Plumbing Nerds
Company Overview
Plumbing & Cooling Nerds delivers Naples and nearby communities through outstanding plumbing solutions. Featuring a full satisfaction guarantee and our Upfront Price Guarantee, our team are ready to support you with all your plumbing needs.
Our company is the newest phase of the plumbing and cooling company founded by our CEO, John Verhoff after settling to Southwest Florida in the year 2007. At first, he focused on construction jobs. Yet, after navigating the economic downturn of 2008-2009, he understood that working for contractors lacked control over his work processes as he desired.
Come 2012, Verhoff redirected his focus to home service exclusively, at first collaborating with a friend on a business that had branches in the state of Florida and two additional states. When he took over his partner on the Florida part of the business in 2016, he needed a new name and identity. That's how Plumbing & Cooling Nerds came to life.
Plumbing & Cooling Nerds prides itself on offering “innovative home services” that are “delivered with enthusiasm and expertise.”
Greetings, I'm the Head Nerd, John Verhoff of this company. I've been passionate to providing home solutions since I was in high school, and I'm focused on offering the highest level of service to my clients.
As I launching Plumbing & Cooling Nerds in the year 2007, I saw a demand for a more customer-centric approach to the plumbing industry. We're driven by our mission to “change the way the world views skilled trades,” which means providing innovative and practical solutions to common plumbing issues. We also teach homeowners about their plumbing and heating systems and present options that fit their needs.
Thank you for considering Plumbing & Cooling Nerds for your household requirements. I wish we can improve the way you think about a trade professional.

I was charged almost $2,000 for a 40-gallon Rheem water heater, including installation. I admit that I was in a hurry for hot water and didn't do any comparison shopping on the web. After the fact, I found that the Rheem 40-gallon Professional water heater sells for about $400 at Home Depot, excluding installation. Consumer Reports says that 40-gallon water heaters should cost between $400 - $600 excluding installation. I called to complain, and they said they sold a higher quality product (with the same name??) and that I approved some enhancements in the installation. Then I got a lecture on overhead, profit margins, superior techs, etc.. No matter how you slice it, $2000 is Waay too much for a 40-gallon water heater. I admit, I have no remedy since I agreed to the price, but I want to warn others to shop around first.
My experience with Plumbing Nerds was excellent from start to finish. My first contact with the office made me feel confident that they accurately understood what I needed and they scheduled an appointment within a day of my call. Luis was our plumber and he was so knowledgeable, professional and friendly. The cost was reasonable. Highly recommend this company. This was my second time using them. the first time was for a drainage issue.
Invoice #150262412 I was lied to. Your technician said my garbage disposal didnt work and was uninstalled by me and i just needed him to install a new one (provided by me). Also said he provided a platinum option. Reality: In trying toing to fix my clogged disposal with the s-tool I inadvertently disengaged it. I asked the tech to fix it my current disposal. He didnt even try that option and insisted that I had to replace it with a new disposal that I had purchased at home depot only as backup. And by the way what are the options that he did not inform me of? Platinum? Bronze? Silver??????? No options were explained....tell me now. I need to know. What options?? You have choices. I can get back to my Neighborhood website which had good reviews for you (and is why i chose you) and contact everybody to post updated negative reviews. And I can go to your website and post the same. I can contact my bank and dispute the charges. Or you can take ownership of your actions and respond accordingly. (Meaning explanation of options, reimbursement of reasonable charges, etc,) PS the only reason I gave your tech 5 stars was because he refused to leave my home unless i did so. I was under extreme pressure to give his review and I just wanted him to leave. This after he did his presentation regarding the water heater and the water samples. just leave.
do not use this company!!! way over priced by 3 times. $908 charged for 2 outside faucets! like most services are up these days but this is ridiculous.
Cindy S.Our toilet started leaking around the seal and backed up into the bathtub in the middle of tropical storm/hurricane Debby. They had Sebastian Moceri at our house within an hour of my calling. Fair pricing and knowledgeable. Definitely would Use them again and refer them
Don't use this company. They're quick """"to come to the rescue"""", give a low quote ($630) and """"start"""" the job, but they don't finish it. We had to pay them half ($330) of the quoted price just to get a new appointment for them to return and finish the job. Two days later, their employee returned late in the day, but couldn't start working until he called the office for the """"new"""" quote ($3800) in order to complete the same job. Warning to all: This company is not reputable and are scam artists.
Doyle D.I used to be able to fix or repair anything. 42 years auto master tech. Now handicapped I have to rely on paid """"Pros"""" to do repairs. I called plumbing nerds for an estimate to replace a leaky tub faucet. By my est this would take 2 hours. They gave me an estimate for $1289 to replace this faucet. I have learned that Naples is saturated with crooks that think everyone here is dumb n rich. When i asked what that covered I was told """"replace the faucet"""". They run lots of commercials n have new trucks. Guess they have to pay for that somehow. Good luck. I just said NO.
Where do I begin. The people from Plumbing Nerds have been at my home a few times. They put in a new water filter for my home years ago. As time goes on I had them come for various things. Due to random black in my water, Plumbing Nerds insisted that I had to have my whole house repiped. I have since learned they were wrong. The issue was a defective water pressure tank, leaking black randomly throughout the house and water filters Again, no overhaul needed to the pipes- omitting a costly $8,000.00 dollar job that wasn't necessary. But my worst experience was when they came for two reasons; one to inspect a hot water tank to determine it was properly installed for a new insurance company. Plumbing Nerds put the cost of this at $895.00 just to make that determination. I ended up paying nothing. I also wanted to replace a valve in my shower. The concern I had was that I didn't want to damage the dated tile in the bathroom. For this task they wanted $1,400.00 and couldn't guarantee they wouldn't damage the tile. When a friend called during their visit, he insisted that I not use them due to the excessive pricing. I eventually had a decent plumber come through. Not only did he charge me only $415.00, he replaced the valve by going through the wall from another room. What a concept...
Terrible experience. i made an appointment five days in advance of today, i explicitly explained what we needed done, repair to an ice maker. I was told this could be done. I was then contacted and told they could not make the appointment after our tenants has waited five hours to have someone show up today. When i told them we needed them to come today, i was then told they really do not repair ice makers. So, either the rep i spoke to today is lying to me about service or the intake person did. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
Autumn S.Honest trust worthy company. Our tech Jeff was on point with his updates. I was impressed he showed up on time and ready to work. He explained what was going on with my hot water heater and had it fixed in no time. He was extremely professional and respectful and now days that goes a long way. I will definitely use plumbing nerds in the future!
