The company was created on June 1, 1973, by Gladston Mealor and his son, Sidney, at 166 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. The company began with a team of four, including Glad and Sid, providing counter sales and delivery services.

PDI secured its status as a distributor for American Standard on February 13, 1976. This agreement provided a substantial boost to PDI's standing. This line helped us demonstrate our strength in the plumbing industry. This success led to securing additional major plumbing brands, including A.O. Smith water heaters and Aqua Glass bath fixtures.

As PDI expanded, the necessity for a larger facility became clear. We wanted to stay connected to our roots in Lawrenceville. A site was acquired in an undeveloped industrial park off Collins Hill Road, providing easy access to Georgia Highway 316. From 1984 to 2006, PDI's Corporate Headquarters were situated at 20 Collins Hill Road, but once again, to accommodate growth, we needed to relocate.
