Plumbing & Cooling Nerds is the latest iteration of the plumbing and HVAC company started by John Verhoff when he moved to Southwest Florida in 2007. Initially, he focused on new construction projects. Yet, following the 2008-2009 recession, he realized that contractor work restricted his business autonomy. In 2012, Verhoff changed his focus to home services, initially partnering with a friend on a company that had branches in Florida and two other states. When he acquired his friend's share of the Florida operations in 2016, he sought a new name and identity. That's how Plumbing & Cooling Nerds was created. Plumbing & Cooling Nerds takes pride in providing “smarter home solutions” delivered with “nerd-like enthusiasm.”
Greetings, I'm John Verhoff, the founder and ""Head Nerd"" at Plumbing & Cooling Nerds. I have been passionate about home services since my high school days, and I am dedicated to delivering top-notch service to my customers. When I launched Plumbing Nerds in 2007, I identified a demand for a more customer-focused plumbing approach. We aim to ""change the way the world views skilled trades,"" meaning we offer innovative, tech-savvy solutions for common plumbing needs. We also inform homeowners about their plumbing and air conditioning systems and present options that best fit their requirements. Thank you for thinking of Plumbing & Cooling Nerds for your home service solutions. I hope to reshape your understanding of trade professionals.

Plumbing nerds was called to install a dishwasher. The first person they sent said a rat had chewed through the draining hose. They didn't have that $30 hose so they had to come back. But in the meantime, they came back and were working on the dishwasher when suddenly my water heater (which was in the garage and right on the other side of the dishwasher )started leaking all over the garage floor. He told me I should replace the water heater as it was old and I agreed. They just happened to have a brand-new water heater in their truck. They put it in and I had no hot water for the entire next week. It was only until the 3rd plumber came here and pointed out that the breakers were still off that I had the opportunity to take a 1/2 warm shower. (I have since figured out how to turn the water heater on by watching a YouTube video. I would never have bought that type of water heater where you have to shut the electricity off and undo panels etc to change the temperature of the water. My last one had the hot and cold levers directly on the top and you just had to turn them My new dishwasher was still not working. I kept trying to turn it on and water would start going in and it would shut itself off. I found out later that that water was draining directly under the sink. Water was everywhere. Finally, they sent what I believe was an actual plumber,. He installed the dishwasher. Then I saw the charges on my bank statement because they never did give me a quote on paper. Their charge was $3,302 .All to put a dishwasher by put in. My water heater was fine and if I had wanted another one I would have never chosen the one that they put in.

Plumbing and Cooling Nerds They charged us $382.55 per hour of work for basic plumbing and inflated the hours of work by 2 times - they were there tops 5 hours and charged us for 11. The first time they came out they quoted us $4,000 to fix our shower by replacing the valve that cost $750. Then when they came out to fix it, by crazy chance the other valve became broken.... another $4,000 was quoted to us. I can't even imagine how many other people they've done this to. Kohler, the manufacturer of the replacement part was extremely apologetic. I would never recommend this awful company to anyone. Oh and when my husband called them to discuss , they told us they would sue us for defamation if we ever said anything bad about them.

I am a 75 year old Retired Army Veteran who was charged over $500 for a new faucet w/labor. My outside faucet broke during pool maintenance and my water had to be turned off. I was getting cancer treatments and needed my water to work.

Got an Estimate of $1200 to replace a tub facet. Remove one panel, replce offset faucet n done. 1.5 hours max. It seems these companies all believe that Naples residents are both wealthy and stupid. Avoid like the plague.

Quoted me $4500 to do what I did on my own in 4 hours and $200 in parts. They should call themselves the """"Plumbing pirates"""".

I had Plumbing Nerds come to my house to conduct a """"Nerd Visit"""" / inspection of my plumbing system. No problem was noted with either of my two toilets. As soon as they left I noticed that one of the toilets needed a much longer time to fill the tank. I called them back a few days later to address the problem and they told me that the cost to fix it was over $200. That toilet was working properly before the visit and not afterwards! Needless to say I would never use this company again!

Two stars because for now the problem is solved. Tried to sell us a$1500 toilet when all we needed was a tank replacement. Have asked around on what it should have cost, and they overcharged by at LEAST $200 for the simple repair they did. I was listening through a closed door and heard the guy try to oversell to my Mom, who is elderly. Guy looked shocked when I walked out. Guess he realized I knew he was trying to take advantage.....totally uncool and do not recommend. Thankfully we now have the names and numbers of other plumbers, for future use

I got an appointment for a Monday. They kept calling me saying I had an appointment and that they would let me know when they'd be on their way. They never showed. I could have called another plumbing company instead of waiting all day for a no show. very disappointed.

While this company was quite responsive and did the work quickly, they charged over $1150 dollars to replace 2 Moen faucets. These can be bought for a $175 apiece. That means to install the 2 faucets it took two hours and was over $800. The price I saw first was for $600 installed. I thought that was reasonable. Unfortunately, once the job was done I was informed that was for one faucet. Please be aware that these plumbing prices are outrageous.

4120 USD for 4.5 hours work: On a Friday morning I found my toilets and showers no longer working at all, so I looked for a plumber. For heaven's sake I found these guys, coming to my place just two hours later. They told me that I had clogged piped and they need to clean them, using a camera as well. The price was high but with the weekend coming up, I was in distress and needed the job to be done right away. The guy that was here told me he never did that job by himself, so he needs to call a colleague. So the two men did the job within 4.5 hours, using they machines. And to be fair, they did a good job, everything worked fine by then. In the end they told me they will not guarantee the work as the pipes of my house are wrong and there would be a complete repiping necessary tearing off the grounds. So, next day I told my neighbors and they were in shock about the price. By then I started investigating in the internet and asked for an estimate at two other companies - just to find out that I was ripped off. So I contacted the company to ask if they are sure about that pricing? First they did not react, but after me writing again and again, they finally came back to me (just after I wrote to them that they postal letters thanking me to be such a happy customer does not really show what I am). They confirmed the price as the work was done properly and they do not charge by the hours but for the job. Telling me that if they would have needed 2 days, the price would still have been the same and it is that high because of their high expertise. Well, they helped me when I needed help. But in my review I'd like to warn everybody to get an estimate first and take enough time to check it and shop around, as I paid 1000 USD per manhour, which is definitely insane. Oh, and asking the builder of the house which is not that old, I got confirmed that my pipes are exactly the way they should be - so no ripping me off there again.
