On June 1, 1973, Gladston Mealor and his son, Sidney Mealor, founded Plumbing Distributors, Inc. at 166 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. The small business was run by four individuals, including Glad and Sid, specializing in counter sales and delivery.

On February 13, 1976, we began distributing American Standard products. This marked a pivotal moment for PDI. The addition of American Standard products helped us prove our strength in the plumbing industry. This achievement led to securing additional major plumbing brands like A.O. Smith water heaters and Aqua Glass bath fixtures.

As PDI continued to grow, it was evident that we required a larger space. Our goal was to keep our operations near our original location in Lawrenceville. We secured a property in a developing industrial park off Collins Hill Road, which offered convenient access to Georgia Highway 316. From 1984 to 2006, PDI's Corporate Headquarters were situated at 20 Collins Hill Road, but once again, to accommodate growth, we needed to relocate.
