Plumbing Distributors, Inc. was established on June 1, 1973, by Gladston Mealor and his son, Sidney, at 166 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. The small business was run by four individuals, including Glad and Sid, specializing in counter sales and delivery.

On February 13, 1976, PDI became an authorized distributor for American Standard. This was a crucial development for PDI. The American Standard line allowed us to establish ourselves as a competitive player in the plumbing sector. This success enabled PDI to acquire other prominent plumbing brands, including A.O. Smith water heaters and later Aqua Glass bath fixtures.

As PDI expanded, it became clear that a larger facility was necessary. The company aimed to remain close to its origins in the Lawrenceville area. We secured a property in a developing industrial park off Collins Hill Road, which offered convenient access to Georgia Highway 316. From 1984 to 2006, PDI's Corporate Headquarters were situated at 20 Collins Hill Road, but once again, to accommodate growth, we needed to relocate.
