On June 1, 1973, Gladston Mealor and his son, Sidney Mealor, founded Plumbing Distributors, Inc at 166 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. The company began with a team of four, including Glad and Sid, providing counter sales and delivery services.

PDI secured its status as a distributor for American Standard on February 13, 1976. This collaboration marked a turning point for PDI. The American Standard line allowed us to establish ourselves as a competitive player in the plumbing market. This success led to securing additional major plumbing brands like A.O. Smith water heaters and later Aqua Glass bath fixtures.

As PDI continued to grow, we recognized the need for a larger space. Our goal was to keep our presence near our original location in Lawrenceville. A piece of land was secured in an industrial park off Collins Hill Road, ensuring easy access to Georgia Highway 316. From 1984 to 2006, PDI's Corporate Headquarters were situated at 20 Collins Hill Road, but once again, to accommodate growth, we needed to move.
