On June 1, 1973, Gladston Mealor and his son, Sidney Mealor, founded Plumbing Distributors, Inc at 166 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. Initially, the business had four staff members, including Glad and Sid, and specialized in counter sales and delivery.

On February 13, 1976, we became a distributor for American Standard. This partnership significantly enhanced PDI's reputation. The American Standard line allowed us to establish ourselves as a competitive player in the plumbing market. This success led to securing additional major plumbing brands like A.O. Smith water heaters and later Aqua Glass bath fixtures.

With PDI's growth, the need for a bigger facility became apparent. We wanted to stay connected to our roots in Lawrenceville. A site was acquired in an undeveloped industrial park off Collins Hill Road, providing easy access to Georgia Highway 316. From 1984 to 2006, PDI's Corporate Headquarters were situated at 20 Collins Hill Road, but once again, to accommodate growth, we needed to move.
