On June 1, 1973, Gladston Mealor and his son, Sidney Mealor, founded Plumbing Distributors, Inc. at 166 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. Four team members, including Glad and Sid, operated the small business, which focused on counter sales and delivery.

On February 13, 1976, PDI became an authorized distributor for American Standard. This marked a pivotal moment for PDI. The American Standard line allowed us to establish ourselves as a competitive player in the plumbing sector. This success enabled PDI to acquire other prominent plumbing brands, including A.O. Smith water heaters and later Aqua Glass bath fixtures.

As PDI expanded, it became clear that a larger facility was necessary. We wanted to stay connected to our roots in Lawrenceville. We secured a property in a developing industrial park off Collins Hill Road, which offered convenient access to Georgia Highway 316. Between 1984 and 2006, our Corporate Headquarters were located at 20 Collins Hill Road, but we had to move again to support our expansion.
