The company was created on June 1, 1973, by Gladston Mealor and his son, Sidney, at 166 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. The small business started with four employees, including Glad and Sid, focusing on counter sales and delivery.

On February 13, 1976, we became a distributor for American Standard. This agreement provided a substantial boost to PDI's standing. This line helped us demonstrate our strength in the plumbing industry. This success led to securing additional major plumbing brands, including A.O. Smith water heaters and Aqua Glass bath fixtures.

As PDI continued to grow, it became obvious that a larger facility was required. The company aimed to remain close to its origins in the Lawrenceville area. A site was acquired in an undeveloped industrial park off Collins Hill Road, providing easy access to Georgia Highway 316. Our Corporate Headquarters operated at 20 Collins Hill Road from 1984 to 2006, but we needed to find a new location to facilitate further growth.
