The company was launched on June 1, 1973, by Gladston Mealor and his son, Sidney, at 166 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. The company began with a team of four, including Glad and Sid, providing counter sales and delivery services.

On February 13, 1976, PDI became an authorized distributor for American Standard. This collaboration marked a turning point for PDI. With the American Standard line, we proved our competitiveness in the plumbing sector. As a result, we were able to bring in other significant plumbing lines such as A.O. Smith water heaters and Aqua Glass bath fixtures.

With PDI's growth, the need for a bigger facility became apparent. The company aimed to remain close to its origins in the Lawrenceville area. A piece of land was secured in an industrial park off Collins Hill Road, ensuring easy access to Georgia Highway 316. From 1984 to 2006, PDI's Corporate Headquarters were situated at 20 Collins Hill Road, but once again, to accommodate growth, we needed to move.
