I am so disappointed with the service. It's been six weeks, so I waited long enough to cool down before writing a review.

There was a minor gas leak in my basement, so the ComEd technician located the gas leak, marked the exact spot with tape, wrote out exactly what needed to be done and the parts needed, and shut off the gas. He said to call a plumber to replace the part and show them exactly what needed to be done, a minor repair. I called this company to do the repair, told them exactly what was needed, and then showed the serviceman exactly the spot. It was an elbow joint that needed replaced. There was no guesswork required. I was quoted a price of $153 plus parts for 45 minutes and an addition $51 for each additional 15 minutes of work required.

The serviceman did the repair and seemed to take his time, but I was relieved that it took about 40 minutes total. Then he went to his truck. He waited about seven minutes before bringing in a receipt, which was a form torn from a receipt pad that he had handwritten in the amount charged. He charged me for an hour. Apparently, I was being charged $51 for him to write out a receipt that should have taken a few seconds. I could hardly believe it! When the ComEd guy came back, he was shocked at the price I paid and, without saying it outright, pretty much indicated that I got hosed by this company. The rate was high, which I accepted, but the extra $51 charge on a simple repair is ridiculous.

Having had time to cool off, I will say that the repair, simple as it was, seems to have been completed correctly and well done. But I also value honesty and integrity, and I do not believe that the additional $51 I was charged was in any way honest. For that reason, I would not recommend this company at all.

I had Phil Walz Plumbing out to my house today. The job took a lot longer than I had anticipated. The tech couldn't do the repair, and spent time calling the office and looking up videos online. I got a $588 bill for repairing one leaking faucet and replacing one bathtub faucet. Outrageous. I was told they are union and charge $204 / hour. Exorbitant. I purchased a faucet at Home Depot, our tech said he had a higher quality faucet in the truck that he'd be more comfortable with installing. It turns out the faucet is identical to the one I purchased, just a different brand. I looked it up online, it costs $8.53. Phil Walz charged me $30 for the faucet. I had already purchased one. This seems clearly to be an attempt to up my bill. I will never use Phil Walz again, unless they remedy this to my satisfaction, I will never use union plumbers again. We are on the board of the BBB and will be taking the matter there, if this is not remedied.

Called this morning because of a leaking bathroom sink drain. They worked around my schedule and were able to send a plumber this afternoon after I got home. The plumber not only quickly fixed my leak, but also cleaned up my drain so my pop up thing closes properly now when I pull the lever. The price was right in line with what was expected. Would definitely recommend.

I called in the morning and they were at my house by 2:30 in the afternoon to fix a constantly running toilet. The service person was polite and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this company.

Honesty : 1 star. I called and got a quote for adding gas pipeline to patio and i was told $700. After coming to my place and explained the job, we didn't talk about the money. I assumed, it would be $700. After the job is done, this guy started asking $1200.
Knowledge of work : 1 star. They are not familiar with gas pipeline codes. If you are going to do something with gas pipe , please stay away from them.
Quality of work : 4 star . Ok so far.. Hopefully no gas leak in the future.

I called them about replacing a shower faucet at 2 pm and the plumber was here in about 30 minutes! The office was able to give me a quote over the phone without sending someone out because all the piping was exposed and ready for the work.
The plumber worked very efficiently. The piping he installed was straight and the solder joints were very well done. Everything held up when he pressure tested the system. He noticed that the original hot and cold water piping was reversed. He said that although the system worked, the valve worked backwards. He said it was not right and even though the new valve worked well, he took the time to make it right. I really appreciated his conscientiousness and the quality of his work was very good. I would happily recommend him to my friends and neighbors.

We have been using Phil Walz Plumbers as our ""go-to"" plumber for several years. They are always prompt, courteous and professional when doing a job in our home. Our guy, Pat, is terrific. He knows his business, is careful when entering our home and gets the job done quickly and professionally. Highly recommended

Avoid this company!!!!!!

First of all, they charged $450 to change the sump pumps when there are absolutely no issues just because my wife happened to not know much about plumbing.

Called the guy named Kevin to fix the gas leak and he also replaced the pump since its 5 years old. No big deal. One month later, I went down to basement and water was splashing everywhere from the back-up watch dog pump line, all over the dry wall and ruining the carpet! I spent 3 hours cleaning furniture and carpet and walls, and the wife called them the next day. I was not home and a new guy Paul showed up, and told the wife it was not their problem or responsibility because they ""never touched the leaking pipe line"".
Now get this, in order to replace the sump pump which they did a month ago, the cover of the well needs to be removed-in order to remove the cover, the original stop valves (from old sump pump and watch dog pump) need to be disconnected before the cover can be even be lifted.
I really don't care if people mess up the first time (we aren't perfect sometimes). But it is a disgrace TO LIE in order to cover their mistakes of not tightening the nuts on the hose clamp.

Very disappointed! .

This guy is really disappointing. Had him come out to take care of some minor issues - he didn't bother with any of it and then handed me a bill for over $150 - he was in the house for maybe a half hour and essentially did nothing. Unbelievable - I don't normally write reviews but I really had to with this guy. There's lots of plumbing companies in the area - no reason to waste your money here.
