Plumbing Distributors, Inc was established on June 1, 1973, by Gladston Mealor and his son, Sidney, at 166 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. The company began with a team of four, including Glad and Sid, providing counter sales and delivery services.

PDI secured its status as a distributor for American Standard on February 13, 1976. This agreement provided a substantial boost to PDI's standing. With the American Standard line, we proved our competitiveness in the plumbing market. It also enabled PDI to acquire other prominent plumbing brands like A.O. Smith water heaters and later Aqua Glass bath fixtures.

With PDI's growth, the need for a bigger facility became apparent. Our goal was to keep our presence near our original location in Lawrenceville. A site was acquired in an undeveloped industrial park off Collins Hill Road, providing easy access to Georgia Highway 316. From 1984 to 2006, PDI's Corporate Headquarters were situated at 20 Collins Hill Road, but once again, to accommodate growth, we needed to relocate.
