On June 1, 1973, Gladston Mealor and his son, Sidney Mealor, founded Plumbing Distributors, Inc. at 166 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. Four team members, including Glad and Sid, operated the small business, which focused on counter sales and delivery.

On February 13, 1976, PDI became an authorized distributor for American Standard. This was a significant milestone for PDI. The addition of American Standard products helped us prove our strength in the plumbing industry. This success paved the way for us to partner with other leading plumbing brands, such as A.O. Smith water heaters and Aqua Glass bath fixtures.

As PDI continued to grow, it was evident that we required a larger space. Our goal was to keep our operations near our original location in Lawrenceville. A piece of land was purchased in an emerging industrial park near Collins Hill Road, allowing for easy access to Georgia Highway 316. From 1984 to 2006, PDI's Corporate Headquarters were situated at 20 Collins Hill Road, but once again, to accommodate growth, we needed to relocate.
