. Luis was our plumber and he was so knowledgeable, professional and friendly. The cost was reasonable. Highly recommend this company. This was my second time using them. the first time was for a drainage issue.

do not use this company!!! way over priced by 3 times. $908 charged for 2 outside faucets! like most services are up these days but this is ridiculous.

If I could give them zero stars I would. First, I made an appointment a WEEK in advance to hook up a sink and faucet, for 10 am. They did not show but did call and say they would be here in the afternoon. Then they called and said they would be here after 5 pm. Then they called after 7 pm and said they weren't coming. They only came the next day because I lost my temper with them.. It was supposed to be a simple job, new sink, new faucet. My wife calls me and says the technician tells her it may cost $1200. He finally says its ONLY $800. Sales ploy?? The tech was apparently a """"nice guy"""" so I will give him credit for that. When the Nerds called asking if I was satisfied, of course I told them I wasn't. I was told by the person who that she would check with the boss to look into the pricing, and she would get back to me. its been a month, I am still waiting. Needless to say, it is time to find a new plumber.

I was charged almost $2,000 for a 40-gallon Rheem water heater, including installation. I admit that I was in a hurry for hot water and didn't do any comparison shopping on the web. After the fact, I found that the Rheem 40-gallon Professional water heater sells for about $400 at Home Depot, excluding installation. Consumer Reports says that 40-gallon water heaters should cost between $400 - $600 excluding installation. I called to complain, and they said they sold a higher quality product (with the same name??) and that I approved some enhancements in the installation. Then I got a lecture on overhead, profit margins, superior techs, etc.. No matter how you slice it, $2000 is Waay too much for a 40-gallon water heater. I admit, I have no remedy since I agreed to the price, but I want to warn others to shop around first.

Do not use if you are planning to make an insurance claim! My water heater was damaged after Hurricane Ian. I called the Plumbing Nerds to replace it on a Friday (having used them successfully before) and they came out on Saturday to take a look. They gave me a quote which was expensive but, I assumed, reasonable, given the size/type of water heater (80Gal Rheem Professional), the work involved (new stand, new WH, updated piping, hauling away old WH and stand, etc) and the post-Hurricane Ian supply and demand issues. They were able to replace it on the Monday. So far so good. I subsequently submitted the Plumbing Nerds invoice to my insurance company for reimbursement and they pushed back, asking for a breakdown of materials and labor. Fine, I thought. I called Plumbing Nerds to ask for this. I was told that they would escalate to management and call me back. Nothing. I called again...same thing. And again...same thing. I have called now 5 or 6 times and can only speak to the call center people. No one has called me back and no detailed invoice has been produced. The only thing I can assume is that the price was so exorbitant they are unable to produce an invoice. Now I am stuck with a $5K+ invoice which insurance won't cover. It's unfortunate because prior to this I was happy with the Plumbing Nerds but I can no longer recommend them, at least not if you are planning on requesting a reimbursement from your insurance company

Outstanding customer service! It's nice to recieve a GPS link along with a photo of who is coming to do the repair. My issue was found quickly and they were able to tell me how much it would cost before doing anything. Very knowledgeable people, excellent service, very responsive, worth every penny!
